IT’S SORTA EMBARRASSING to be crying one’s eyes out at one’s own housewarming party. Especially ‘cause Aera’s been moved in for, like, a super long time now and she just now got the motivation to unpack and throw one. What’s even more embarrassing is the reason she’s crying. Because turns out, of all people, she has to apologize to— gag — Gyumin. Of all people. Seriously? That’s just a cruel twist of fate.

Honestly, though, Aera’s seriously had enough, and she ends up herding everyone out. After giving Areum and Hamin long hugs, the party is over, and Aera leans against the door, eyes red and puffy. 

One half of her is satisfied... yelling at Gyumin is something she’s always wanted to do (and, frankly, often does), but the other half is guilty. Because she knows that Gyumin didn’t deserve it. Hell, even if he did break that vase, it’s not like it held any sentimental value to her. She got it at the dollar store. And also, her stress has been building up for a long time now. She knows that she was just taking it out on him.

Aera groans. She knows what she has to do, and, like the Star Wars fan she is, she doesn’t know if she has the strength to do it. But Jeon Aera, if she’s living on her own, will be an adult about this, even if it kills her. Which it might. She fires off a text.

It wasn’t uncommon for Geonwoo to find people from Busan living in Seoul. The two of them were big cities, but there was no question that Seoul was the entertainment hub between the two-- if anyone wanted to achieve true stardom in the entertainment industry, moving to Seoul was a requirement. What was uncommon was for Geonwoo to see people he knew from Busan here in Seoul. So when the debut lineup for Summit Media’s new boy group had been announced, a familiar face had made him do a double take. Particularly, the familiar face of a former schoolmate.

Gyumin and him hadn’t necessarily gotten along much in school, but that wasn’t much of a surprise. Geonwoo wasn’t under any illusions-- he was well aware that he hadn’t been the most friendly kid at his school, angry and filled with an attitude. Him and Gyumin hadn’t interacted much, but Geonwoo was certain that the vast majority of people he had been at school with knew of him for all the wrong reasons. The poor, angry, motherless kid that helped at his family’s pork soup restaurant who was always arguing and talking back. He’d been trying to leave that image behind, make a new start here in Seoul, but the sight of his old classmate brought back a whole host of memories that Geonwoo would have rather left behind.

One could probably imagine his surprise, then, when Geonwoo saw that familiar place waiting on the same subway platform as him. Even with a hat and mask on, Geonwoo knew it was Gyumin. What the soon-to-debut trainee was doing waiting for a subway train late at night, Geonwoo wasn’t sure, but Gyumin was standing just a few feet away from him, and Geonwoo knew he might as well take the chance that was ahead of him.

He took a few steps closer to Gyumin, trying to get a closer look at his face to confirm that it was him. Once he was as sure at he could get, Geonwoo bit the bullet, tapping on the other’s shoulder. “Gyumin, right?” he asked, just to make it absolute certain that he wasn’t seeing things at the late hour. “Han Gyumin? From Busan? Haeundae?”

Although it was early in the day, he felt it would be wise to make the most of it despite how venturing out later may have provided less necessity to take precautions. One idol by themselves was room enough to cause people to possible spot them, but two idols? That was almost like asking for eyes on them, yet Kiwon had done his best to keep warm and hide his face, mask on and sunglasses donned as he observed the fantastical shopfront displays that lined the street.

Reaching up to run a hand through his hand, the leader smiled behind the black mask, nodding slowly as he glanced to his companion.

“Every year it’s like the displays get bigger and more complex,” he commented, gesturing towards an animatronic penguin that waved when people walked by. “I don’t remember this one from last year.”

An awkward pause as he took a moment to consider...

“I think I came last year. I try to go every winter.”

what is your favorite article of clothing?

“i have a tie-dye t-shirt in really nice shades of green and blue. it says counselor on the back and it has a little black bonfire outline on the left chest. i can only assume that it’s from a summer camp --- i picked it up at a thrift store.”

If there was one clothing brand you could work with, who would it be and why?

“maybe charm’s? there’s no particular reason. i’m not that big on fashion, so it would be difficult for me to come up with anything that... makes sense. i just think it’s a nice brand.”

what’s your favorite seasonal activity?

“skiing. i’ve only gone a few times, so i’m still pretty terrible at it... but that makes it more fun. i’m excited to go again this winter, if i can.”

how well do you deal with crowds and attention on you?

“i don’t mind it if i’m performing. i’m typically a very nervous person, but something about performing takes that away, even if it is only for a short while. but say that i’m just trying to go shopping... i’d much rather avoid crowds and any unnecessary attention. there’s a difference between eden and hyun iseul --- eden could remain calm while being watched by the whole world. hyun iseul can hardly handle being looked at for more than a few seconds.”

what is your favorite article of clothing?

“i have one of those black vans hoodies; you know, the ones you see everywhere. it’s not from a special collaboration line or anything. not limited edition. but it was a gift from one of my best friends, so it has a lot of sentimental value. plus, it’s just super comfy.”
