I know we say it all the time bc they're the most prominent and recent example, but Tom and Zendaya ALSO said they were just friends for a long time even when their relationship had shifted. Also, pedantic but H and C haven't said anything alluding to being platonic in a long time, since December at least. And even then it wasn't "we're just friends" it was "why can't men be close without assuming they're fucking?" Which is a fair and excellent question! But neither of them have flat-out denied they could be together at any point. "He's my best friend" doesn't exclude the idea they might be more, too, or that the possibility is there. I mean how many people say "I married my best friend"?? I certainly did. I personally fall in the "they're insanely attracted to each other and very in love with each other but shit's complicated bc of the show and fame and their careers and homophobia in Hollywood so I think they're waiting" bc nothing messes with onscreen chemistry like your leads having sex offscreen and costars dating is VERY messy. But them calling each other their best friend has never seemed like a stumbling block for me for them to get together romantically.
anon im going to kiss your brain !! absolutely hit the nail on the head w this one, and it's bothered me for a hot minute.
these boys have spoken so openly about their love, their bond, their chemistry, their connection, their matches enthusiasm, how special they are too each other. but they've never explicitly said "we're not dating, we're just buds". and this doesnt go to say that all celebs need to explicitly say that there's nothing going on with their costars, but when the two of them present themselves to the public the way that they do, you'd think they'd want to set the record straight, no?
especially in a time where they are needing to flesh out their brands and establish themselves in the industry and to the people. if they didn't want people thinking this, they'd say it outright. they arent idiots, these boys are incredibly intelligent, they understand how image works and what gets through to people.
ppl need to also remember that hudson and connor are both gen z. they grew up on the internet and they grew up on the other side of where they are now. this side, This very side that We are on rn. they understand how the public forms opinions bc not long ago, They Were the public! back in highschool, they were probably keeping up w alllll the pop culture and drama! hudson didnt mention the olsen twins bc he saw some tiktok, he knows exactly wtf he's talking abt! they know how this works! they know what they're doing, and ppl are just too quick to take everything at face value without even questioning it.
apologies for the yap, but i loved this sm thank u anon for sharing ur thoughts!
