Sega’s Next Project

On Wednesday, Sega published a video detailing their group statement, talking about the quality and uniqueness they have created over the years. While this doesn't showcase the Sega CD or the 32X, it is a rather bold video

What’s the most telling part about the video is the logo at the end, it swirls around into the center, possibly hinting that Sega is coming back into the console business after ten years of iOS and PC games. I welcome another Dreamcast, as everyone knows that the true place for gamers is on console, and not PC.

Our Group Work Statement

As a group, we accomplished many things. We successfully designed and agreed on a project, contributing equally to the project proposal. Foremost, we completed the interview process in a timely manner, remaining professional as we abided by relevant ethical guidelines. We designed a Tumblr page that was able to incorporate all of the fundamental elements of the Learning Journal while being aesthetically pleasing and interesting to explore. As a team, we were able to successfully maintain open communication lines via Facebook and iMessage groups, allowing us to delegate and complete tasks fairly. There was no one individual who did more or less than the other team members; we contributed an equivalent amount to one another as well as maintain a standard of quality. Girls and Their Dreams taught us invaluable things regarding girl power and girlhood. Analyzing the girls’ responses to our questions, we gained an insight into how the everyday girl perceives herself and the possibility that is her future. The girls all acknowledged having a dream, a focus, and/or a goal regarding future occupations. Our interviewees had very specific answers to our questions, illustrating to us that they had thought about their futures in a deep and meaningful way. The responses given proved that they did not feel as though their sex hindered them in any particular way and that because they were girls did not mean that they would not be able to accomplish their dreams. The majority of the girls felt that they were equal to boys in terms of talent, intelligence, and overall capability, a few stating that they felt they were more capable. This was marvelous as it indicated a certain level of confidence in their competencies, indicating a real sense of girl power. Although as a group we found one of the most interesting elements of the project was how the girls reacted to the taking of their photograph. Our project showed us that although these girls were interested in a bright future with unlimited potential, they were highly concerned about their appearances. Many of the girls spent a minute or two primping themselves for the photo, applying lip-gloss and brushing out their hair. Some even asked for more than one photo to be taken so that the best one would be uploaded, even though they knew that these photos would only be shared with our small class. There was an immediate sense of concern regarding how the world would perceive them if they did not look flawless. Proving that although they felt that they had equal opportunity compared to their male counterparts, their appearance still mattered in a big way.  Demonstrating the notion that regardless of how confident girls are with their intelligence, personality, competencies, their appearance is still of significant worth.
