“no.” ginela answered and glanced at thor, who still kept his distance. “i don’t know where i come from. odin found me as a baby and gave me a home but… i’m certain that i’m from another planet, i just don’t know which one yet. odin tells me i’m from a royal family because of my birthmark but i’m not sure. i hate not knowing who i am.”

“you do know who you are.” thor said and flashed her the weakest smile. “you’re a noble princess who’s kind and powerful. sometimes you have to make tough decisions but… in the end, you always do the right thing.”

“i used to be a well-respected guard. i protected the royal family like it was my own life and i protected the people of dramos. i loved my life but it was stolen from me one night as i was taken prisoner, by the same people who kidnapped and enslaved kory. she’s one of the reasons why i could even endure my time on that ship. i’m doing the best i can with my new life here but it’s tough and i know from experience that once kory remembers who she is, she’ll need support. and i will always, always support her.”

“roni knightley.” a male voice said as roni was gathering her papers from the desk. she looked up and frowned. “my name is bruce wayne.”

“i know who you are.” roni said and held her stuff against her chest. “what do you want from me?”

“your help. i know that you’re shadow, and i know you’ve been alive for a very long time. all i’m asking for is your assistance for a while and then i won’t bother you.” he answered, making her stare at him before turning away and trying to leave the classroom. “wait!”

“you’re crazy and if you don’t leave, i’ll call security.” she warned. before she could leave the room, he swiftly threw a sharp metal object toward her. roni raised her arms and sighed when his batarang bounced off her bracelets of submission. “so you’re batman? bruce wayne, billionare orphan? figures. whatever you want, i’m not helping you. i’m not like you or superman, i don’t want to spend half my life trying to save the world, i don’t want to create a secret identity and i want to keep my normal life.”

“you’ve engaged in battle before, why not now?”

“those were world wars. i’m not engaging in your personal vendetta against someone or some small town crimefighter. look, im not going to help. i’m happy with my life so don’t mess it up, mr. wayne.”

“as you wish, ms. knightley.” bruce said as he passed her, giving her a last look that only made her gulp. “goodnight.”
