Guilded Cube Draft #45
This pack is alright. The Nalaar parents are very powerful, Mulldrifter has so much value, Counterspell is fantastic. Animate Dead is one of the best reanimation spells, Arcane Savant can be truly broken, and Shriekmaw is fantastic. I think the pick is between Mulldrifter and Animate Dead, but there are arguments for all the other picks.
Guilded Cube Draft #30
This pack is decent. Death Cloud is really powerful in the right archetype, but it should wheel. If it doesn’t, you shouldn’t be in that archetype. Cryptic Command is absurd and wins so many games, but it commits us to heavy blue. The Guilded Cube does not have much for fixing, so we most likely will not be able to cast this before turn 5. Goblin Rabblemaster is really great, so I have no problems taking it here. Oracle of Mul Daya ramps us so much and is definitely worth the first pick. Flametongue Kavu is incredible, so I wouldn’t mind taking that, and Ponder is also very good, but my eye is on a really ugly white bordered card that is banned in every format: Channel. This card is so absurdly powerful. At dead worst, it lets you ramp out a 6-drop on turn for. At best, it allows for a turn two Ugin, or Kozilek, or Emrakul. Or anything really. The life is a significant cost, but well worth it if we’re hardcasting dumb 8, 9, or 10 mana things.
Random Card of the Day #23
Energy Tap. This cards seems so cool!! In my ideal world, I power out an eldrazi, tap the eldrazi to get 10 mana, and use that mana to cast another eldrazi. Despite that being magical Christmasland, this card doesn’t seem bad, yet I’ve never seen it played at all. It seems like the blue version of Dark Ritual, and with all of blue’s card advantage... it really seems like a slam dunk. I have one of these in my cube, and Powering out a 6-drop on turn 4 with the help of a 2/2 seems fantastic, yet I’ve never cast Energy Tap in my cube. So why isn’t this card good?

SOVEREIGN’S REALM!!! That conspiracy is my favorite card in cube. You get to play every single card, regardless of everything. Other than that, pack rat, cryptic command, booster tutor, Shriekmaw, Serum Visions and Scooze are great. But I love the Conspiracy, so I’m taking it here.

Unpopular opinion: I love Unexpected Potential. This cube discourages decks with more than two colors, and splashing is somewhat difficult. Unexpected Potential allows for a FREE splash! I think the best play I ever made with the conspiracy was in this U/R instant/sorcery deck. I was able to play Lingering Souls and flash it back, thanks to Unexpected Potential. The rest of the pack isn’t incredible either, other notable cards are the Tomb and Archangel of Tithes. Everything else is kinda meh.
