will you ever continue your IVE fic on wattpad?
Short answer: no.
Long answer: I just don't have energy and motivation left to finish my unfinished books. The ideas I had in mind for them back then was exciting... Until they weren't for me. This has been a problem where I often lose interest in my own ideas. That's why, to keep it safe, I just now prefer oneshots.
The Elite Four TWICE Nayeon x Male Reader
(Author's note: This was my first ever K-pop work so I decided to reupload it here. Yes, very bad writing.)
In a region not so far away, a Pokemon league was newly formed. Headed by one of the city mayors of the region, Park Jin-young, he has convinced 8 other cities to hold Pokemon gyms while his city, JYP city is gonna hold the elite four and the champion. However, there is one problem, there is still no champion, so one of the elite four must act as the de facto champion, and here comes L/n Y/n, the strongest of the elite four.
The elite four consists of four (obviously) strong trainers, these four have had experience outside their region as it was only now that they'll have their first league.
The first member of the elite four is a girl named Minatozaki Sana, while the weakest among the four, she is certainly not weak compared to other trainers. A grass-type trainer and specialist by heart, she is also an environmentalist supported by the fact that she has a Leafeon as her ace. She is also the most energetic among the four, her bubbly personality however is just a ruse as she gets serious when it's battle time.
The second member is Yoo Jeongyeon, a devious prankster, matching very well to her type specialty, the dark-type. She and her ace Krookodile have been together ever since Jeongyeon was a kid. She is also renowned as having a living pokedex, being a collector by heart. While very mischievous and serious, she is shown to be caring about the Pokemon she catches.
The third and youngest member is Kim Dahyun, don't let her cute face and fairy-type Pokemon fool you because she takes her Pokemon battles seriously. She and her Tinkaton will show you a ton of pain. She's also the richest of the elite four, hailing from a rich family. Many competitors' journeys end at her, not even getting the chance to meet the last member.
The final and strongest member is no other than L/n Y/n. He is also the de facto champion. It has already been 6 months since the league was instated yet no one has ever defeated Y/n. A part-time inventor has influenced his specialty, being an electric-type specialist with Raichu as his ace. He's the most quiet among the four. He was offered to be the champion all together after a month of being undefeated but he refused thinking that the appeal of the league would decrease with him as champion. He holds the record for most gym badges in a year with XX badges before settling back in his home region where the newest league was installed.
Sana, Jeongyeon, Dahyun, and Y/n make up the first ever elite four of the league yet are still finding the perfect champion for the region. In fact, the four of them is ranked as one of the hardest leagues to beat and that's even them without a champion.
The elite four were now logging in for another day at the job, waiting for more trainers to fight them. Y/n, Sana, and Jeongyeon were waiting at the lounge. Sana brought out Leafeon and started playing with the grass-type. Jeongyeon and Y/n just sat down, being the more serious and mature half of the elite four.
“Dahyun's late again.” Y/n remarked as he snickered.
“Are you not used to it by now?” Jeongyeon chuckled.
Y/n sighed, “Well, it would be more suited for her to be present on time. Time is gold, time is the most essential thing-”
“Y/n! You can't say that when you ditch lots of press conferences of the league. Most pictures of the elite four are just us three!” Sana exclaimed as she purred her cheeks against Leafeon’s.
“Ooh… I think she got you good, Y/n.” Jeongeyon stated as she and Sana laughed. It was true, Y/n was also known as “the missing elite” due to the fact that he is always missing on photoshoots. He never really liked the publicity but he guesses his job needs him to be a public figure of some degree.
“Hey guys! I'm here!” A voice said as the longue’s door opened, it was Dahyun, finally completing the elite four.
“Perfect timing, Dahyun. Y/n here is dying for you to come.” Jeongyeon smirked and looked at Y/n who had an unamused face.
“Dahyun, you really need to know how to be early.” Y/n scolded. He was the oldest among the four, and now he's scolding the youngest. Not a rare sight for Sana and Jeongyeon but funny nonetheless.
“I'll make it up to you next time!” Dahyun pleaded as she used her aegyo at Y/n.
It's super effective…
Y/n digressed and changed his direction of glance, “Fine, fine! Anyways, since we're complete, I'll message the staff to open the doors of the league now.” Y/n said as he sent a message.
