Yeon's Coffee and Tea Hearts2Hearts Carmen x Male Reader
“Uh huh, so this is the place Jiwoo-unnie told me…” Yeon said, a big door in front of her. In the middle of the door, a text read training room. The sign wasn’t all formal, in fact, it was just a piece of cardboard and black marker text. The place was in a good spot, it was behind a cafe, yet it all feels sketchy and improvised.
A few days ago, Yeon was invited by Jiwoo to come and dance with them, a part of a dance group.
Yeon knocked three times, a cute yellow ribbon tied around the door knob for God knows why. After waiting for a few more seconds, the door opened, revealing one of the members.
“Hello! You must be the girl Jiwoo-unnie was talking about!” Another girl said with glee as she offered her hand, Yeon accepted the handshake.
“Oh, uh… Sorry! My name is Ian. You must be Yeon, right?” Ian asked as Yeon nodded.
“Great! Some of the members are here too. Come in…” Ian offered as Yeon followed suit.
Yeon entered and saw a very spacious room, you’d think it would have been used as extra room for the cafe but no. At the side of the room was a table and eight seats. There was plenty of food and besides Yeon and Ian, there were two more girls.
“Well, since Jiwoo-unnie told someone was coming, we thought we’d have a small welcome party. Also, there’s Ana-unnie and Juun-unnie over there.” Ian said as she pointed to the two girls, the two girls waved back at them as Yeon bowed.
Yeon sat down as the four girls talked about the dance group. Truth be told, their dance group isn’t that big or anything, but they have a solid local fanbase still. As for Yeon, she only really knew Jiwoo as they were from the same neighborhood. The dance group is made up of both college and high school students, 7 students in fact. Jiwoo, Carmen, Yuha and Stella complete the members not present in the discussion of the 4 girls.
As the discussion continued on, Yeon made an astute observation, “Can I ask something?” The older girls nodded.
“Why are there eight seats here if there are only seven of you?”
“Well, we have an eighth member, a behind-the-scenes member, if you will.” Juun stated as the doors opened again.
“Why would you do that?!” Carmen shouted as a boy followed behind him.
“He was clearly hitting on you, Carmen.” The boy said in response.
“So what, Y/n?” Carmen asked, looking back at the boy.
“Well, he isn’t good looking. You deserve better. Maybe someone like me.” A smug face seen on Y/n. Yeon gasped, the other three just shrugged it off. It was as if she was viewing a romcom.
“You’re so RUDE!” Carmen said as she sat down, Y/n sitting beside her.
“Hey, if I was that rude, you guys wouldn’t have a place to stay.” Again, another provocative statement, it already felt like Yeon was also getting irritated with the young man.
Ian noticed Yeon’s annoyance, “Don’t, they’re always like that. And well, Y/n is also always like that.”
“Hey, hey… look at me.” Y/n said as Carmen ignored him and started eating the food that was prepared.
Yeon noticed that Y/n was starting to pout, a taste of his own medicine.
“A shame, I was thinking of giving free coffee today.” Y/n sighed as Carmen shifted moods and looked at him.
“Deal.” Carmen said as she stood up and dragged Y/n out of the room with the boy smiling, defeated. Again leaving the original four alone.
“So… Now I have more questions.” Yeon told the three as they all chuckled.
“Ask away.” Ana said.
“First, what did Y/n-oppa say about you guys not having a place to stay?”
“Well, this cafe is actually owned by his family. Y/n-oppa and Jiwoo-unnie are childhood friends and Y/n-oppa’s family has always been supportive of us.” Ana answered.
“Second, is Y/n–oppa the one you guys said that works behind-the-scenes?”
“Yeah, he’s the one that often handles the documentation and all. Also helps us with our social media pages, I guess that’s the benefits of being chronically online.” Juun responded.
Yeon nodded, “And lastly… What are they? Y/n-oppa and Carmen-unnie?” She asked.
“Friends?” The three older girls shrugged their shoulders.
“Lovers?” Another one with the same answer.
“Dating?” Again, silence.
“To be honest with you, we also don’t know what’s going on with Y/n-oppa and Carmen-unnie.” Juun spoke out.
“We think they like each other-” Ana continued.
“But, maybe the two are just in denial. Puppy love yet they’re also the two oldest people here.” Ian laughed.
“Did you guys ask them about it?” Yeon further interrogated, maybe a bit too good at gossip.
