It had been several weeks since Clu had been admitted to the hospital and Kendall had been faithful coming by everyday. She was like clockwork all the nurses in charge of her boyfriend knew her. “He’s at therapy right now, Kendall but he should be back any minute now.” Nurse Hannah called to her as she walked the familiar route to his room. “I’ll just wait for him in there then,Hannah, thank you.” She smiled at the nurse before she rounded the corner to his room. She was only in the room for two minutes before her boyfriend returned. “ Hi baby.” She said a smile on her face as he was helped back in his bed. “Getting stronger every day.” She couldn’t help but smile she was so proud of him for working so hard to get out of the hospital.
day seven of crocheting a granny square every day until i get good or get bored
tomorrow imma start learning a new type of granny square
I accidently did a section of four in the first round and I didn't realise til I literally had just finished it and I cba going all that way back and doing it again so it staying lmao. other than that this square went pretty good.
I actually feel like it looks more square than the previous ones did???? which you love to see
day six of crocheting a granny square every day until i get good or get bored
today's square went well. I wrote down the instructions for making this so I didnt have to watch the vid thr whole time but I think I've got it memorised now. tomorrow imma make another one and then after that I think I'm gonna do a different kind of granny square everyday for the next seven days and then at the end of that I'll probs be done
I was planning on making enough to do a blanket but I don't think I have the colours for that and it would look kinda shit idk. like I'm all for a messy vibe colour-wise but there's messy and then there's me using the worst yarn I have that mostly are shit colours. I just think it would look bad
my squares are still kinda lopsided which is annoying. whenever I get a blocking board I'll be able to fix that but it would be nice if they were naturally a bit squarer looking lmao
day five of crocheting a granny square every day until i get good or get bored
I started out making it with just one colour but then realised I'd kinda forgot how to start the next round properly and I couldn't be bothered to find the video I watched so I was like okay imma do two colours.
while doing the two colours I was like I there was a different way of changing colours they showed in the video I watched that I wanna try and I should probs go back and watch the vid again to check how but uhh I couldn't be bothered so I just kinda made it up and hoped for the best
basically I was feeling lazy lmao. tomorrow I will be rewatching some stuff to jog my memory.
anyways despite my laziness I think this square came out okay. still not fully square shaped tho. I feel like its bc of the way I hold it, I kinda pull it a bit to the side without realising it. something to work on for sure
my plan atm is to do seven days of this square (so two more after this one) and then seven days of a new square and then maybe seven days of another new square. idk. I want to make a blanket out of all of these and I looked it up quickly and I think it said not all squares end up the same size so idk how it would work putting them in a blanket together. maybe getting a blocking board will help make them all the same even tho they're different patterns. i hope so bc if not I'm just gonna have a bunch of squares that idk what to do with
I did some more practice of the double crochet stitch (which I think I called the single in prev post lmao) and I've got pretty good at it minus it still being a bit tight. so I moved on to learning the half treble. my first attempt is shocking (left) but my third/fourth attempt (right) is definitely a lot better. at first I had the each row kept getting shorter bc I kept missing stitches on the end issue. I still need to practice it for sure but im getting there.
was gonna make this the start of me including four squares per post instead of just one but I had a lot to say so that went put the window. I also think it's kinda fun that I'm using this as not just a way of posting my squares but also a daily update on what I've been practicing
day four of crocheting a granny square every day until i get good or get bored
I feel like this one looks slightly more square than the previous ones, like the corners are sticking out a bit less
didn't follow the single colour tutorial for this like I did with yesterday's but I think I remembered it properly
in between doing this square and the previous one I made a little single crochet (idek if that's what it's called ngl) swatch as my first little attempt which im gonna keep and have since done two more practice pieces that I unravelled and didn't bother taking pics of but already there's an improvement so that's v cool. probs gonna practice a new stitch today and then also go back and do another practice of the single
I might start grouping 3 or 4 days together from now on, unless I have a ton to say about a specific square just so I'm not making a ton of posts idk
day three of crocheting a granny square every day until i get good or get bored
first square that's just a single colour, actually went pretty well???