“ANNOUNCEMENT! The doors of the elite four have now opened, and the competitors, if any, are now allowed to go inside.” The speaker outside the building said but it was only heard by one pair of ears, a lone girl was standing behind the grand doors of the league. The girl was Im Nayeon.
Im Nayeon, a trainer that has already traveled to many regions. A seasoned trainer, she traveled with one of the elite four members when they journeyed through the Sinnoh region. A bit arrogant and self-confident but she also shows compassion and love for her Pokemon and the craft of battling. She's already made a name for herself, and today is the day her plethora of accolades be once more updated or will she fail against the hands of one of the most formidable elite fours of all time?
Nayeon’s team was composed of: Talonflame, Mamoswine, Delphox, Mimikyu, Sirfetch’d, and Jolteon.
“This way, ma'am.” A staff member told Nayeon as she followed suit. A big part of the building is composed of 2 arenas, one for the elite four and one unused arena, saved for who will be the first ever champion.
The flow will be a gauntlet-type. Nayeon will go against Sana, Jeongyeon, Dahyun, and then finally Y/n. Nayeon can heal her Pokemon using her own items during breaks between the elite fours.
Nayeon followed the staff and healed her Pokemon one last time before she entered Sana's stadium. Once her Pokemon were all healed up, she entered the room where you could see floral designs all around, the walls were painted green, matching Sana’s speciality, the grass-type.
“Hi! I'm Sana! I use grass-type Pokemon! Many people think of grass-types as frail and weak but then again, many don't get past me, so I wonder why? Maybe it's a skill issue on their part.” Sana smirked, cute mode was now gone and it was time to battle.
“Both the Challenger and elite four member will participate in a 4v4 Pokemon battle. Only the Challenger is allowed to switch Pokemons. Are both the Challenger and elite four member Sana ready?” The officiating referee said.
“Yes!”/”Yeah!” Nayeon and Sana said at the same time as they started the battle.
“Before we start, why 4v4?” Nayeon asked as the other leagues permit 6v6 battles in the elite four.
“It's because we're cutting time constraints. For the first months of the league, we were swarmed by trainers from all around the world. To keep it fast and quick we decided to just go 4v4 until the first champion is crowned. Lucky day for us because somehow, you're the only competitor.” Sana explained.
“Ferrothorn, I choose you!” Sana said as she brought out her first Pokemon. Ferrothorn both has the steel and grass typing, a defensive juggernaut but is very susceptible to fire-type moves.
“Well then, Talonflame, it's time to fly once more!” Nayeon shouted as the red bird soared to the roof, a fire/flying-type Pokemon, it is in a big advantage against Sana's opener, Ferrothorn.
“I did a little bit of digging about you, Miss Nayeon! I never knew you were Y/n’s travel partner when he went to Sinnoh! I'm expecting a fight as grand as my exhibition fights with him! Don't disappoint.” Sana exclaimed as Nayeon snickered.
“I won't! Talonflame, Flare Blitz!” Nayeon said as Talonflame charged at Ferrothorn.
“Iron defense, please.” Sana said as Ferrothorm braced for impact, it was a direct hit but due to Ferrothorn’s defense, it wasn't enough. The contact also gave Talonflame a run for its money, getting recoil damage from its move and Ferrothorn's ability, Iron Barbs.
“Stealth Rock, if I may.” Sana said as Ferrothorn began putting floating rocks around the arena.
“Talonflame, Fly!” Nayeon said as Talonflame soared high.
“See, I'm not in the elite four for nothing.” Sana said as she smirked, making Nayeon's smug look break as she realized what Sana meant.
“He may not be the best special attacker but just in case of situations like this, Thunder!” Sana said as Ferrothorn obliged, the lightning strike hit Talonflame who was up above. Talonflame fell down and hit the ground. The smoke cleared and revealed that Talonflame fainted.
“Talonflame is unable to battle! 3v4, with elite four member Sana with the advantage.” The referee said as Nayeon groaned.
“Thunder is such a bad move for Ferrothorn yet you used it, if it weren't for the flare blitz's recoil damage, Talonflame would've survived. You took this from Y/n’s textbook, no? I remembered him using that strategy once.” Nayeon pointed out as Sana smiled. Nayeon said, reading the situation like a book.
