Do you ever go to the Starbucks at GW Hospital? Well stop. Bravely march past the overcrowded poorly staffed Starbs and head straight back to the hospital cafeteria. Coffees ranging from 12 to 20oz, easily customizable with iced, hot, regular, decaf, and an assortment of creamers. Largest size is only $1.37!!! Small coffee only $1.14! Plus- take it black from the hospital and bring it right over to that sad Starbucks for all the fix-ins. I’m a huge caffeine fanatic so this saved me TONS of money when I didn’t have time to make coffee at home.

WELCOME to GW Eats!! The official blog for surviving the amazing, generous dining plan provided by the prestigious George Washington University.

HAHA.

Honestly, GW’s dining plan is sad. GW’s campus boasts an astounding 50% food insecurity rate among on-campus students. When your dining hall is Whole Foods and pizza is, well, &pizza, good luck affording a meal without running out of GWorld before Thanksgiving (if you’re lucky). Most students I know run out by midterms. And then what? Sorry, but not everyone can Venmo request daddy for Uber Eats money to order Surf Side every other day. 

Well, you’re in luck. I’ve successfully made it through each semester in my four years (well, three and a half) consistently with over $200 (!!!!) left on my GWorld. Not to toot my own horn, but I had over $600 at the end of my first semester freshman year. 

So now, as I bid GW goodbye, I decided it’s my responsibility to share what I’ve learned over the years about saving money without resorting to “Stole Foods” or scrounging he dumpsters outside Deli for a scrap of a bacon, egg, and cheese. 

Raise High! Screw this school.
