0. THE CREATOR: MULTIDIMENSIONAL WORLDBUILDER
Behind the artifact lies the mind of composer Enric Chalaux (Stay, Aleppo Pine, Magma Malone, Vampiràmide). He acts as the architect of these pieces, conceived in Lyon at "La Cabane," a sound studio carved into the rock in the esoteric district of Croix Rousse. This space was owned by the late French underground genius Guitos (Guillaume Fournier), an experimental producer responsible for the electronic conception of Sharknado Family, a Warp Records collaborator, cultural agitator, and revolutionary creator of multimedia experiences based on poems for the Cinema Préhistorique events.
Enric, in absolute symbiosis with Guitos, began to design a new way of imagining music: generating sound from an imaginary work, Bagdad, a science fiction novel by Lyonnais sculptor Cédric Esturillo.
From that spark, Enric began composing Alice in the Land of the Troubadours in his Croix Rousse home, utilizing sonic archaeology instruments such as the forgotten Farfisa Commander (an organ that doubles as a synthesizer, offering unique string and harpsichord sounds). He investigated the FM synthesis sounds of the Sega Mega Drive directly from the console via MIDI connection, layered with Korg MS20 modular synthesis. Exploring the Dorian and Lydian modes found in certain Occitan songs and the legendary video game Light Crusader, he began his search for original troubadour poems at the Library of Lyon. He didn't just write songs; he completed a "Musique pour l'Image" program in Lyon at the prestigious CFSM art school, directed by Pascal Hautois, composer and orchestral arranger for the Lyon Opera.
In this magnetic time and place, Enric designed sensory architectures, mind games, extrasensory expansion, and synesthetic color guides based on visions and images (and vice versa), using sound as a tool for cultural and political reprogramming.

"This project is born from over 30 years of personal study of Occitan culture, and a connection to the earth and sky that comes directly from my Aranese ancestry through the Subirà lineage. This lineage traces back to Rafael de Subirà, a renowned politician in the Conselh Generau d’Aran and Mayor of Bossòst, and his cousin, the visionary expeditionary, discoverer, and Governor of Alta California, Gaspar de Portolà. It is also born from a search for metaphysics through Cathar spirituality and a firm resolve to visualize and rescue realities systematically hidden by the powers that be and the pyramidal structures that have shaped modern Europe.
From the governments of France, Spain, and Italy, a premeditated silencing of Occitan culture has been orchestrated—an imposed amnesia. This has allowed the world to admire English folk music without realizing that much of its genesis lies in the Dorian and Lydian modes of Occitan harmony, which were copied, transformed, and integrated as their own. This appropriation is evident in instruments like the vièla de ròda (which became the hurdy-gurdy in England), the mandola, and the viola da gamba, as well as in the entire lyricism and meter of Anglo-Saxon poetry that have become icons of British sound.
It must be said bluntly: iconic figures of modern music like Bob Dylan, Donovan, Vashti Bunyan, Marc Bolan, Jimmy Page, Brian Jones, The Incredible String Band, or Pentangle would not exist without the music, the metrics, and the spirit of the Occitan troubadours. This same process of cultural concealment and absorption also occurred in France, Italy, Germany, Spain, and the rest of the countries of what we today call Europe, erasing the trail of the original source that made us universal."
1. THE MISSION: Safeguarding Occitan through an album about an imaginary novel
The disappearance of Occitan is currently the most dramatic case of linguistic sociology in Europe due, paradoxically, to the extreme fragmentation produced by the language's own linguistic richness, combined with the persecution carried out by various French governments.
The fragmentation we experience today is not accidental; it is the result of an open wound from the Battle of Muret (1213). The end of the Occitan-Catalan dream, Muret was not just a battle; it was the collapse of the cultural and political unity of the entire South of Europe. With the defeat and death of Peter the Catholic (King of Aragon and Count of Barcelona) at the hands of Pope Innocent III’s crusaders and the bloodthirsty captain Simon de Montfort, the possibility of a great state stretching from the Ebro River to the Rhône was lost. In a world dominated by ecclesiastical Latin and the silence of cloisters, this Duke of Aquitaine—the most powerful noble of his time—committed the most revolutionary act in history: he began to sing in the language of the people, the Lengua de Oc.
With him, music ceased to be a prayer to God and became a shout for life, desire, and individual freedom. He was not just an aristocrat; he was the first novelist in history, and it was in Occitan (in the beautiful Limousin dialect) that he broke dogma to invent the "singer-songwriter." For the first time in over a millennium, a voice rose to say: "I feel," "I want," "I suffer." Fascinated by the humanist and expansive thought of Agustí Chalaux de Subirà, his great-uncle: a chemist, economist, patron of Salvador Dalí, and visionary philosopher. As a friend and the first patron of Dalí, following a meeting in Cadaqués where they discussed philosophy and art, Agustí acted as a manager and decided to financially support Dalí during the First Surrealist Performance in Paris, as described in the notebook "Les Floretes d'Agustí Xaló" published by the Joan Bardina Study Center.
From Agustí Chalaux—the first person to discover his talent as a musician and who chose to buy him his first electric guitar—Enric absorbed firsthand his entire humanistic spirit, his dedication to the underprivileged, and the revolutionary yet pacifist aura of a true sage; a figure absolutely central to the history of our land.
Unknown to the mass media but widely recognized in philosophical circles and Catalan cultural associations, Agustí was a key player during the Spanish Civil War, where he applied all his ingenuity and diplomacy to satisfy all parties during those difficult times for Catalonia. He even provided diplomatic guidance to the Minister of Defense and future President of the Generalitat, Joan Tarradellas.
The culmination of this journey is not found in the past, but in the Immersive Experience of the Future. We are constructing a Virtual Reality experience where Occitan ceases to be a persecuted language and becomes a Sonic Womb. Stella Fungus is the new polis of thought, the construction of a reality that already exists in another dimension.
Stella Fungus is a mental space where collective consciousness and vibration transform into architecture and culture. It is a unitary, living entity where mysticism, art, and science converge to design the next evolutionary leap for humanity.
In the invisible heights, where sound becomes light and light becomes memory, dwells Stella Fungus: a symbolic yet living entity, both metaphor and organism, mirror and root.
