I Fucked Up

A brief PSA that I’m tagging for any old followers who are wondering what happened to my old account -- I accidentally deleted the account (gwpe.tumblr.com) earlier this evening :( I’m still waiting on tumblr staff to reply to my email about whether it’s possible to recover anything. In the meantime, I’m recreating my blog over here.

Right? I feel like there was a period of time right after DA:O on dA where a bunch of sane fanartists found each other, largely through roo’s comic and other fanart, and we all played around happily for a while. And then it all went to shit.

fucking Christ, what now? People are such shit.

They dared to express that they prefer Solas the way he is over concept art Solas. And then because of a mixture of clumsy wording, language barriers, and people just straight up looking for a fight (the way they always do), it got interpreted in SJW brains as "PASTY WHITE AND BALD IS WAY BETTER THAN BROWN AND DREADLOCKS", when all they meant was "I prefer this cause this is the appearance that was presented to me in-game and what I've gotten used to him looking like when I got to know the character". Bring on the storm of people calling them a racist over something that pretty much only exists in the heads of the people doing the bullying.

I read the original ask that got the artist into this shit... literally anyone who's not actively looking for someone to jump at would be able to understand what they meant, despite the somewhat clumsy wording due to English not being their native language. On top of this a very very popular blog was at least one of the people getting involved in this. And yeah, with great amounts of followers, comes great responsibility. It may not have been that particular blogger who did the bullying or sent the hate but (unless they are a lot stupider than I've previously given them credit for) THEY SHOULD BE ABLE TO FIGURE OUT THAT REBLOGGING IT WOULD HAVE THIS OUTCOME CAUSE THAT'S HOW TUMBLR WORKS. It's not a punishment that fits the perceived crime.

Hopefully they'll one day feel like the fandom deserves their art again, cause it really was fantastic.
