how could anyone think toads are ugly. look at that face!! . . . . ————————————————————toads are a sign of a healthy garden free of unnecessary chemicals and pesticides. by eating so many bugs, they keep pests from eating your plants and from bothering you. if you notice a toad in your yard and want them to stick around (you do), give them shelter in the form of a turned over flower pot, propped open with bricks or rocks. they like to hide in small, dark, cool places during daytime. a small, shallow soaking pond will also entice them to stick around. it needs to be shallow enough for them to sit in without submerging themselves, and they need to be able to easily enter and exit as they can drown if they get stuck. they also tend to like gardens/yards with plenty of pots and plants to hide under while they’re out hunting. ———————————————————— finally, they do not carry tons of diseases (or cause warts) as many people seem to believe. while you should refrain from handling wild toads unless absolutely necessary, simply washing your hands after handling them, or any amphibian or reptile for that matter, should suffice. #toads #gulfcoasttoad #inciliusnebulifer
