Golden Week of Our Own
Golden Week in Japan is a week that contains multiple holidays and falls during beautiful weather (April 29 to May 5). If you are in the Northern Hemisphere, all the solstice holidays and New Year are during pretty crap weather (and the whole thing is exhausting and honestly, full of people you’d rather not see).
I would like to humbly propose a new and truly joyful period of festivities: October 19 - Calypso’s Birthday (OFMD) October 21 - Earth’s Birthday (GO) October 31 - Halloween-Sawain-Creepy Paper Day (WWDITS, dressing up, mispronouncing words, setting things on fire)
Please attend: our holiday celebrates birth and death, water, earth, fire, and probably wind. And there are the days between Oct 21 and Oct 31, which you can fill with your own Hanukkah-ish blend of candle-lighting, binge-watching, and pre-gaming all the Halloween candy before those meddling kids get it.
I’m thinking GWOOO (golden week of our own?) Or choose the name that works for you.
Thank you for coming to my gwooo talk. God speed to us all and good gwooo-ensday to the world.
