I’ve seen a couple times of an au where you’re the guide for the Chain, but they don’t remember you at first until you do or say something that triggers their memory of you.

Little imagine for whichever of the Chain of your choosing when they’ve freshly remembered you: You get dragged by him, then he wraps you up in a tight hug and nuzzles his head against yours. He then says, “Y/N! I’m so happy to see you again! I was getting worried that I’d never see you again.” His voice hitches, “I missed you so much-!” He then bursts into tears onto your shoulder. You gently shush him and tell him it’s okay while rubbing and patting his back. For the few days, he’s super clingy and very protective of you.

I like thinking about a reader who is a lot like Joel from The Last of Us. Lost someone close to them like a brother/son/nephew/cousin/etc. and shut people out afterwards. Went years turning away the world. Wary of strangers and even acquaintances, trusting maybe one person completely (from home world), and does not want to be with the group.

Only later in their travels does reader grow closer with the boys and more protective, until eventually the chain is taken(like Ellie) by a too massive/powerful hoard and its just reader left to try and get them out. Que taking out a bigass base (or multiple, damn Joel 😭🙏🏻) on their own to save the people they now view as family in the most brutal way possible, all morals out the window.

(Also, connecting to your older posts, you mention that Matthew Hopkins was worse than belos since the 'witches' he captured were just innocent people he framed. Do you think with this hindsight, while still not refraining his hatred for witches, would view Matthew Hopkins as a criminal since he knows exactly the biology of witches vs humans?

Considering the goals, Belos would find Hopkins evil. But that's due to hindsight. If they had been around each other at the time, he would have been coerced into thinking Hopkins was the hero the man thought he was. And the funny thing about the WHG stuff is if Philip and Caleb were indeed in Gravesfield by 1613 like the story says, Hopkins isn't born yet nor was the term created until Hopkins was an adult in England during the English Civil War. He's the only one who used the title WitchFINDER General though it was never officially bestowed on him by Parliament. How Belos even knew about the title is beyond me. Belos, to his credit, knew witches and humans were two different beings by the time he was in the Boiling Isles so anyone going after other humans the way Hopkins did would put a bad taste in his mouth.

Do you ever think about the characters who don't like violence? Like Heizou who prefers fighting with his words more than with his fists or Xingqiu who dislikes using his vision in battle? That's an interesting situation considering you can't play a pacifist route of Genshin.

I think about it a lot and they're the main reason I'm not always sold on the typical God!Au's but I think it's an interesting thought of those characters who are in so much emotional pain as they kill and commit murder against others just like them while hearing [Name] in the background, repeating how proud they are, how they're going to use the items from these being's corpses to make them more powerful.

Can you honestly claim [Name] is a kind god after knowing this?

Hmmm. Well I think that at the end of the day; those enemies are hostile. Meaning even if you don’t provoke them, they’ll still attack on sight. In that manner, I would say that it’s a matter of survival. Sure, you COULD try to reason with a hilichurl; but unless it’s an Ella Musk commission; your getting a bat to the face.

While it’s true that the guide is seeking out these battles; it’s not as if the characters aren’t benefiting from the results.

In my mind, it’s down a matter of ‘the lesser of two evils’. Either one, you can fight the monsters and reduce their number; thus lessening the chance some civilian gets attacked and hurt by them or two; you can avoid them by fleeing.

Either way, something wants the Vision Bearers dead; and if I was in the Guide’s place there’s no way in hell I’m lettin that happen.

Stupid Guy Thing Day & World Rainforest Day

Person A works as a guide for small groups of rich people wanting to go on exotic adventures into the wilderness, and Person A spends most of their time keeping their incredibly oblivious guests alive. Person B is a college student from a rich family, dragged along on an exotic family vacation to the rainforest and Person A is their guide/survival expert. But while on their vacation, the apocalypse happens and Person B’s family wealth is now meaningless — but for some reason that Person B, due to being someone raised in an extremely capitalistic thinking family, cannot fathom, Person A keeps trying to keep Person B and their family alive due to Person A’s strong moral code. Person B, worried that Person A will come to their senses and abandon them all, begins to learn as much about survival as they can from Person A and begins to work towards helping Person A keep their family members alive.