“Mamoswine, I choose you!” Nayeon said as the gigantic ground/ice-type showed up. Sana’s Ferrothorn was already weak and she accepted that it’ll be down next turn.
“Use Iron Defense, bud.”/”Earthquake!” Sana and Nayeon both said as the ground shaked, by the end of it, Ferrothorn was already down.
“Ferrothorn is unable to battle!” The referee announced as Sana took Ferrothorn back to its Pokeball.
“Time to shine, Breloom!” Sana said as her second Pokemon came out, the grass/fighting-type, Breloom.
“Mach punch!” Sana said as Breloom swiftly hit the Mamoswine, not giving it time to react.
The two exchanged blows and hits as Nayeon also now brought out Mimikyu and her final Pokemon, her starter, Delphox. Sana also brought out her remaining Pokemon, Roserade, and Leafeon.
It was now down to Delphox and Leafeon, 1v1 but of course Nayeon played it strategically, she has the type advantage and is ready to end Sana.
“Flamethrower, let’s end it once and for all!” Nayeon shouted as Delphox obliged, directly hitting the already injured Leafeon. The smoke cleared and showed that only Delphox was left standing.
“Leafeon is unable to battle! Elite four member Sana is out of usable Pokemon! Challenger Nayeon wins and moves on to the next fight!” The referee said as the two competitors put their final Pokemons back to their Pokeballs.
“You know, the good thing about being the first member is I can watch the other’s fight those who beat me! You earned it, Miss Nayeon! Jeongyeon is up next, she specializes in dark-type Pokemon. I’m gonna watch your battle with her! Be careful, she’s very sly with her moves.”
“I know Jeongyeon. We trained at the same academy.” Nayeon exclaimed as she started healing her Pokemons while a staff member took Sana’s and healed her mons right up.
“Ooh, I’d argue your fighting style is somewhat a mix of hers and Y/n’s. I’m still curious though, how was Y/n when traveling? He’s so quiet around us. Is he perhaps different around you?” Sana asked as Nayeon smiled.
“He’s no different from how he was with me. I quite liked his quiet side. But don’t be fooled. He’s a softie. Push the right buttons and you’ll see a new side.” Nayeon said as she reminisced about her time with Y/n in Sinnoh, a nearby region.
“Anyways, let’s wait for Jeongyeon.” Sana said as she replaced the officiating referee, it was always a custom for them that they be the referee if they lost. After five minutes, the door opened and Jeongyeon appeared. The walls of the stadium changed from green to black as Dark-type motifs also changed the floral patterns.
“Nayeon! I was watching your fight at the lounge. It’s been a while.” Jeongyeon said, getting Nayeon’s attention.
“Ready to lose, old friend?” Nayeon retaliated as Jeongyeon chuckled.
“Last time we fought, you won against me. I’m in the mood to change that.” Jeongyeon said as she, Sana, and Nayeon went to their respective positions.
“The battle between Nayeon versus elite four member Jeongyeon will now begin. Same rules apply.” Sana said as she signaled the two.
“Show them how we roll, Honchkrow.” Jeongyeon said as the dark/flying-type bird appeared in front of her.
“Jolteon, time to shine!” Nayeon said as the electric-type Pokemon revealed itself.
“Discharge!” Nayeon commanded as Honchkrow got a direct hit.
“You ok? Use Snarl!” Jeongyeon responded back, also hitting the Jolteon, lowering its special attack stat.
“I don’t have a solid counter against her Honchkrow besides my Jolteon, I can’t let it go down yet. I need to brute force out of Jeongyeon’s team.” Nayeon said to herself, analyzing the situation.
“Jolteon, volt switch!” Nayeon said as Jolteon hit Honchkrow who actually fainted from the move. This move, however, makes Nayeon have a free switch.
“Lucky!” Jeongyeon shouted.
“Skuntank, show your best.” Jeongyeon said as she revealed her second Pokemon.
“Mimikyu, time to shine!” Nayeon said as they continued battling.
Skuntank defeated Mimikyu, Mamoswine defeated Skuntank. Jeongyeon revealed her 3rd Pokemon, Cacturne which in turn defeated the Mamoswine. It was now a 2v1 with Nayeon in the lead.
