You know what I hate. . .
When people try to compare a relationSHIP to Yin and Yang.
Because Yin and Yang is 1.) not something for western culture to manipulate and idealize for our own amusements and convenience and 2.) Yin and Yang can not and should not be washed down to “opposites attract”.
Yin and Yang are spiritual symbols and have to do with contradictory concepts working together to create a balance, such as: day and night, warm and cold, dark and light, push and pull. These are all concepts that cannot exist without the other, i.e. We don’t know what day is if there is no night etc.
This should not be applied to relationSHIPS!
You (or a character) should still be a whole person without someone else. Those above concepts are universal and if they are not infinite they at least have a much, much longer life span than any person does/will.
People are finite and you should be able to know yourself without someone who could leave you or die or something else one day.
Defining a relationship as Yin and Yang, is disrespectful and creates a gross over reliance and idealistic cliginess to people who try to be in a relationship or look at relationships in these ways.