I defo have issues with holding the hook and yarn too tight/loose, my tension is a bit all over the place. I also had a problem when I first started knitting where it was all too tight and that went away (for the most part) as I practiced so I'm not too worried about this.
I also feel like I hold the work in a weird way like I'm not ever sure what angle is the best way to hold it if that makes sense.
I'm thinking of either buying or asking my dad to make me a blocking board and potentially turning all these practice squares into something, probably a blanket (assuming I get to the point where I have enough to make a good size blanket, which i kinda have hope that I will)
so far these squares have been the only thing I've crocheted on each day but I'm gonna start just practicing various stitches. other than my first little square/rectangle attempt at each stitch I'm not gonna save these practices bc that's just a waste of yarn but I might try and take pics of each attempt to see my progress with each stitch idk.
there's SO many things I wanna make and now that I actually am able to make basic granny squares I'm like wow okay maybe if I keep practicing I'll eventually be able to make all these cool I've seen and cool things I have in my head omg
day two of crocheting a granny square every day until i get good or get bored
today's square is definitely not as good as yesterday's but I think overall it came out all right
it's bigger than the first one even tho I used the same size yarn but as I was making it I did feel like parts were looser, I think bc I don't fully have down the way of holding it yet and I don't think I was gripping the hook quite like I was yesterday so idk I probs just need to find the comfortable middle ground when it comes to gripping it
and there's also sections where there's little gaps and you can see the other colour between. also I think the yarn I used this time round isn't as good quality which might have a tiny bit to do with it generally looking a but messier.
I didn't use the tutorial for this one, I just did it from memory which actually was pretty easy
one good thing tho is I think I figured out the way of tying up each round(? is that what it's called?), so that is a bit neater. just gotta hope I remember it tomorrow lmao
overall its a bit of a step down from yesterday's square but I'm not worried about it
day one of crocheting a granny square every day until i get good or get bored
so I've been attempting to learn to crochet on and off for basically the same amount of time I've been knitting (two years) and pretty much what would happen is I'd try it for a couple of days, get frustrated bc I just was SO bad at it (I've now realised that was largely bc I was trying to do it right handed and not left handed) and then give up for four months before trying again and repeating that cycle
now I'm officially ready to stop avoiding practising and actually get to making stuff bc theres so many cute things i want to make but first I feel like practising something basic is the best way to start bc hopefully I won't get too frustrated and burn myself out. I also saw someone on tiktok doing this a couple months ago and was like hey that looks like fun
currently my plans are just to make a square a day and at a certain point I'll probably try doing different kinds of squares, maybe I'll alternate on set days, maybe I'll just stick to the basic one until I'm great at it and then move on to a different one. I have no idea. it basically just depends on how long it takes me to feel confident with this square and also how long it is before I get bored of making it. I'm hoping to do this for 28 days but like.. who tf knows what's happen
everyday imma put some thoughts on how each square went. I'm sure some days I'll have nothing to say and other days I'll have lots.
as for this first square, I fr think starting to learn how to make the first parts of it yesterday and then finally being good enough to actually do the entire thing start to finish in one go today is the first time with crocheting where I actually enjoyed doing it and didn't just get pissed off and quit which I think is a good sign for my skills but also my ability to know when to quit before I get too irritated (bc there was a few moments yesterday where I was like GOD I really want to do this but I've failed a couple times and am getting annoyed so I should probs just pause for a few hours).
I think my main issues atm are doing it kinda tight. like. I am GRIPPING that hook sometimes. and also knowing where to close of each row(? round? section?). bc the person in the video was like ah yes you see this bit here, this is where you connect it and I'm like.. it all just looks like yarn to me and so i'm kinda making a guess about where I'm connecting it which makes it look a bit weird line you can absolutely tell where the connection is on there.
tbh as issues go they don't feel too bad
oh and also I feel like its kinda weird that for my first ever square I did two colours and not just one??? idk. the video I watched did two so I was like okay I guess I'm doing two and honestly I feel like it ended up being better bc originally I was watching a different video and gonna do it with one colour and I felt like I couldn't see what was going on as clearly but I think having a different colour helped me out
