in the vein of mildly ridiculous gym asks, do you wash gym clothes after each visit to the gym or do you have a method for storing only sort of contaminated gym wear?
I sweat like crazy so I have to wash them right after 😅 but I'm also doing a lot per session these days since I've folded my split into 3x full body with cardio/core/etc in between. I do hot yoga, I love my gym's sauna, and I run for cardio so the only day I think I'm not sweating is core.
That being said, if you need to reuse gym clothes, there is a tried and true method:
1) never put it in a hamper or enclosed space, you need to air that shit out immediately - if you have a fan, window, or vent blowing air, hang it up nearby.
2) if you have time, put the clothing through a quick dry cycle in your dryer (5-10 minutes) since that can kill a ton of the smell/grossness
3) know when the sniff test has failed. If you sniff the clothes before putting them on and they in any way smell funky to you, they're going to smell way worse to others. And it's not something you can generally overcome with deodorant because it's not just perspiration, it's bacteria from old perspiration.
It's especially important to follow step #3 because if you have any sort of acne prone skin on your back, putting those clothes on can make you break out again. If you absolutely have to do it, try spraying yourself (and your back obviously) in hypochlorous acid spray. I keep a bottle in my gym bag and spray my face after the sauna, etc.
