Bad Week

I recently purchased a Huion GT-220 and while I seen nothing but rave reviews about it, I have to say that I’m pretty bummed that at this point I can’t use this tablet at all.  

Software installation wise, I had the usual hiccup with Windows not playing nice but after a few internet searches I was able to clear that up and as far as I know the drivers are installed properly.   

However, it seems that no matter what I do, the tablet’s own software keeps declaring that its disconnected.  Therefore, the pens that it came with it don’t work at all.  I have tried every USB port in my computer and it doesn’t work.  My husband and I are suspecting that the tablet came with a bad USB cable and of course it’s the kind of cable you can only find online (an USB male to male)  The reason we suspect its the cable its because my computer won’t even acknowledge that something has been plugged in when I insert it into a port.  Anything else will work (my camera, speakers, etc) and will be acknowledged by the same port.  Basically, right now I have a pretty expensive second monitor sitting on my desk because the VGA connector works just fine on it.

The website does not offer replacements for the cable, so I went in search of a generic one that wasn’t file transfer specific and bought one.  It arrives today.  If this doesn’t work, we’re going to try customer support one last time, if not we’re returning the tablet to Amazon. 

Its incredibly disappointing.  I really wanted to use this tablet and invested my bonus money on it, so while I know I’m going to get my money back, there is a restocking/shipping fee that I’m going to have to pay on top of everything. While its not a huge amount of money for some people, it is to me.

Dammit, I just want this thing to work.
