quick rant because i've seen too many of these posts lately
i honestly can't stand those "like/reblog if you hate ---, scroll past if you don't care :(" like... okay. so. you're saying because you click a button or reblog so you can show off what a good person you are, you're better than me? yeah, you're doing a whole world of difference! i bet those starving children are so relieved you clicked 'like' on that picture of them! or that little kid with cancer is now recovering by some miraculous turn of events! here's an idea: how about you link to a donation group, or inform people how they can help, instead of making these absolutely useless posts in order to feel all high and mighty about yourself? go out there and do something, and for the people who aren't, but want to - make it easier for them. this is a thing that pisses me off with vegan activists as well. i'm all for a vegan diet and informing people of what goes on behind closed curtains, but the problem is NEVER that people aren't moral enough to do something about it. they just lack the means. it seems too much and too big. it feels like a wave of hopelessness, and that will guarantee that nothing will be done. guilt-tripping is by far the stupidest and most unproductive way of getting people to help. INFORMATION! ACCESS! people want to help, so let them. encourage them. let them know it does make a huge difference. if you're going to brag about what a great person you are, then at least include something useful.
whenever a post starts off with "instead of reblogging pictures of girls in bikinis" i'm just like nope, you lost me, i don't care anymore.