Jeongyeon brought out her ace, Krookodile. Nayeon knew that Jolteon can't do anything against the ground/dark-type so she's essentially in a 1v1 situation.
“Sirfetch’d, bring us glory!” Nayeon said as she brought out the fighting-type Pokemon.
“First impression!” Nayeon shouted as Sirfetch’d hit the Krookodile.
“Aerial ace!” Jeongyeon countered as Krookodile hit the Sirfetch'd with precise moves.
The two exchanged blows, with the two Pokemon showing such resilience. Nayeon always knew that Jeongyeon would never back down from a fight. She knows that if Sirfetch'd loses, she loses the entire match.
“Time to end this, Sirfetch'd. Final gambit!” Nayeon said as Sirfetch'd charged to the Krookodile, causing the two of them to faint in the process.
Nayeon has now defeated the second member of the elite four. Nayeon brought out Jolteon as proof that she still had one more.
“Elite four member Jeongyeon is out of usable Pokemon. Nayeon wins!” Sana announced. Jeongyeon closed her eyes and smiled. She knew she was yet again bested by one of her closest friends.
Nayeon began healing her Pokemon yet again as Sana and Jeongyeon walked closer to congratulate her.
“You've already defeated the two of us. Two more to go.” Sana remarked as Nayeon smiled.
“I'd take it that Nayeon thought it was easy to beat the two of us, Sana.” Jeongyeon teased Nayeon.
“I'd disagree, you guys put me with only one Pokemon remaining. Some elite four members of other regions can't even take down one of my Pokemons. It's so bizarre that the newest Pokemon league is also considered the hardest. But fighting you two made it make more sense.” Nayeon said, complimenting the two.
“Well, better prepare yourself. The next member is Dahyun, she's the youngest but she's proven that age is just a number. Think about it, she's the second strongest trainer of the entire region! Her fairy-types are no joke in combat.” Jeongyeon stated, giving Nayeon precautions when it came to Dahyun, her next opponent.
“So, Jeongyeon… How’s Y/n?” Nayeon asked out of the blue.
“Hmmm… He scolds Dahyun for being late. He’s a great leader. Not only is he the final elite four member but he’s also incharge of this building. He takes care of maintenance and the tech stuff.” Jeongyeon stated, answering Nayeon’s question.
“Y/n’s great! He also treats me to lunch from time-to-time! There’s also that time when-”
*CLANG*
The elite fours’ door opened, cutting Sana’s talk off. Suddenly the dark walls of the arena changed to shades of pink, now equipping a butterfly motif.
“Miss Nayeon! Good thing you defeated Jeongyeon so that we can fight! But I’ll spoil your reunion with Y/n. It’s time to trip over butterflies.” Dahyun smugly said getting the attention of Nayeon, Sana, and Jeongyeon.
“Goodluck, Nayeon!” Sana said as she moved to the bleachers while Jeongyeon moved to the officiating spot.
“Miss Dahyun, while we aren’t familiar with each other, I'll give you a match worth remembering.” Nayeon taunted.
“We'll see…” Dahyun simply said as Jeongyeon sighed in defeat from the remarks of the two.
“The battle between Challenger Nayeon versus elite four member Dahyun will begin shortly! Same rules apply, please bring out your first Pokemons!” Jeongyeon stated as the two prepared.
“Alolan Ninetales, show them how it's done!” Dahyun said as the ice/fairy-type appeared in all its beauty.
Nayeon knew her team didn't have much coverage against the Fairy-type, Dahyun's specialty. So her strategy now is to go after their secondary typings.
“I'm counting on you, Delphox!” Nayeon said as the most grueling fight of the gauntlet began.
Delphox’s fire-typing defeated the Alolan Ninetales. Dahyun brought out Togekiss who made quick work of Delphox.
It was again even with a 3v3 but the hot potato like game was not over.
Togekiss was easily defeated by Jolteon but Jolteon was swept away by Florges, Dahyun's 3rd Pokemon.
Florges was a pure fairy-type, Nayeon couldn't handle it's secondary typing due to it- well it doesn't have one. She had to brute force this one out.
“Talonflame, time to shine once more!” Nayeon said as fire-types resist fairy-type moves which at least she didn't need to deal with the STAB damage.
