so all those books/artifacts/scrolls/pillars we find and give to species in ME3...

if you put aside the fact that this isn't really about museums/people stealing artifacts and/or ethics in the world of Mass Effect (because it's another post truly) but more about what they mean to those species, it seems like a lot of them have a Mufasa moment, right?

the point of recovering one artifact or another is just that: to remind their people of their history, culture, beliefs but most of all, to make them believe that they can do this, that they can fight. the artifact matters, it absolutely does, but is it necessary in this Reaper War? the idea is that it becomes necessary because it could get lost forever. and they believe that without it, they're uninspired, scared, unable to see the path ahead. they need to remember. they also need the comfort it all brings. so it has meaning, comfort, and deep roots.

but in general, i'm naive. i don't always see the negative aspects of things. so perhaps it's also about propaganda or a people's failure to react when they should, perhaps it's an excuse.

still. lately i've been thinking about this a lot, about the whole "remember who you are" because remembering means you somehow have lost sight of who you are. but it also assumes that you already know who you are. otherwise it would be "discover who you are."

and so much of mass effect, if you play it in a certain way in ME3 (obviously not everyone will follow this path) is about not losing your very essence. in dialogues, shepard can insist that no, you can't do this or that, or you'll lose your soul. in many conversations with EDI, you can encourage her to change her priorities and it highlights the fact that it's possible to be better than the enemies by not using their tactics or to be as ruthless as they are. i'm not quoting directly, usually I would have the quotes and all but i'm freestyling today lol.

the point is that ME3 shows the very conditions that make it very easy for people to lose themselves entirely. javik is there as a counterpoint for a reason. hey! what does honor mean when so many are dead? do you hear the ghosts, do you hear them? so how is it possible to be anything other than this, in the moment, after everything? if you can't remember something beautiful and special, you can remember something ugly, tragic, something that hurts you. being asked to remember who you are (as a part of a collective or as the collective - in his case the protheans) becomes more of an insult that a call to be inspired.

now if you put aside the collective and even the fictional, i wonder about real life, about the personal. what does "remember who you are" means? i don't have a specific answer, but i do feel that you cannot have something external as your anchor. or more specifically, someone external. i believe your anchor should be internal, it should be yourself. you should love yourself, and care for yourself, and believe in yourself. and if you lose sight of yourself, then yes, you should remember who you are. but it's harder if your memory is tainted, if your very life has circumstances that make it hard to believe in yourself as an anchor. we don't have the same trials, failures and pains after all. and what does help you to remember? and you can only remember if you have already discovered, right? so somewhere along the way, you discover yourself, you figure out what makes you you, and what you're fighting for... so that in a time of crisis -which is why you need to remember- you can find something deep inside yourself that makes you go on. and you have to go on. the only way out is through.

what a journey it all is in the end. this post is all over the place, i'm sorry. and it all started because i went all over the galaxy map to gather everything and deliver it all to everyone on the citadel...

Lohen may act the way he does, however, he does it to battle the trauma he has endured for most of his life. It makes him feel alive, like he matters. I wonder how others would react if they see him suddenly not be himself, like overly quiet. Will he be questioned about this? Who knows. ;-;

Him just humming a song known as “Run Rabbit” as he looks at the vial of poison in his right hand, a smirk as the green hue glints in the warm sunlight.

I didn’t even realize this, I was out for a small bit plucking some blueberries and strawberries from the plants we have in our small garden as me and my family live in the country. It was 31 degrees Celsius today without humidity and probably 38 with it, the sun is now going down and my arms were stinging.

Turned out, I got a bit of a sunburn so I placed some zinc cream on it to stop the burning and itch feeling. That made me think, if I got a sunburn from being out for a minute or two, imagine if longer. Stay cool and hydrated out there everyone! ☀️
