Gruut Inferno on tap at a Christmas Market in Ghent, Belgium. A 3 of 4. A pretty standard Belgian tripel with the smell and taste you’d expect. The nose is mostly lemon and some faint citrus and floral notes, and a few banana-esters. Not a ton of spice. The body is much the same with some honey sweetness, and a bit of booze in the finish.

It’s been a while since I pulled out something from Gentse Stadsbrouwerij Gruut... this evening a citrus fruity herbal spicy Gruut Wit, nicely balanced, initially refreshing then later sweeter. This evening I grabbed a Maîtresse Blond Hard Bittertje Gerijpt op Whisky Eikenvaten Gearomatiseerd met Bosvruchten. And, that says it all! ...For me this beer from the Gentse Stadsbrouwerij Gruut was first fruity berries, then nice and (nicer) bitter, and after that the whisky barrel.
