Ideal for edging a border is the semi-evergreen, ground-covering perennial Alchemilla conjuncta (silver lady's mantle). This plant is native to the southwest Alps and Jura Mountains in France and Switzerland. It has been cultivated in Britain as a rock and scree garden plant since c. 1800.

キイチゴ　(Rubus nepalensis, NEPALESE RASPBERRY, GROUNDCOVER RASPBERRY)

匍匐性の常緑灌木類で、グランドカバーに活用できます。グランドカバーにするには、40-60㎝おきに植えます。年に1m程度広がり、高さは30㎝程度まで。茎にトゲはありません。低灌木の下をしっかり覆ってくれ、陰でも育ち、辺りを人が歩いてもやられることはなく、そして、実がよく生ります。

花が咲くのは6月7月。実が生るのは8月9月。小さなラズベリーのような実が付きます。夏の終りから秋にかけて収穫し、収穫後はすぐに加工することを勧めます。ジャムにするのも良い。ミツバチをおびき寄せます。手入れに関しては、広がり過ぎを止めるために刈るくらいです。
