Using cardboard and yarn students created their own looms and weavings. This project will be woven together into one collaborative piece. Project Title: Papel Picado Line Project Description: In celebration of Dia de muertos, Students were presented with the folkloric and festive designs created with Papel Picado. Students drew beautiful designs on Black Paper and on multicolored tissue paper and glued them together to create a “flag”. Each child then attached it onto string to create a Papel Picado line. Project Title: Papel Picado Drawings Project Description: Students were given Black card stock and asked to draw a memory of something they left in their countries before migrating to the US. They were introduced with the concept of positive space, negative space. Theses drawing were then cut by teaching Artist Beatriz, and will be utilized for several upcoming projects, ex: coloring books, silk screen t shirts and stencils. (at The Growlery)
