yes yes i went through this obsessive hp phase in middle school and was super-nerdy about it but didnt really blog obviously so i was embarrassed but yes i have read them all too many times to count

i think all latin teachers are insane. Mine enjoyed giving us wrong tests on chapters we just started to make sure we were on top of our game

i think it's just a fact that everyone who teaches latin is cuckoo for coco puffs. mine would go on random rants about doctor who in class and make really inappropriate sexual jokes and it was an experience to say the least.

Okay well you guys asked

A week or so ago, I posted my piece and asking for some help and got some amazing feedback! A couple of people asked me to post the second part when I had it so here it is

Read if you dare

a procedure or course, as if in a circuit, back to a starting point.

  We find ourselves lost in the maze between my infinity and yours. Every 86, 400 seconds the earth spins once, and the funny thing is we never realized one damn thing. You are lost in your unit circle and I in my plastic globe, and it doesn’t matter if your eyes blaze like twin headlights on a darkened road.

Every 31,560,000 seconds, the earth rotates once around the sun, a spinning carousal of stars and light and noise. And somewhere across the ocean, a baby is born. And isn’t funny the first thing we do when our skin meets the air is cry.

Every 12 seconds, you inhale once. A galaxy of air spins through your wildflower lungs, and carbon dioxide dances out your fractured-glass lips.

Every .5903 seconds, someone stops breathing. You can hear the space between their heartbeats, and no one can look each other in the eye.

It’s been 458,600 seconds, and I am not sure if we have gone anywhere. I am not sure any of us have gone anywhere. See, I don’t think we ever move. We just stay in the same spot, always spinning back to the starting point, waiting for the earth to turn under our feet, waiting for the tide to suck the sand back into the sea, waiting until we are buried alive under our own gravestones, because the earth has revolved 17 times since I took my first breath, and I am not sure I have moved one inch.

  II. the usually violent attempt by many people to end the rule of one government and start a new one

There was something insidious in the air we breathed.

The poison was in the air—putrid, vile, scraping the stars from the cracked plaster of the sky, scraping the skin from our throat—and our voices were hoarse and deafeningly quiet.

We thought that they were stifling the fire in our chest

Oh God where’s the oxygen

We thought that they were wrong and we were right and what we didn’t know was—

 I can’t breathe

you could scream with paper lungs and nobody would hear it.

There was something hollow in us.

It was if we were boneless, cracked, crooked, gaping toothless mouths like black holes and we would suck the blood from the earth if we needed to.

We threw the bodies in the ocean.

They were stinking up the city and so we just let them drop like cement comets and it was like they had died again—we were watching them drown under the gray

Every 12 seconds

bobbing like teeth, grasping hands that reached for something we couldn’t see, as if to tell us something in concrete voices, and they were nameless, inanimate, and the water filled their hollow lungs, falling delicately like

you inhale once

shadowed rain.

There were no goodbyes when we left, only the silent conviction that where there was duty, there was a body count.

And we fought until our skin was laced with bruises,

waiting for the tide to suck the sand back into the sea

our glass hands bloody and fragile, fought like dying stars, fought like were already dead, like we were under those gray waves too—

And then you could smell the stench of that poison in the air, blurring our vision and the spaces between our bones

And when they told us we won, we knew that we hadn’t.