Lots of brave birds were used by Nayeon, eventually chipping on Florges’ health until it went down. Dahyun was now at her final Pokemon, her ace, Tinkaton.
Tinkaton easily dispatched the Talonflame as Nayeon brought out her final Pokemon, Mamoswine.
Tinkaton is a fairy/steel-type while Mamoswine is a ground/ice-type. Mamoswine is weak against steel-type moves while Tinkaton is weak against ground-type moves.
They exchanged moves until Dahyun felt that it was enough.
“Time to end it, Gigaton Hammer!” Dahyun said as Tinkaton raised its hammer and ran to Mamoswine.
“Dig!” Nayeon simply said as the enormous monster dug under the ground and fully concealed itself even though it was a big Pokemon.
Tinkaton was confused with Mamoswine out of sight. Nayeon and Dahyun waited. Not until Nayeon noticed that Tinkaton stood on a part of the ground which was swelling, she already knew she won.
“Now, Mamoswine!” She said as the 8 feet tall Pokemon bursted from the ground, knocking the Tinkaton up and it fainting on impact.
“Tinkaton has fainted. Elite four member Dahyun is out of usable Pokemon! Challenger Nayeon has won!” Jeongyeon announced as Dahyun put Tinkaton back on its Pokeball.
After that, Dahyun walked to Nayeon and offered her hand, waiting for Naueon to handshake it.
“Good game, miss Nayeon. Looks like you're one step closer to greatness.” Dahyun said as Nayeon accepted her handshake.
Sana and Jeongyeon walked closer to the two with Nayeon again healing her Pokemon yet again.
“Three out of four! It's been a while since anyone went past Dahyun!” Sana exclaimed, amazed by Nayeon and her Pokemons’ prowess.
“Ready to meet Y/n?” Jeongyeon teased as Nayeon blushed.
It's been months since Nayeon saw her former travel buddy. But travel buddy would be an understatement, the two were inseparable back at Sinnoh. Not until Y/n abruptly left Nayeon, left her without a warning. Left her for the job as an elite four. Nayeon was angry, she wanted revenge but at the same she couldn't, she's half the trainer she was now if it weren't for Y/n. Y/n was the better battler and Nayeon knew that, many of Nayeon's strategies are just copied or improved from what he learned from Y/n. She always had a sweet spot for him, it'd be a lie if she says she hasn't fallen for him when they were traveling together.
Y/n would take care of her, protect her, cuddle with her when staying at Snowpoint City was too cold. Gave her medicine when she was sick and they were stuck in the woods. Y/n has always been there for her yet he left without a warning.
Suddenly, the door for the Challengers opened, an employee of the league.
“I’m sorry for the inconvenience but Sir Y/n is in an emergency meeting with the Mayor. Sir Y/n has requested the meeting be done immediately even though he has an upcoming fight. We apologize for the sudden postponement but the Challenger may partake in her lunch first before battling against sir Y/n.” The employee said as he left shortly after.
“Well, looks like Y/n had to talk about something important. Wanna go get lunch with us, Nay?” Jeongyeon asked as Nayeon looked at her.
“As long as Sana and Dahyun are fine with me joining.” Nayeon responded.
“Of course, we’d love to have lunch with what looks like the future champion!” Sana said as Dahyun nodded in agreement.
“Well, sounds like a plan! Let’s go!” Jeongyeon said as she led the way, the four girls exited the building and made their way off to lunch.
~One hour later~The four girls returned to the building and as they entered the arena, it already had a yellow wall, sparks were showing up at the sides, finally, Y/n was here.
“Nayeon, it's been a while.” Y/n said as he smiled, he rarely smiles, this hasn't gone unnoticed as Sana and Dahyun also took note of it.
“Y/n, don't you feel a little guilty of leaving me all of the sudden?” Nayeon said, reminiscing back the day Y/n said goodbye, or in this case the lack thereof.
Y/n thought about what Nayeon said, of course he was guilty. It's not like he had a reasonable excuse for it. He always regretted not saying his goodbye to Nayeon. He always hoped for a chance of reconciliation with Nayeon and now he’s given that chance. A chance not everyone gets in their lifetime.
“I’m sorry, Nayeon. I know what I did was wrong, so put me through hell in this battle of ours. Please do not hold back.” Y/n said as he continued on with his smile. Nayeon squinted her eyes and looked fiercely at Y/n… Fiercely cute.
