4.427
Today have been published the names of the 4.427 spanish people that died in the Mauthausen-Gusen concentration camps between 1940 and 1945.
More than 70 years later these names have been published. Not because the government didn’t had it, but because they were hidden on purpose.
Most of these people were republicans that crossed the border to France to fight in the french resistance and some women and children came from concentration camps of the south of France too.
As the magistrate of this case, Amalia Basanta, says: “The deaths of these people were never registered in the Civil Registry. This is a way of giving their dignity back”
