Yanqing felt like he has just broken the most important order a higher up can bestow which was: to never disobey your superior.
His eyes could only stare at the ground as he stood his ground for his punishment, however, that punishment never came as soon as he felt a gentle hand rest upon his head.
He struggles to look fully at his mentor as his emotions were playing on his mind, hands slightly clenched as his body felt tense.
As soon as he heard the words that the General he served was proud of him and has raised him since birth, he was now trying his absolute best not to show tears as he deemed them as a form of weakness.
"I understand but General, you and I both know of this, it is my sworn duty as a cloud knight to protect you as you are of high authority and my mentor.
I couldn't just stand by and allow foes to get the upper hand on you, that is not what a soldier does. However, if you wish for me not to protect you and this is a order, as a knight, I must obey."
He replied before gritting his teeth reluctantly, wishing he was stronger than this.
