The Guide has a New Look!

I don’t know why I didn’t mention this earlier, but I changed the coloring of my guide and the FAQ. Someone told me that pitch-black on stark white was painful to read for them, so I didn’t hesitate to think of a better color scheme for the guide. Soon after that, I settled on this:

The black is less saturated with some blue tossed in and the background is a pastel blue, and I think this makes the guide look a lot better. Because the colors aren’t so harsh, you don’t get that “halo effect” when reading it, which apparently helps dyslexic readers like two of my friends. Not only that, but it makes the guide visually unique from the others.  So for those who couldn’t read the guide because of the color scheme, I hope this is a lot better to read! 11-21-2020

New Section Done and New Year’s Resolution Complete!

I’ve done it! I’ve reached my goal of 65 pages, 35 sections for my Tulpamancy guide in early November. I’ve legitimately completed my New Year’s Resolution, more like pulverized it, in fact.

The guide’s now 52,166 words long and a total of 84 pages. Not including the section goal, I went over my page goal by nineteen pages. The last version before 2020 was Christmas Eve in 2019, and by then, the guide was 30 sections, 48 pages, and 28, 346 words long. Shockingly in the span of a year, the guide has nearly doubled in size, especially if you count the FAQ despite just adding five new sections. 

Kind of wish I didn’t shoot for 35 sections because I kind of had to grasp at straws for the last one, but oh well. Now with the latest section: Recording Progress! Seriously don’t know how many people that section is going to help, but hey, it’s there. Like always, feedback is appreciated. Now that I’m done with that, I’m probably going to read over my guide again and fix areas that I now find problematic and in need of improvement. Also, just a few weeks away from now, the guide’s going to be three years old now. Wow.

Anyway, I’ve made it this far!

Guide Updates

Yesterday, I finished a section of my guide on blending! All that’s left on my to-do list of sections to add is how Tulpamancy can impact dreams, which is... hmm...

Basically, I set my New Year’s resolution to be to have my guide at 65 pages long with 35 sections, but even when I add the tulpas and dreams section, I’m one short. Originally, the FAQ was supposed to take up a section, but I decided against that and just put it in the extras section. So now, I’m met with kind of a dilemma. What do I add for the 35th section?

If anyone has a suggestion that would be relevant for a Tulpamancy guide, I’d be glad to hear it. Also, sorry for not posting much lately, just didn’t think to post, really.

Finally added a new section to my guide: a section about intrusive thoughts. Rylazide motivated me to do it. Thanks, Rylazide.

One thing I definitely made sure to add was the difference between regular impulsive thoughts and the legitimately harmful intrusive thoughts that those with mental illness/disorders experience. The guide is at 32 sections now... wow.

More Guide Updates

I’m so close to beating my New Year’s resolution, but the only idea I have for a new section is iffy. A follower gave the suggestion about a section about how to track and record progress and/or a section on how to make a guide. How to make a guide within a guide? I don’t even know how many of my readers would even benefit from that. There’s no point adding a section that nobody benefits from, y’know?

Though, a section on how to track progress? It’d be a pretty brief section, which isn’t bad in of itself, but it still feels weird and I still don’t know how many people would benefit from that, either. Would anyone benefit from it? I really don’t know, and even though I want to beat my resolution, I don’t think it’d be worth it if it was just filler because that’s exactly what I don’t want in my guide. Lots of Tulpamancy guides have pointless fluff and filler, and my guide is literally complimented for not having that, you know? I’ve already come so far, anyway. I literally pulverized the 65 page goal, I just didn’t know ahead of time how rough it’d be to write 35 sections, I guess.

So other than that, I do have a minor thing that I need to add to the guide later, as a friend reminded me that it exists and that I should mention it somewhere. I’m happy with how the guide is going. I may just take this opportunity to look over sections again and update them; it’s just a good thing in general to look back on your work and see if it still meets up to your own quality standards-- especially if you’re like me and you work on things very gradually and if the piece is something like a guide. 

Either way, just wanted to post this update and to maybe get some opinions on that.

It’s just one of those days where I feel drowsy. Arcanus fronted for a bit to deal with something along with tidying up our room a bit, I finished the sketch for Azide’s future profile picture, and now I’m just sitting here, tired. I know the moment I go to lay down, I’m going to suddenly stop feeling tired. It’s alright, though. Some days are just like that.

I mean, yesterday, I got a good amount of progress done on updating the guide and Azide even added more to the FAQ when he was fronting yesterday. Right now, we’ve moved onto the switching section of the FAQ and I’m updating section 23 of the guide, so there’s not much left of the guide to update! Once the outdated sections are updated, I can finally add the four new sections I’ve listed to add, which should allow me to complete my New Year’s resolution, which was to get my guide to at least 35 sections and 65 pages. Progress is progress no matter how small it is.

Anyway, sorry there aren’t many informative posts, I just have days where I don’t do much and today is definitely one of those days.
