Two weeks later and once again, Peeves had found Ali in her room, this time working on a letter to her father. With all the missions lately she hadn't had time for her usual biweekly trip down- and she knew he worried. He hadn't wanted her in the pirate life, necessarily, and he wanted to keep her safe.
"Ali? Er, boss lady?" Ali paused in her letter writing and looked up. "That friend of yours is here. Lexil."
"Lexi's here?" Signing off her letter with a flourish, she slipped it in the envelope and sealed it, using her necklace pendant as the press. "What's she doing here? That baby of hers is only two years old." Handing the letter off to Peeves, she hurried down the stairs. Several of the hired recruits relaxed around the bar area, but she didn't see their leader. They hadn't spoken since that afternoon when Kalinka's girls had paid their visit, and he'd told her she was pretty- something that hadn't left the back of her mind since.
Shaking her head, she spotted Lexi in the back corner, lurking with a bottle. "Lexi! What a surprise, it's so good to see you. How have you been?"
