Lore question time, for you. Have your character/alt killed someone or something? How was their reaction at their first? How are they handling violence now?

2. Who is your commander closest to now?

Caithe! But it took a lot of time, work, and co-parenting chaos to get to where they are as friends. Caithe could single-handedly destroy Wysma's badass reputation with stories of all the dumb shit he did trying to make Aurene happy.

I go into more detail here, but in essence, after all the drama with the egg incident, they began seeing each other’s earnest vulnerabilities through their interactions with their new ward. Both were totally out of their element with Aurene (Caithe doesn’t meet many infants, and Wysma had a somewhat detached parental figure) so there was a lot of bumbling, arguments, and eventually camaraderie while they worked out their dynamic with Aurene and each other.

Currently, Wysma and Caithe feel the most at ease with each other; to one another, they are less leaders and more people, parents who loved and lost and are still trying to do the right thing.

5. Which death caused your commander the most grief?

Blish, for a good long while.

Wysma has seen the deaths of many allies: Trahearne, Eir, Almorra, Tonn, Forgal. They were, at their core, soldiers, sworn to their duties with their lives. It was a pact they’d made, and Wysma knew that, for all the lost potential and lost lives, they would have given it up all over again for Tyria, everything and everyone they loved. Wysma himself would have done the same.

But Blish was different. He was never a soldier, not even a fighter. To Wysma, Blish and Gorrik were just regular kids they picked up because they had nowhere else to go. They were exactly the kind of people Wysma fought to protect, but then Blish chose to sacrifice himself for him.

He’s supposed to be better than this. He’s supposed to be the strong one. But he couldn’t even protect Blish. The worst part is that he had to directly face the consequences of his failure: Gorrik, left without a brother.

Like everything else, though, time heals wounds, and Wysma honours Blish’s memory by looking after Gorrik in his stead.

18. How does your commander handle stress?

That stoic face he has 90% of the time? That's his stress response. It’s like Schrodinger’s emotions where maybe if he doesn’t acknowledge the stress, the stress will go away. He busies himself with anything he can to take his mind off himself.

Wysma is generally just not great at handling or addressing vulnerability, especially when it’s his own. Ironically, Dragon’s Watch knows when he goes rigid like that, he’s under some serious pressure. A relaxed Wysma is a gentler and goofier Wysma.

He’s very aware of his coping mechanism and how unhealthy it is, but is still having some trouble dropping the idea of ‘needing to be strong’ all the time.

Is Libitira aurene’s champion? I always thought that was Indu

She is! Libi was Aurene’s champion before Indu was even born. In relation to the other dragons, Indu is technically Mordremoth’s scion because she inherited the most of his power (but chooses not to use it unless in dire situations) but the term most people call her is “The Revolutionary,” since she actively defies the other dragons and their champions.

11.) How do they see themselves: as smart, as intelligent, uneducated?

- Diarmuid believes he’s witty and clever. Definitely educated. He doesn’t think he’s poetic...until he opens his mouth at his wife!

25.) What are their hobbies and interests?

- Hobbies include: sewing/knitting (he can gush about beautiful clothes all day), gardening, reading (reading poems hurhurhur), and kissing his wifey.

26.) What does your character’s home look like? Personal taste? Clothing? Hair? Appearance?

- He doesn’t have a home of his own so he lives with Finlaithe, his beloved. She has a beautiful garden that he tends to and always greets her with something cute, whether it’s something he cooked, a new outfit, or flowers everywhere.- His clothing/hair/appearance is kinda hard to work with it due to his Mordrem transformation, but he’s found a mender that can soften his thorns and bark for at least a little bit!!

28.) Who is your character’s mate? How do they relate to him or her? How did they make their choice?

- GIRL WHY ARE YOU ASKING YOU KNOW THE ANSWER. The love of his life is Finlaithe. He met her in the Heart of the Maguuma where she put her faith and trust in him despite his mordrem-like appearance. They hit it off since then.

32.) How does your character react to stress situations? Defensively? Aggressively? Evasively?

- Depends on the stress. He tries to act evasively AND defensively. It’s rare he’ll become aggressive.

37.) How is your character’s imagination? Daydreaming a lot? Worried most of the time? Living in memories?

- He’s a very poetic and romantic soul, so his imagination is verrry healthy and thrives like a weed. :)

48.) How are your character’s gestures? Vigorous? Weak? Controlled? Compulsive? Energetic? Sluggish?

- His gestures are fluid and flowing despite his appearance. I don’t consider him energetic but...maybe wistful?

Calico: “Taking some time to myself and gardening has always been able to set my mind at ease. Especially on a warm day like this one. *chuckles* Though, I notice that the hard work makes my ears get kinda floppy!”

3. Who was your commander closest to prior?

Before Caithe, Wysma was closer to different people at different stages, but it generally boils down to Taimi (and before her, Zojja).

Taimi's idle chatter used to be Wysma’s one constant. Since EoD, they've grown apart as Taimi busies herself with Xunlai, and nowadays he misses the noise. Wysma used to humour her and Gorrik the most and was a bit more stern with her before she graduated from College.

Taimi has always endeared herself to him, but when he was feeling extra isolated back in LS3, Taimi sticking around (and jumping down a volcano for him) solidified her place in his heart. Wysma even considered taking over guardianship of Taimi on Zojja’s behalf, but he backed down upon Taimi’s insistence on independence. Since the Phlunt incident, he did give her permission to use his name as a political shield when she was still in school, though she rarely did, being plenty competent and prideful on her own.

She’s also overheard so much bullshit over the comms that the only reason she hasn’t attempted blackmail is because she’s already circulated any and all embarrassing clips of Wysma around the guild.

Zojja is a special case. She’s known Wysma way before he was Commander, to when he was still an awkward and unnoticeable kid shuffling behind the coattails of his professor. She had been a legend to him first, then a mentor, then a friend- somebody who actually knew Wysma first, Commander second.

In another life, had Wysma found her earlier after HoT, they might have been inseparable. But that time has passed, and now all Wysma can do is support her through her new life with the Astral Ward.
