absolutely love how early on in the Oregon Parks promo campaign everyone was under the tweets being like "alex what is this" "alex we know it's you" "what are you plotting alex" and now everyone is screaming and crying in the replies for Park Ranger Gus Burnside and asking if he's okay

he got the fandom invested in his twitter roleplay character in the span of ~a week. i'm afraid there's nobody doing it like him— anyone who thinks they can pull off a Gravity Falls revival hoax/troll/etc should quit while they're ahead, truly

The O'Pimm's ad was an homage to our beloved Ranger Gus Burnside, who had one of these vintage bottles of Jim Beam in one of his videos. The image itself is also based on a vintage Jim Beam ad:

This was like, the first thing I did for the zine. I knew I'd be doing at least one piece, so I dove right in and knocked this out ASAP, which was very smart of me, if I'm being honest. Good job, past me. There are a few easter eggs in there. Also some details that are probably tricky to see, even in the printed version, are the Bill-like slit eyes on the owl, and blood on the talons.

The Ford ad was a late addition of mine that I had to do to fill a spot by someone who left the project. I'd seen this ad on Pinterest in the planning stages:

I thought it was very silly and could be turned into a very suggestive ad as, like, the only allusion to Ford in the whole zine. It was inspired by some of the very fun graphic ads from the 70s that I found, though not quite as psychedelic as some of those were.

Details for this one include using Ford's code for the lettering on the grille, and playing with the model name E100, or ELOO, aka Bill. I also included an enlarged version of the code on the page to make it easier for folks to decode if they'd like. I'd started to sketch a Stan piece at one point to fill another blank, but with all the other work I needed to do, and how rusty I am with drawing people, I opted not to include it. I still like the idea, and maaaybe I'll finish it one day. ALAS. More HDC related posts to come!
