TO PUT IT PLAINLY , STANLEY WAS OVERWHELMED. Just seconds ago he was standing in the office like any other day , and then he was seated in some strange room with a strange man talking to him. A strange man that he could actually see. And then he walked out of the strange building and there were more people. Something that he never in his life could've ever expected to see. Not after . . well , he couldn't even recall how long it's been since he's seen another person's face. Since he's heard the voice of someone other than the Narrator.
HE'S NOT SURE WHETHER HE'S HAPPY OR NOT. He had gotten used to the silence , used to the absence of people and the same familiar hallways of the office building. But now there's the bright light of the sun shining down on him and the noise of people talking ringing in his ears.
THERE WAS PART OF HIM THAT WANTED TO GO HOME. Wherever that even was. The office wasn't truly his home , was it ? It was where he existed , sure , but he didn't do much else there. Here , however , he could finally live. Not that he was completely sure of what living even entailed.
FIRST THING'S FIRST , FIND WHEREVER THE HELL he was supposed to sleep. But . . maybe he could detour and get himself a drink. A real drink. With alcohol in it. He enters the nearest bar he sets his eyes on and settles into the first empty stool he can find. He signs his order to the bartender ' one beer ' , because that's really all of the alcohol he can remember. After staring at the bartender for a moment , his attention turns to the man he's seated next to. A real human , at least he thinks he is. Looks like it. He turns his head away after a second of staring , fingers tapping nervously against the bottle the bartender hands him.
