Oh yeah, there have been laws that have been similar to this one in the past. But people took it less seriously back then, so they were not passed! Which is awful! I am glad bills like this are gonna get passed!
Now, these are the laws WE NEED! Online predators need to be charged with their crimes! Victims of these crimes deserve justice!
What is H.R.6719?
This bill establishes new federal criminal offenses for threatening to distribute a visual depiction of a minor (or person believed to be a minor) engaging in sexually explicit conduct with the intent that the minor (or person believed to be a minor) create or transmit a visual depiction of sexually explicit conduct. The bill also prohibits attempts and conspiracies to commit the offenses.
(I think this will pair nicely along with the DEFIANCE Act. Many predators are also creating CSAM and CP with unregulated AI imaging, which is disgusting! I hope these laws will help combat these issues!)
