The basic equipment and rough prices for what you need to get started growing.
I had someone message me wondering what you need to get started growing and how much it all costs. Keep in mind I live in MA so prices may vary where you live but probably not by much. What follows is the question and my answer. FYI my answer is a bit long but if you are interested in getting a grow started this covers all the basics really well and goes a little into some more advanced growing accessories. If you have any questions about this stuff please message me I love to share my knowledge with anyone that wants it and if you think you know something that I missed or a better way to do something please tell me I always love learning new things about growing.
Hey, I'm interested in growing my own plants sometime in the future, just out of curiosity how much all together did you spend (or would someone have to spend) to grow indoors
So the price of a grow setup can vary hugely. I spent 80$on my 4x4x8 ft grow tent which is enough space to produce 3 lbs+ every 2 months but it's not that strong and u have to be careful when hanging too much things in it they make tents the same size that a 250lb guy could do pull ups on that go for 200$+. You wanna get really good lights that's what will effect your buds growth the most right after the nutrients. I use four 300watt led lights from viparspectra which are really good lights and are only 80$ a piece so 320$total in lights. It's usually cheaper and more effective to buy multiple smaller lights than one large one I don't know why they price out that way but they do. Multiple smaller lights also allow you to raise the light in one area if you have a plant that is growing faster than the rest instead of raising your one and only light source just to accommodate the growth of one rogue plant. Then for a beginner you usually want to start with a soil grow as opposed to a hydro setup. Good organic Soil is pretty cheap for enough soil to grow 12 plants, which is the legal max where I live, I probably spend around 60$. If you have neighbors or don't want your whole house to reek of weed, which can be a major security risk you're going to need to get a carbon filter and an inline fan to pass the air through the filter. This is very important because some assholes out there will try to rob you if they think you have a bunch of weed in your house. You want to try to keep your grow as secret as possible. For a small 4x4 tent you're looking at around 200$ for a decent filtration setup maybe less if you find a good deal. Then the nutrients the most basic program that I would recommend for a beginner is general hydroponics 3 part flora series which is around 90$ if you get gallon jugs which I recommend because you will eventually use it all so buy in bulk to save in the future. You can also add more nutrients to general hydroponics 3 part beginner program and eventually work up to the 14 part expert program once you get used to growing. Then you need the random things like a pH meter which is essential you need to make sure your watering pot plants with water or nutrients that are pH between 5.5 and 6.5 that goes for 20$ on amazon then pots and ratchet hangers for the lights probably another 30 to 40$. You will also need to get a dehumidifier because when they are budding they are very susceptible to mold that was very expensive I opted for a higher end model that cost 300$ but you can probably get a cheaper one. But that's not necessarily something you need right away you can start by buying mold resistant strains but if you want to grow any kind of bus you will want to be able to control the climate perfectly with heaters dehumidifiers and a Co2 system which can go for almost 1000$ for a good Co2 dispersal system and Co2 controller that releases Co2 into the grow as needed. So you're looking at around 800$ to get started the right way and you do want to start with the right equipment otherwise you'll end up with a product that you can't get rid of and you won't even wanna smoke it yourself then as you learn you can add some of the more advanced things like a cO2 system.
