- Reflex on all of the previous works - think of what it will be ( think of the application of it)
- A ‘fluorescent wood’ piece seems to be a very interesting started idea.
- Take a serious step in each technique

GROUP CRIT//FORMING COLLECTIONS
We had a group crit session that helped me make some decisions about wha to do next. It was helpful to lay my work out so that i could see my progress and recognise where there may be gaps and room to develop. I definitely have a collection forming but theres still pieces that could be developed to pull it all together.
THE STRIPE: Its boring. This collection is about playful textures and versatile colours- the stripe is colourful but it doesn't bring anything interesting to the other pieces. I want to work with Devore to create the texture that i feel is missing. i was the the pieces to be tactile and engaging. At this stage, the stripe lacks these elements.
Group Crit 27/10/16
Today's group crit went well in regards to confirming the shoot yesterday wasn't as successful as the 1st shoot with the other model. I believe this is because the hair and makeup didn't go as well as I planned or the model wanted. Aside from this, the successfulness is the close up clothing imagery without the models identify in that I prefer rather than the model within the shot. Therefore from this group crit, I decided to push the use of different models and see how this will turn out. I also made the comment that my photos represent a slight glimpse of provocation to see if other people saw it, but they didn't which was quite interesting that only some people will see that as an interpretation through my work.
Group Critique Notes
Here is a list of comments and notes from the Group Critique on November the 3rd.
1.The colours are nice, very attractive. It was noted by a member of the group that perhaps there was too much red? With the strawberry and Salmon.
2.Not everyone was sure about what E colours were or what they meant. The assumption was made that it was in relation to colour. Eventually someone put it together that it was a comparison of natural and unnatural.
3.Everyone agreed that technically they were very well done, and despite not being sure why, all agreed that the white space at the top of the image only added to the shot. Though commented on the very tight crop at the bottom that made some of the images seem crowded.
4. The lime and peas makes no sense. In hindsight I definitely agree with this. I was just aiming for matching colours, not food. It was agreed that real fresh peas and canned would make more sense. I put it on the list of shots to redo.
5. It was agreed that the concept was working as well as the process, it just needed to be continued and finished.
6. Everyone also agreed that the salmon shot had to go or be reshot to be portrait.
7.The M&M where hard to make out, you couldn’t see the Ms on them. I’ve added it to a list of images to reedit. It is my plan to erase any paint over the Ms to make it more obvious.
8. Lastly my own thoughts at the end of this is that there should be a final group image of a rainbow cake with the 6 colours, matching fruit and all the E colours of the rainbow. Even once I reshoot the images and do the rainbow shoot I would still need one more idea to get a full 8 image portfolio.
Group Critique Feedback
Once our blogs were complete we presented them in groups in order to explain how we went about the project. We then gathered feedback from the group on what they liked and disliked about the way I’d tackled and presented my project. From this discussion I gathered that my 3D rotation was my most successful, with the photography of my final design being brought up as one of the pieces the group liked. They felt that I explored this rotation well and experimented fully with the lights and projections. They also said that I explored most of the workshops well even though I had commented on the fact that I thought the textiles workshop had not been successful for me. They also thought that I had a good amount of references to relevant artists due to the explanation of how I would take certain rotations further in the future. One piece of advice which I find valuable is that I could reorder my blog in a bit of a more coherent manner with the professional photographs following the 3D rotation so that my final piece can follow the development work leading to the final outcome.
I am pleased with the feedback I received through this discussion and feel that it will help guide me in improving my practice for future projects. I found the group critique particularly useful as I was then able to see how others had gone about this project and presented their work. The feedback was also useful so that I could see what worked particularly well and what didn’t. However I do feel I would have benefited from a one to one conversation to see exactly what the course leaders thought of my responses to the brief in respect to what they were expecting from us.
I love when a piece of art can bring about friendly faculty debate! #pafa #postbacc #groupcrit #critique #art.
seventeenth of October- group crit
Today was my first group crit session, and it was hugely enjoyable.
We presented our images from brief 1, all having different images which showed a variation in us as photographers. It was a great opportunity to see the varying styles in our group.
I received some really encouraging feedback, which has helped to boost my confidence as this was my first time working with reverse slide film. My slides, other than one, had all been correctly exposed, which was something I was not necessarily expecting.
From this session though I learnt that my composition could have benefited from the use of a tripod, to help me keep horizontals parallel and to round of the way my images appear.
Group Crit with Will Becher
We had the pleasure of having Will Becher (a freelance animator who had worked for Aardman and Laika) in to run a grout crit session yesterday. He started by taking us through the work he has been involved in, such as "Pirates - in an adventure with scientists". The group crit session helped us to run through the film with a set of fresh eyes. Luckily he understood the idea easily and recommended a change to a scene we decided to take out at the start of production. We had a chance to see a couple of the characters from the film first hand showing the scale and detail that they work at.
