It had its moments. It was at time clever, funny, and interesting, but it never truly hooked me. Stylistically and thematically there were shades of Jasper Fforde’s “Early Riser”, Douglas Adams’ Dirk Gently series, and Jedediah Berry’s “The Manual of Detection”, but with some unnecessary oddities that distracted and overshadowed the heart and awkward humor of the characters. But there were enough threads begun and interesting characters introduced here that I could see there being a sequel, if not more.
