not a single new yorker will ever forget this day, 2001. my spirit still cries in grief from all those we lost that day. it's uncanny how each calendar year the memories and feelings of 9/11 rush back into my heart. 💔 but for me, this anniversary is also a perfect reminder of how K. Pattabhi Jois showed not just a whole city but the whole world what it really means to be a Guru. his unwavering strength and compassion in the midst of the worst imaginable chaos will always be my deepest inspiration. yoga saved my life that day, and every day afterward. . . #neverforget #16years #gurujiliveshere (at Puck Building)

this is not the greatest photo but it is a great memory: circa 1999, post-practice at the end of my first trip to #mysore. it was one of the deepest, most life informing, life changing of times. happy 102nd birthday Guruji and happy Guru Purnima to all my teachers, in all forms. to teach well one must first learn well, and i am fortunate to keep learning from the very best. there is so much more out there to study and experience. a life of yoga is unlimited in its possibilities.
