“Why the fuck did we leave these up here until May again?” Sydney asked as she took over for Chains in taking down a long string of Christmas lights. “Jesus christ...”
“I woke up in the middle of the night without any blankets and your foot digging into my spine.”
Houston rubbed the back of his neck in embarrassment while he was caught mid yawn. “Sorry about that,man. It’s those fuckin’ dreams again..”
He had not been sleeping well as of late.
“Do you think they’ll be serving alcohol now?”
He thought for a moment on what time it was, not bothering to check his watch. “I think they should, it’s only a few minutes early..”
Houston snapped his fingers. “Don’t I owe you a drink from last job anyway?”
He had bet Bodhi couldn’t take down a larger than normal Dozer, but Chains had said he could.
"Suprise bitch! Bet you thought you'd seen the last of me."
Houston just about jumped out of his skin.
When they’d left Chains behind at the scene, he had protested, Jiro and Dragan both having to pull him in the van to keep him from running back for him.
They had to get the cargo to safety. Hang the cargo, in Houston’s opinion. He’d spent the next five hours in the safehouse garage fidgeting with his wrenches worried about his friend- hell, his brother.
When he turned around to see who’d surprised him, however? He immediately hugged the guy. “Oh my god, you’re ok! Fuck, I’m so sorry we had to do that, man..”
"We all know how the night will end."
Chains was right.
The one thing today in between continuing to be in the safehouse was what seemed to be a crack squad assembled by the Department of Homeland Security - ZEALs, as they were called.
The assault on the safehouse would likely end up with heavy casualties - if not on the side of the police, it would be on the gang’s side.
Sydney nodded in response, looking out the garage as she began assembling doctor bags for the attack.
“It’s them or us... one side’s gonna have to give.”

They had just dealt with yet another safehouse raid, and apparently Houston was destined to get into a brawl with the lingering Cloaker.
As he was doing a scan of the garage for stragglers, he turned when he heard the scuffle of someone scrambling out from under the van, only to be met with a foot to the side of the head.
He instinctively shot the man, but not without suffering the after effects.
As he shakily got to his feet, he kept his hands on either side of his head, trying to stop both the ringing and the spinning.
When he opened his eyes for a moment, he saw someone standing there, but he had to squeeze his eyes back shut again.
"Do you spice?"
“Are we talking synthetic marijuana or cooking?..” Houston chuckled, shaking his head. “If it’s the former, no. but the latter?.. Man, If I ever cook something, It’s as bland as I am, let’s be honest.”