“Yeah, we tried, Y/n-oppa is the kind of person that would never give you a straight answer and Carmen-unnie just denies it outright.” Ana answered back, the other two girls sighing in defeat.
“To be fair, they look good together. And well, Y/n-oppa is just a very… Uh- how do you say this… very closed when it comes to his boundaries.” Juun said as Ian nodded.
“Yeah, while he’s very devious, he’s usually short-tempered to most people. It’s mostly Carmen-unnie and Jiwoo-unnie who he lets banter with him. Y/n-oppa teases people frequently, including us. But one true test to know if he’s alright with you is if he lets you tease him back. And for most of the time, only Carmen-unnie has that privilege. Hence, the idea of why we think they just like each other.” Ian theorized as the three others agreed.
After a few minutes, Y/n and Carmen went back to the room, hand-in-hand as Carmen held what seems to be a free drink from Y/n.
The two sat down quietly, as if nothing happened earlier. Ian gave Yeon the look, a look saying something along the lines of “See what we mean?” to which Yeon understood immediately.
Carmen and Y/n took their respective seats besides each other and carried on as usual as Y/n opened her phone.
A few seconds and glances later, Y/n looked at Yeon, “Pardon me for not noticing you earlier but I'm guessing you're the girl Jiwoo was talking about? I'm Y/n, I don't dance but I help a lot here. More than the other girls would like to admit as well. Always underappreciated, the unsung hero of the girls.” He introduced with a smirk on his face, making the girls roll their eyes.
“I’m Carmen! The oldest here, and not one to act like a main character that’s for sure.” Carmen intervened, a punch from Y/n’s dialogue.
“Might I remind you who bought the coffee you’re holding?” Y/n looked back at her.
“For all I know, it’s your parents paying for this as you always get free drinks.”
“Also, stop with YOU being the oldest, just a few months before me. That’s negligible.”
The six waited for the others to show up, some smalltalk here and there. After a few minutes, the eight girls were complete and tried to dance a few songs. By the end of that, the seven older girls agreed to Yeon joining the group. To be fair, it really wasn’t a formal joining of the group, it’s more just the girls wanting to see how Yeon dances. And so with Yeon joining, the family just got bigger.
~The next day~
It was another day of Yeon visiting the cafe. No dance routines or practice today. No, nothing of the like. It’s just that the cafe is en route to her home from school and she decided to take a visit.
She walked, no more knocking needed, she argued maybe no one was there. Gently opened the door, surprised to see two people, Y/n and Carmen.
One thing Yeon kept in mind, however, was Carmen was asleep, leaning her head on Y/n’s shoulder while Y/n was just scrolling on his phone with the unaffected arm. For Yeon, the sight was cute, serene.
Y/n gestured with his arm to be quiet as Yeon nodded. The younger girl sat down, also noticing that the eight seats from yesterday became nine. She sat at the seat across Y/n, a direct view of the pair.
Yeon brought out her lunch box, Y/n chuckled, “Didn’t eat lunch?” The boy asked, Yeon nodded.
“You and me both, though, ever since I went to college, I think I’ve only had 2 meals a day. So you should make do with your lunch.” Y/n advised as Yeon continued eating.
Y/n tried to shift his body a bit, only to be proven futile as Carmen’s grip got tighter, making the boy sigh in defeat as Carmen continued with her sleep.
Yeon chuckled, “Are you comfortable there, Y/n-oppa?”
“I- I’m getting by, though maybe me being stuck in this position for more than half an hour now isn’t helping. But it’s her, so maybe I wouldn’t complain that much.”
“Could I ask you something, Y/n-oppa?”
Y/n nodded, “Sure, go ahead. Unless, it’s your assignment.”
“Do you like Carmen-unnie?” The statement, while as loud as a soft whisper, has echoed even at the deepest crevices of Y/n’s head. Yeon’s right, what even are they?
“I- I hope you realize I’m dumb at these kinds of topics. I’ve liked girls before, don’t get me wrong. But, this time, I don’t know. You know what, I’ve also asked myself that question. Because, it all just started with her being close to me. Y’know, I never knew how to reciprocate the affection and care so I just do what people do to me. And when Carmen ended up being touchy and all, I reciprocated it.” Y/n explained, deflecting the question by a bit.
