[She's the Man|| Toby & Ali]
"Captain Adrian!" A mousy, squat little man hurried across the deck and up to the quarter deck, waving frantically at the men in his way. Above him, by the rudder and giving frustrated directions to a bewildered navigator, was the captain in question- a shorter, red-haired man who wore a heavy coat despite the heat.
"What is it, Peeves?" With a final exasperated head shake, Adrian rolled up the map and stuck in his belt. They needed to get out of town quickly- attacking a Queen's ship required it, unless they all wanted to hang by sunset. Unfortunately, their navigator- an American that they'd picked up trying to swindle one of the men out of their hard-earned wages- was completely incompetent and would be no good.
"Captain! We got'em!" Behind him, three ragged looking men were tied together at the wrists- slightly bruised, covered in smoke and gunpowder. One a short man of Asian descent; the next a bulky bald man; and the last, a rather tall, bronzed man.
Hands behind his back, he inspected the new recruits. It took a certain type of man to work on his ship; one that didn't ask too many questions of the captain. The last one that had, got himself thrown overboard at midnight. One man on board- the first mate, a friend of Adrian's since childhood- knew the secret that kept itself on this vessel.
The first impression he got was not a good one; it seemed unlikely the shaking Asian man would be worth anything besides a deck swabber, which she had two or three of already- and the mountain next to him didn't look smart enough to take orders. What those two men had been doing on a royal ship, he had no idea... but the last on the row could prove useful. He had a sharp, determined look, and the build of a sailor.
Analysis complete, he turned to face them and gave them the speech he gave to all that were shanghaied by the Obsidian Dawn. Just the general runthrough- and introductions. "I am Captain Adrian Chaozu, son of the feared commander of the South China Sea. Now, who might you be?"
