We just received a supply of Adventure Medical Kits Professional Suture/Syringe Kits.
I consider this kit essential when traveling to third world countries or anywhere else where sterile components are not always available. It is even more important when I'm traveling with a group, as I do while leading teams to rebuild after natural disasters. More people simply increase the likelihood of significant injury.
On relief trips like these I also take along my Adventure Medical Guide 1, the same first aid kit I carry on wilderness trips. It is an excellent well rounded kit, perfect for anyone looking for a great professional first aid solution. It is designed for outdoor professionals with either Wilderness Emergency Medical Technician (WEMT), Wilderness First Responder (WFR) or Wilderness Advanced First Aid (WAFA) certification.
I keep a pack of Z-Medica's 25g QuikClot Sport in my Guide 1 just in case, as it is designed to save lives by stopping rapid bleeding. This is the same emergency dressing Adventure Medical packs into its Professional Tactical Field/Trauma Kit.
When not traveling I keep my AMK Guide 1 w/QuikClot with my emergency preparedness supplies. For me there is no excuse for being unprepared when such great products are readily available - not when this small investment could mean the difference between life or death.
Another Adventure Medical Kits product we carry is the Tactical Field/Trauma Kit w/ QuikClot. I carry this one when upland bird hunting. It is easily stowed in a bird bag or attached with MOLLE type webbing loops. It has the essentials to stop or control bleeding for me, my hunting companions or our dogs. It is compact and affordable, giving me no reason not to carry it when participating in activities that could result in life threatening injuries.
