Well, time to get my blood sacrifices for the season 2 gods ready.
Well, here’s an announcement
By the time you see this post, it’s been at least a week on my drafts, and it’ll have gone through at least 3 edits. Talk about being good at overthinking, huh? Anyway, not the usual sort of stuff from me, as it turns out. I’m very good at being vague but not very good at actually bringing things up. But this is the announcement I mentioned I’d make some time ago, so here goes!
Basically, I’ve determined, after a lot of questioning, that I’m trans. It took me the longest time to properly come to terms with it, and instead I was doing a great job at making my life harder than it should be. So I’m finally starting to move towards it, and you could say this is basically a new beginning for me!
So yeah, as for pronouns, it’s she/her now. And name? Well, I don’t mind if anyone sticks to Gui since it’s nice, short and easy to remember, and also because honestly I haven’t quite figured this part out (How do you name, is it edible), but once I have a clearer idea, I’ll be sure to update you. Will be fun to figure out, I suppose!
Beyond that... yeah, I guess that’s that! Don’t worry about any slip ups if that does happen, I totally get it! Will take some time to get used to on both ends. Any questions, well, my askbox is always open. Or you can use the message thingy, it doesn’t get enough use anyway.
And yeah, that’s pretty much the deal. I think I made that go on for way longer than it needed to, but here we are. Thank you for taking your time to read this, and I hope you have a fantastic day, friends!
While I’m still sad about YumiHisu and those last few scenes hurt (even though I’m still really confident on my post ch. 93 theory), the good news is, EreHisu BROtp moments are coming next year.
Let me tell you, there’s gonna be nonstop screaming from me when chapter 66 gets animated. Both OTP AND BROtp in one chapter? It’s honestly amazing.
Let’s talk chapter 93. Because this is definitely one that’s already caused all levels of controversy, but I want to look at the thing in depth.
The thing being Ymir’s fate. While it’s easy to take at face value “yup, she’s dead”, isn’t it just... strange? This is Isayama we’re talking about, a man who frankly shows little to no restraint when it comes to brutal deaths. From all the lovely titans eating people scenes, to having humans blowing each other’s heads wide open (remember Nifa?), he makes sure we see those fates. This is the man who ended up rewriting Sasha’s death only because it was so horrifying it made his editor lock himself in a bathroom and cry.
Now, let’s look at Ymir’s “death” again. He only needed one more panel displaying Galliard in titan form eating her. That’s it. Hell, you could keep the dialogue but instead of showing Galliard saying it, you could have that moment in the background. That decision alone is very strange, I think. For a man who doesn’t shy away from utter brutality, not showing it is something unusual. Which tells me one of two things: Either there’s more to what happened in that place than what we saw... or Ymir ain’t quite dead yet.
Now, of course, it’s looking far more like she’s done for already. But there’s also a fair amount of inconsistencies. For instance, Galliard’s titan looking pretty much unidentifiable from Ymir’s. We’ve officially seen that Armin became a colossal titan with features from his own mindless titan. Same for pretty much everyone. As far as I know, only Ymir, strangely enough, had a very minimal change in features after getting shifter powers. And frankly, I don’t see Galliard’s mindless titan form looking as cool as his current form. Could be that, yeah, she didn’t fully process the jaw titan somehow. But that’s still strange. There’s just a lot that doesn’t quite fit right now regarding Ymir and Galliard. We’ve nothing on Marcel’s titan form, there’s still Zeke’s mysterious titan manicure (seriously, the nail change from CotT to RtS bugs me), and all the other things.
At this point, though, there’s just something weird about it. Either she’s dead but there’s more to it than what we saw and we’ll get that info later, or she isn’t, Galliard somehow saw her memories (Zeke DOES have royal blood) and we’ve got the correct 9 titan count, and we’ll still get the info later. And unless the 9th titan is a really impressive lategame surprise that changes everything, it just felt right to me that Galliard’s reveal was that of the 9th shifter.
Depending on the pacing of the anime, next chapter should be out between episodes 10 and 11, which if they pace right should be covering chapters 48 through 50 (I suspect chapters 51/52 will cap off the season), which means we’ll be getting Ymir’s big decisions, and considering Isayama’s timing with this chapter/episode (regardless of Golden Week, this would still be fresh on people’s minds) he has the perfect chance to pull something off by matching the anime and the manga. We’ll see soon enough.
It’s just... odd. Something’s off here, so even if Ymir’s indeed dead, there’s gonna be more to it than that, I think. Regardless of her status, this is definitely not the last we’ve seen of her, that much I’m certain of.
I fucking told you guys. I fucking said it after the Federation Force reveal, they just needed to set up the footing for a Prime 4 or a sequel to Fusion considering the series’ penchant for blowing up pretty much every threat. 3 planets have been completely destroyed in the process of the series taking out most of the main threats, after Fusion I’d need an essay long explanation as to how Ridley could come back from that (yeah, it’s silly in prior games but after Fusion it’d be a lot to buy), and they just needed to figure out where to take things from there. Sylux and the metroid hatchling from the ending of Federation Force makes for a great setup, and Sylux has the potential to be a genuinely great villain. Plus, that ending gives us more to Sylux than just “I’M STALKING YOU FROM MY SHIP” from Prime 3 (which even had people arguing if it was Sylux to begin with).
Honestly? I’m hyped. Since I played Hunters I’ve wanted either Sylux or Trace/the Kriken to have a bigger role since they’d make for great antagonists, and now here we are. Bring on main villain Sylux, Nintendo.
Acchi Kocchi is a delight and very much worth watching

Now I want to reread the Umineko manga again. I actually went through Episode 8 just a few weeks ago since a friend of mine finally finished reading it (after about 6 months of being the slowest reader on earth).
Confessions of the Golden Witch alone is so worth it. If there’s one episode that worked mostly better on manga than on VN, it was episode 8, I think. I love episode 8 but the manga just gave me a hell of a lot more appreciation for it.
I do say mostly because of the lack of music reading the manga and having to do that manually, but I ain’t complaining about that, it just gives me an excuse to go back through the playlist.
