Useful for planting at the edge of a path is Daphne × transatlantica 'Blafra' (‘Eternal Fragrance’). This compact, semi-evergreen shrub has highly fragrant flowers from April to October. It is a cross Daphne caucasica and Daphne sericea. All parts of the plant are toxic if eaten and can be a skin irritant so it is best to wear protective equipment when handling.