“I’ll make history by defeating you today, Y/n!” Nayeon said as she and Y/n went face-to-face, albeit on different sides of the arena. Sana and Jeongyeon sat at the bleachers while Dahyun went to the officiating spot.
“Win or lose you make history! Win and become the first ever champion, lose and be added to my win streak, as simple as that.” Y/n smirked, it was game time.
“The battle between Challenger Nayeon and elite four member Y/n will now commence! Same rules apply! If the challenger wins, she will become the first champion of this league.” Dahyun said as Y/n nodded.
“Y/n, if I win can you do a favor for me!” Nayeon shouted as Y/n looked at her.
“What is it?” Y/n wondered.
“Don't ever leave me again!” Nayeon said as Y/n blushed, after a minute of composing himself once more, he regained composure and focused.
“Time for us to crush the competition. Magnezone, I choose you!” Y/n shouted as he brought his Magnezone, the robot electric/steel-type.
“Sirfetch'd, etch your name in glory.” Nayeon said as she brought out her fighting-type Pokemon.
“First impression!”/”Iron defense!” Nayeon and Y/n shouted respectively as Sirfetch'd made contact but made no dent to the Magnezone.
“My turn! Metal sound!” Y/n said as Magnezone followed, lowering the special defense of the Sirfetch'd.
“Close combat!” Nayeon retaliated as Sirfetch'd hit Magnezone.
“Tch, thanks for letting Sirfetch'd go near! Zap Cannon!” Y/n remarked as the usually inaccurate move had a direct hit on Sirfetch'd, with the lowered special defense. Sirfetch'd couldn't take it and fainted.
“Zap cannon? Really? Wouldn't you have preferred Thunderbolt, a more accurate move?” Nayeon teased as Y/n smirked.
“I love taking risks!” Y/n shouted.
“Fine, I'll do you one better! Talonflame!” Nayeon commanded as the bird came out of the Pokeball.
“A flying-type on my electric-types? That's what I like to see!” Y/n said as he laughed.
“Flare blitz!” Nayeon said as the braced impact took down the Magnezone, again maming it an equal fight.
“Fine, Wash Rotom, time to see the light!” Y/n said as the electric/water-type revealed itself.
“Sunny day!” Nayeon shouted as the sun revealed itself.
“Sunny day on Talonflame? Doesn't Nayeon know that Wash Rotom has no water-type moves even though it's a water type?” Y/n thought to himself as he thought Nayeon made an oversight.
“Hex!” Y/n replied.
“Dodge and use fly!” Nayeon said as Talonflame evaded Wash Rotom’s attack and instead Talonflame hit Wash Rotom for damage.
“See, Y/n… I learned a few tricks from you.” Nayeon chuckled. As Y/n saw her chuckling, he realized that the sunny day wasn't a mistake.
“Solar beam!” Nayeon said as because of the sun, it was able to charge quickly. A beam of light directly hit Wash Rotom, deeming it fainted. Nayeon now has the lead, 3v2.
“Manectric, I choose you!” Y/n said as his penultimate Pokemon was released.
“Talonflame, Flare blitz!”/”Double team!” Nayeon and Y/n said respectively as clones of Manectric scattered around the field making Talonflame miss the attack.
“Thunderbolt!” Y/n said as the bird was struck mid air, Talonflame was unable to battle.
“Mamoswine, show them!” Nayeon said as she now also revealed her penultimate Pokemon.
“Earthquake!” Nayeon said as it had a direct hit at Manectric but he was still alive and well.
“Thanks for the Sun! Overheat!” Y/n said as he took advantage of the sun that Nayeon set up. It was a direct hit to the Mamoswine, even receiving more damage because of the Sunny Day a while back. The Manectric did big damage in sacrifice for it's special attack stat.
“Earthquake again!” Nayeon said as the weakened Mamoswine used it's attack, taking down Manectric.
Y/n was now down to his last Pokemon, it was time to bring out his ace, his Raichu.
“Let's show them why we're undefeated, Raichu!” Y/n said as the mouse revealed itself.
“Iron tail!” Y/n said as the Raichu swiftly made work of the Mamoswine, bringing it down. It was now a 1v1.
