GTEC Holdings Secures Key Licenses for Alberta Facility
GTEC Holdings Ltd. (TSXV: GTEC) can now sell recreational cannabis to provincial supply chains out of its facility in Edmonton after gaining a key license. The firm’s subsidiary, Alberta Craft Cannabis Ltd, operates the 14,000 square foot production facility. It has held a standard cultivation license for some time and it has been producing around 1,300 kg of cannabis there since April 2018. But it can now target provincial recreational supply chains, and it can also sell medical cannabis direct to patients via an e-commerce site, after it gained a Standard Processing license and a Sale for Medical Purposes licence from Health Canada. “We are extremely pleased to have achieved another major milestone for our shareholders and to further evolve the overall growth of the organization,” said Norton Singhavon, GTEC founder, chairman and chief executive. “We are excited to be in a position to utilize our unique and exotic cannabis cultivars to launch our ultra-premium brand portfolio into the adult-use market.” The new licenses will also allow GTEC’s other cultivation subsidiaries to sell to provincial supply chains, as GTEC can complete B2B transfers between its subsidiaries before selling the cannabis to the provinces. It also owns the Grey Bruce Farms operation in Kincardine, Ontario, and it secured a license to cultivate cannabis there earlier this month. It can now produce around 1,600 kg of marijuana there on an annualized basis, while it has another facility called Tumbleweed Farms. Alberta Craft Cannabis can sell their products on to supply chains across Canada. GTEC is producing cannabis at a cost of $1.11 per gram and wholesaling it at $5.86 per gram, leaving an estimated gross margin of 81% on products sold, excluding depreciation and amortization. It has reported increased demand for its cannabis, and the Grey Bruce license allows it to fulfill orders. Elsewhere, GTEC has agreed a $13 million deal to buy a cannabis cultivation facility in British Columbia from Canopy Growth. It now expects annualized production capacity to reach 18,000 kg next year as a result of all this activity. Read the full article
