Interior Castles a collaborative project with @stevekemple at the @cincycac May 23rd in the Black box FREE PERFORMANCE. (this is the 3rd of the 4 performances I am a part of for #archiveasaction) I LOVE how the communal choir robe (which evolved out of an awesome conversation I had with @upspiralcreative) has existed in SO many ways. The first images (1-3) are of the first performance that took place at the @chicagopubliclibrary in 2013. The next few images (4-7) are of two really important (to me) shows I did with @vogds in 2014. We called these performances #summercamp and we performed a series of actions combining our recent props in a variety of ways and did these performances at the #GuerrillaTruckShow and #RapidPulse festivals in Chicago that year. The last few images are by the always amazing @graceduval. They feature a section of a performance that the choir robe made an appearance in by the @atomr_performance performance collective last fall. This piece was called “Rhinestone Cowboy.” It was an INCREDIBLE piece to experience. Steve and Annie and I have been talking about using the Choir robe in Cincinnati in interesting ways for YEARS. Steve and I have been working on making this performance a reality for a year. It is always a privilege to work with @stevekemple. But I really feel like this piece is going to be SPECIAL and POWERFUL. I am SO excited to get to experience the first score (performed by the UC ensemble choir) by Steve and share the (now doubled in size) choir robe with #cincinnati for the first time. To make it even more special - - Steve wrote the lyrics to his piece from hypnotism sessions with 4 amazing @artacademyofcincinnati students, under that beautiful beach photo in #archiveasaction that was a collaboration with @graceduval. I had dreamed about that photo for years, and it was meant to be a contemplative otherworldly image, to encourage people to dream, dreams being the primary medium Steve works in.
