Ground Control to Major Tom… Commencing countdown engines on… 🚀✨ @davidbowie is out there watching this routine from Canada’s junior national champions @emmy_bronsard2004 and @aissabouaraguia. 🇨🇦 They’re about to compete at the 2020 Junior World Figure Skating Championships in Tallinn, Estonia. 🙌 ❄️ It’s been almost six months since I last filmed with Emmy and Aissa at the @iceacademyofmontreal, and their free dance is still one of my favorite programs of the season, if not ever. #Inktober #StarshipOblivion Part-12: "In a flurry I was hog tied with a sack thrown over my head, the gremlins hooting and cackling all the while. They led The Justice Enforcer and myself down a winding dusty road, the air growing crisper and colder with each step. Soon, the faint scent of sulfur wafted through my nostrils. My eyes widened; there was only one city on Scaarzaak with volcanic activity, where only the most ruthless and cunning of crime lords would dwell. The sacks were ripped from our heads, and we found ourselves kneeling before a gruff Earthman clothed in an aged USA astronaut suit. A growling pit bull terrier sat obediently at his side. He smiled wickedly at us, "Well well, if it ain't Clyde, our good burglar. I thought you were dead for sure when I heard the cops nabbed you. Welcome home." The Justice Enforcer leaned forward, "<SCANNING> You are Major Tom, number 5 of the ISP most wanted!" The old astronaut sneered and coughed, "Number 5? Shoot, my reputation has gone downhill over the years, ain't it?" He pulled a knife from his holster, "But all that is going to change, with your help." He staggered towards me, "Do you remember your mission? Two years ago, when I asked you to steal the Quantum Shard, and you ran away? Well, I think it's high time you take care of your unfinished business." [Space Oddity] [David Bowie] [1969] [LP] Already one year before the moon landing David Bowie wrote the legendary song "Space Oddity". David Bowie was inspired less by Moon landing and much more by Stanley Kubrick's work "Space Odyssey". The Protagonist in Space Oddity "Major Tom" appears in "Ashes to Ashes" and again in “Hello Spaceboy". The fascination with space runs through many of his subsequent works. E.g. "Life on Mars", "Ziggy Stardust", "Dancing out in Space" or "Lazarus". . Back to the album "Space Oddity" which originally should be called "David Bowie". David Bowie's style could be described as folk rock. A mixture of John Lennon and Bob Dylan paired with psychedelic and avant-garde music. The most famous song is of course the brilliant "Space Oddity", this song alone obliges to own this record. . But also the other songs are excellent, e.g. "Letter to Hermione", or the almost 10 minute masterpiece "Cygnet Committee". The whole album is full of little precious pearls that are worth diving for! . . . . . “I recall how we lived On the corner of a bed And we′d speak of a Swedish room Of hessian and wood And we'd talk with our eyes Of the sweetness in our lives And tomorrows of rich surprise Some things we could do . In our madness We burnt one hundred days Time takes time to pass And I still hold some ashes to me An Occasional Dream .
