There is ice in her veins, frost freezing her body in place as pure adrenaline engulfs her. She turns and stares back into the face of hatred beating down on her in the heat of an easy kill. Everything blurs. She waits for the darkness that comes at the end of the story - but none comes. Opening her eyes, the angel is met with a smile as wide & as brightly lit as any sun in this godforsaken universe. Angela grins just as wide as she leans in to press her lips over the girl's cheek. The stifling, choking smell of death coated everything. Lena doesn’t think. She doesn’t second guess herself. She simply moves. Weapons spit. A body drops, then another. Someone fires, but Lena is long gone, slipping through time as easily as breathing. The benefits of immortality. Hardly worth the costs, but that was a debate for later.
