I like your idea of one of gurjins cousins being in in love with rian then getting there hopes crushed when rian and gurjin say they're together

I'm probably not going to write this, since I tend to never finish fanfictions, but I will at least give some content!
(I put everything under the cut cause this is a giant ass post)
CHARACTER:
I imagine it to be either a he/him, or a he/they kinda guy, and his name would be something like Jengar (Zhenn-garr).
My idea is that he's just a bigger, better version of Gurjin (smarter-but a bit too confident-bigger, and buffer since I imagine he'd higher ranking than Gurjin as a castle guard. He's motivated to be better than Gurjin because he thinks he got this job easily since he's basically a prince), with his hair pulled back and trying to look all high and mighty--which, I mean, he is; maybe not personality wise, but self-made status-wise, and attire wise--with his better, heavier armor. And, hell- if this is in your AU, he might even be one of the male gelflings with wings. Unlike Rian, he takes very good care of them, and trains every day to get better at flying. It might not be a huge difference, but now he can carry lighter gelflings when he flies.
I imagine he has longer hair than Gurjian, that he usually keeps up in a fancy knot for convenience. He would have two bumps on the edges of his eyebrows, (he doesn't have any, but uhh I don't really know if it's called something else if you don't have eyebrows tbh.) and one on each side at the start of them. He also has a big ass forehead, which has two slightly large bumps-almost like horns, which I imagine he would be mocked for as a childling.
MEETING:
For as to how they met, I'd like for it to be in the castle, before Gurjin and Rian are together. Jengar worked hard for his position as a higher-up (is trusted with leading the lords to the tithing ceremony at times, and has the lower guards saddle his ride for him) so he's been a guard longer than Rian & Gurjin, which he would've been working as a guard for around 5-10 years. I also imagine that he's a few years older than the two.
Now, they wouldn't have much time to sit around and chat, other than on their break, but even then Jengar would prefer to sit back and admire him. They would slowly start to become friends, and actually have a lot of chemistry with each other. I could see a moment where it seems like Rian feels the same way, after Jengar picks Rian up so they can glide somewhere (with the idea that Rian is still hiding his wings and/or they're still small and torn up) which makes the two of them quite flustered.
Confession/final thoughts....
I feel like when Jengar finally gets the confidence to confess his feelings, Rian would tell him that him and Gurjin have started dating, and he's talking about it so happily that Jengar-at first-wouldn't want to ruin the moment... until he takes a moment to think: "what a minute... Gurjin.. you mean my cousin?" Obviously, he's jealous by Rian just da5ing anyone other than him, but it's even worse that it's Gurjin-one of the relatives he hates the most, literally like the whole reason he vowed to work for everything and to not be "privileged" like Gurjin was. (He wasn't, btw.... people just like Gurjin more)
This would be the last straw for him, and the angry thoughts would get too much for him and he'd either start ignoring Rian, slowly breaking away from him, OR; he'd immediately lash out, cursing him for seemingly no reason, blaming him for not "falling for me first!" and "not appreciating" all the things he's done for him.
ENDINGS:
(Canon-compliant) Overall, he'd hate Rian so much that he would be on the skeksis' side that he would plot to turn Rian in, lying to him and telling him he's on his side and saying he believes him, only to turn him in to the skeksis. (For convenience reasons, instead of being immediately drained, he would be put in the cell for a night or so before being drained-maybe to get him to confess if he had told anyone about Mira's death, which they're just BFFs in this AU.) Gurjin would hear about this (maybe from Jengar himself) and go down in the middle of the night to bust him out, not caring if he's even right or not.
(Non-canon compliant) If Rian and Gurjin were to have a baby.... oh my god. He'd hate that baby so damn much, because it resembles the love that the two have together-something he'll never get because he's so resentful. This would either make him quit being a castle guard, or work even harder to get promoted. If he worked hard enough to get into a captain position, he'd fire the two.. immediately. Or just Rian, and Gurjin would be so mad, he'd quit too.
They would obviously get other jobs, but what? I don't know. Rian might take to training any gelflings how to use a sword, or even just a job teaching childlings. I could see Gurjin either becoming a cook, or rejoining his clan's guard. (Whichever path he chose, Gurjin would still be the one who cooks! He can make a mean stew... whether ot not his kids actuslly like it is up for debate)

I like to think Rian has a lot of guilt over what happened to Gurjin at the castle and blames himself. It’s a shame the difference in Gurjin’s appearance wasn’t very noticeable in the show, because in the books it makes it seem like a pretty dramatic change… I think Rian would be a bit horrified seeing him again for the first time.