Y/n stayed silent, a moment to think and reflect, “And now, I’m scared… I don’t want to make a move if this all turns out to be her innate caring self. I don’t want this to end, and that I’m sure of.”
“Wait… You want to make a move?” Yeon gasped, making Y/n realize the words he just dropped.
“I can’t believe this, out of all the people I’d talk to about this, somehow the fifteen-year-old was the one that got me.” Y/n laughed.
“Mhhmf…” The sleeping beauty suddenly groaned, making Y/n instantly get nervous from the sudden movement as the young girl in front of them was enjoying the scene.
“Another question, what did you like about Carmen-unnie?”
“She’s sweet, caring. While not the one leading the group when it comes to them performing, being the oldest of the group also carries some unsaid weight. She glues the group together, she’s the one not wavering, a rock unmoved. That’s a heavy burden yet she makes it look so easy. And me? I just want to help her in any way I can. Unfortunately for her, the best way I can think of is the constant teasing and whatever background stuff I do.” Y/n explained, a smug look on her face.
“I think she appreciates your efforts, Y/n-oppa. Don’t worry about it…”
That day, Yeon knew more about Y/n and whatever his relationship was with Carmen. Usually in these kinds of groups, it would take a long time for the new guy to find out things the old members hold deep as secrets in their heart. But no matter if Y/n would blame the wind or his mouth that couldn’t shut up, Yeon knew what he felt.
Eventually Yeon and Y/n’s conversation had to shift topics with Carmen waking up but with Y/n’s new found realizations, maybe the course of the following days would change drastically.
~The next day~
As tomorrow came, the trio were again the only one at the training room but Yeon noticed Y/n’s antics as a bit different. The usually cool and smug Y/n got more easily flustered, easily nervous, and while it was way funny for Yeon, it was also a sign that Y/n can show his vulnerable side more easily now to Carmen. Carmen noticed it too, it wasn’t a change of heart, Y/n had always been sweet on the right circumstances though she noticed that the usually contrarian and argumentative Y/n was quieter, maybe even just Carmen finding Y/n staring at her at random times and they break the eye contact awkwardly.
“You’ve been acting a bit too different today, Y/n. Got a fever?” Carmen asked, putting her hand on Y/n’s forehead. Now, Y/n doesn’t have a fever but the way he’s beet red you’d guess he’s got a bad case of an illness.
“No… I- I’m just gonna buy us some snacks…” Y/n denied, both Yeon and Carmen’s eyes
“What do you guys want?” Y/n sheepishly asked as the two girls said their orders. The boy left, leaving Yeon and Carmen alone.
“Carmen-unnie, can I ask you something?” Yeon asked, a need to quench her thirst for gossip.
Carmen smiled, “Yeah, ask away.”
“Do you like Y/n-oppa?” A straightforward question needing a straightforward answer.
“Of course! The altercation me and him had when you first got here was just me trying to get him jealous. But his dense brain couldn’t comprehend it. Everything to him is a competition, everything to him is unserious. And maybe that’s why even us have it so hard understanding his true intentions. But for what it’s worth, he’s been different lately, maybe softening up. I mean, that’s what I like about him. He says he doesn’t care but he really does, and he cares so much even the smallest of details most of the time it’s only him that notices it. He’s a big tsundere.” Carmen laughed to which Yeon agreed at the last statement.
Carmen told more about how she and Y/n met. Though, after a few minutes the conversation was cut short by Y/n arriving with yet again the free food and drinks. In any case, Yeon already has the story confirmed. A big news scoop, well, only if Y/n and Carmen were K-pop idols and Yeon be Dispatch.
~The next day~
As Yeon was now excited to see what developments her favorite romcom would have today, and by romcom she meant Y/n and Carmen, she again decided to go to the training room. Quickly she became a familiar face to the ones manning the cafe as she greeted them with glee. She gently opened the door of the training room and…
There she saw Y/n and Carmen, lips almost touching, a bit too fast in her head. She couldn’t comprehend it immediately as she left there staring. The distance between the two got smaller and smaller until they realized who was staring at them.
“It’s not what you think!” Y/n and Carmen said in unison but Yeon has already made up her mind.
“I’m happy for you two. I’ll be eating outside.” She smiled and slowly closed the door pretending nothing happened.
And so ends the first few days of Yeon being the newest member of the dance group, and while there was little to no dancing at all, Yeon picked up a lot of coffee and… tea.
