Hi guys. I watched the episodesssssssssss. I’m. Very deeply normal and okay about Deirta having typhros, Essek’s relationship with her, and also Molly having to kill Gustav. Sooooooo normal and okay.

The mighty nein rewatch.

Mollymauk appreciation! The charming blood hunter tiefing with a mysterious and scary past he can’t quite remember, turned carnival worker. After a tragedy at the carnival devastated him, he joined a temporary team that turned into a more long lasting one.

Oh look, another non-human character dealing with aspects of darkness in some form or another. I did like him before but the rewatch solidified him as another favorite and helped me get his accent down a lot better as i write him in stories. I have heard about the critical role dnd game version but I think I would still like this version of him the most of the two.

Gustav giving Molly a kiss on the forehead even though he obviously has to go up on his tiptoes to do it is killing me, btw. I hope that they keep Molly's thing of giving people forehead-kisses, I hope this is a setup for that, because it's the only thing at this point that could make me cry harder.

I love how Molly eased into the group after a bit of tension in the beginning. He's not an idiot, and while his memory might not be the best, he's smart enough to recognize that the Carnival Massacre is a tragic event but not a deliberate one. It was a series of unfortunate events, events that caused death and devastation, which is why they went out to try and fix it, Molly included.

It might actually be a trauma response. Kind of like how Caleb's codependency on Nott graduates to codependency on the group (and in particular, Beau) in the campaign. He needs to feel like part of a group. It's literally the only way he's ever existed, so it makes sense that he immediately moves on to a new group of people he can (hopefully) rely on.

That, and I think Molly recognizes that he won't get any answers by staying put with the carnival. Molly in the campaign claimed he didn't want to know his past, and it might be the same with this Molly, but I actually suspect the opposite. I think he wants to know who he is and why he is. I think he wants to understand these mysterious powers, especially since not doing so would waste what Gustav's death (and maybe even his life) clearly means to him. He has to learn how to stand on his own two feet, because Gustav's legacy would mean nothing otherwise.
