What is Gun Milan in Marriage?
Gun Milan is a traditional Vedic astrology method used to assess compatibility between two individuals for marriage. It is part of the Kundli matching process and is based on the Ashta Koot system, which evaluates the harmony between the bride and groom across eight key aspects (Koots).
A total of 36 Gunas (points) are matched between the horoscopes of both partners. The higher the number of matched Gunas, the better the compatibility is considered.
🧿 The Eight Koots in Gun Milan:
Varna – Spiritual compatibility
Vashya – Mutual control or attraction
Tara – Health and well-being
Yoni – Sexual compatibility
Graha Maitri – Mental compatibility and friendship
Gana – Nature and temperament
Bhakoot – Love, prosperity, and family harmony
Nadi – Genetic compatibility and health of offspring
🪔 Importance in Marriage:
Score of 18 or more out of 36 is generally considered acceptable for marriage.
Special attention is given to Nadi Dosha and Bhakoot Dosha, as these can indicate serious incompatibilities.
