(tbh I’d be totally up for an “interlude” game that wraps up a few loose ends, has no reoccurring characters, shows us a complete new side of Thedas - since all of it will be affected by Solas effery - and just gives the effects from Inquisition some time to settle in away from the player. DAI gave us too much control, they’ll never find a way to satisfy the majority if that continues. Too many far reaching player actions to account for.)

Yes! And it’s probably not unlikely with that Fallen London writer. I’d really like to see that. (And I’d really like to not see the “morally grey” side of slavery, which is why a Tevinter setting worries me so.) 

And you’re right - the fact alone how different the relationships can play out makes it basically impossible to carry over anything from Inquisition in a meaningful way for now. Having NPCs in Awakening ask the Queen of Ferelden to do some smuggling for them annoyed me but I could live with it - because it was just an expansion. I mean, I read that Dorian shows up in Trespasser even if you didn’t recruit him in Inquisition. That’s not so great. But for an entirely new game that sort of stuff would be terrible.

I assumed they were drawings of prisoners? The prison is kind of demon powered and I am not sure if one could summon powerful demons without any sacrifices. Summoning needs mages, dwarves are not mages. A collaboration of tevinter mages and dwarves to build the prison is not unlikely since Dwarves and Tevinter have history (also: location of the prison itself). Elves apparently make splendid sacrifices - > sad elven prisoner doodles.

That’s not an unreasonable assumption, I think. I mean, I’m not sure they’re just doodles, seeing how they’re found at other places - but that might just be another instance of limited deco items.

According to World of Thedas Vol.2, the prison in the Vinmark Mountains was built by the Grey Wardens and made into a trap by Senior Warden Sashamiri and their apprentices on orders of Warden-Commander Farele. Without knowing those specifics, that's what I took from Legacy, as well. So a collaboration between Dwarves and the Grey Wardens seems more likely. And, no matter how the Grey Wardens were depicted in Inquisition, I’d hope they didn’t use slaves.

But, you know. Maybe they did. Or someone else used that prison in the meantime. It’s a pretty large place. Or people from Tevinter, in search of Dumat’s high priest, were there and brought people to sacrifice? (I think I remember why I never really wondered about it. It’s unlikely there’s an answer.)

Yeah, well, she shall know the peas of the Maker’s benediction, after all. So she needs to be tall and open-mouthed, I guess.

(So in DAO there’s this dialogue where Alistair says “It’s all very intricate...” in a somewhat fascinated voice. I have this in my head all the time while at Halamshiral, but with “orlesian”. It’s all very orlesian...)

I mean, yeah, they probably threw different aspects of stylishness together. And it worked! But those wings... I don’t know. To me, they seem to say “angel” rather than “spirit/demon/random creature” and I find it somewhat weird for the setting. Maybe it’s just the time of the year or something.

Maybe it’s all underground close to the surface. Or maybe something happened to the area, like it’s TOO blighted/dead?

I like that! It would be like defeating Blight with Blight. (Although it probably really doesn’t mean anything, sadly.)

Dorian’s quest-Venatori are supposed to drop the tomes, too, as are randomly spawning Venatori in the Hinterlands. I also read that they are randomly sold by Griffon Wing Keep merchant in the Western Approach if The Short List perk was acquired.

I had high hopes for those venatori in the Hinterlands, but they refused to be helpful. I did not know about the merchant. Thank you!

if you’re looking for venatori tomes they are in the exalted plains - one down past the dalish, one in ghilan'nain’s grove and then one on the river bed, sadly not all venatori drop them and well if these don’t then…. you probably have a glitch…..

Thank you, that’s helpful. My problem is that I visit the different areas in a very strict order. Right now I have to go to the Western Approach / Adamant before I can go to the Exalted Plains. I would love to have the specialisation before entering the Fade, but if the venatori in the Forbidden Oasis / Western Approach refuse to drop tomes, I’m out of luck. 

But I’ll keep in mind who the guaranteed targets are. And I’ll whine less about it.

It’s an undead. Although in that temple it wouldn’t be that unusual for a companion to step into something that sets them aflame and/or throws them into the air. I probably would have tagged it, had that been the case. I probably should have, anyway.

(Solas telling a mage in Haven that his skills are less flashy than the standard starting spells is actually what makes me use them the entire game. It’s what I do. And they are pretty. And forceful.)
