Well deserved motherfucking upgrade: A rant
I have worked for the same hospitality management company for two years. In those two years some crazy shit has happened that you wouldn’t believe if I told you, and honestly it would take almost two years to type out. But what I can say is that I have recently stopped dead in my tracks and switched career gears. I am now in law as a legal receptionist/assistant. And I have say IT IS SO MUCH OF AN UPGRADE FROM THAT SHITTY FRONT DESK AGENT BULLSHIT I HAD TO PUT UP WITH.
At the hotel I got minimal pay for working way harder that I should have, getting verbally and emotionally abused everyday. In TWO MOTHERFUCKING YEARS I got NO vacation, NO insurance, and LIES when it came to promotions.
Now, I have better pay, and promise of a raise if deserved in 90 days + insurance w/ no premium, and in a year if I’m still accelerating, a possible promotion, which I will gladly take and oh yeah TWO MOTHERFUCKING WEEKS OF VACATION (per year). So fuck getting treated like scum, like I’m below someone by general mangers, assistant general managers, director of sales, and sales coordinators who got promotions over me. FUCK EVERYONE.
I don’t regret working in hospitality because it has taught me so much about people, about work and life in general, but I am so goddamn happy I’m not in that circus anymore. The only thing I regret is not telling my last general manager to ‘get fucked’.