“Delphox! Let's be number one, one more time!” Nayeon said as she brought out her starter.
Nayeon's journey, it all comes down to this.
“Flamethrower!”/”Double team!” Nayeon and Y/n said as Delphox unleashed flames burning the multiple copies of Raichu but not finding the actual one.
“Iron tail!” Y/n said as the closest Raichu copy hit its tail on the Delphox, doing chip damage.
“Mud shot!” Nayeon countered as Delphox hit a super effective move against the electric-type.
The two exchanged more hits as every second it became more intense.
“Double team, Raichu!” Y/n said as he created more clones of the mouse yet again.
“Swift, Delphox!” Nayeon said as the attack cleared all illusions but hit only the air.
“See, Nayeon… You won with this your last fight, how can you fall for it? Dig is such a nice move!” Y/n smirked as Nayeon gasped.
“Now, Raichu!”/”Get out of that spot, Delphox!” The two said as Raichu rose above the ground hitting Delphox and raising it into the air.
“Time to end it! Thunderbolt!” Y/n shouted as the thunderbolt connected. Causing Delphox to faint.
“Delphox has fainted, challenger Nayeon is out of usable Pokemon. Elite four member Y/n wins!” Dahyun announced as Y/n and Raichu walked closer to Nayeon who was walking to the downed Delphox.
“You guys did well, I'm sorry we couldn't win it all…” Nayeon said to her Delphox as she withdrew Delphox and met eyes with Y/n.
“It was the closest this league was having a champion.” Y/n said to Nayeon as she smiled.
“I failed to beat you, Y/n-”
“Stop pitying yourself, you've shown exemplary talent. Besides, I forgot to ask a favor before the fight started.” Y/n stated as Nayeon squinted her eyes.
“What is it?” Nayeon asked.
“If I win, don't leave me.” Y/n said, chuckling on how cheesy his statement was.
“Wh- What?” Nayeon blushed, still wondering what Y/n meant.
“I was in a meeting, right? That's why our fight was postponed. The mayor asked me yet again to be champion after being undefeated for half a year, and I accepted it. Because I already found my replacement as the final member of the elite four. You. Please accept the offer so that we can be together, no more abrupt leaving, promise!” Y/n said as he held Nayeon's hands.
“Of course! I'd love to be in the elite four!” Nayeon said as she kissed Y/n in the lips taking him aback and the three girls watching them were also taken aback, in fact they were probably more taken aback than Y/n himself.
“After Sinnoh, we were supposed to go to Kalos together, right? To Lumiose City, I was supposed to confess to you there… But you left all of a sudden.” Nayeon explained as she broke the kiss, leaving Y/n in a trance.
Y/n gained his composure back and looked at Nayeon.
“I- I love you, Nayeon. Day by day, as we traveled together I just couldn't help it. I'm sorry I made you feel pain, made you feel lonely…” Y/n said as the other girls wooed, getting the attention of the two.
“If Nayeon's gonna be the new elite four member, what's gonna be her specialty?” Jeongyeon asked.
“I always liked fire-types! I brought two of them in my team after all!” Nayeon said as Y/n smiled.
The newly formed league has now completed its lineup, with Nayeon as the newest addition. Sana, Jeongyeon, and Dahyun continued to tease Y/n and Nayeon even after they exited the arena. A new champion calls for a celebration after all. Y/n being a champion means he gets more screen time from the public but it doesn't matter anymore because Nayeon is now by his side.

Ask
Yeon's Coffee and Tea Hearts2Hearts Carmen x Male Reader
“Uh huh, so this is the place Jiwoo-unnie told me…” Yeon said, a big door in front of her. In the middle of the door, a text read training room. The sign wasn’t all formal, in fact, it was just a piece of cardboard and black marker text. The place was in a good spot, it was behind a cafe, yet it all feels sketchy and improvised.
A few days ago, Yeon was invited by Jiwoo to come and dance with them, a part of a dance group.
Yeon knocked three times, a cute yellow ribbon tied around the door knob for God knows why. After waiting for a few more seconds, the door opened, revealing one of the members.
“Hello! You must be the girl Jiwoo-unnie was talking about!” Another girl said with glee as she offered her hand, Yeon accepted the handshake.
“Oh, uh… Sorry! My name is Ian. You must be Yeon, right?” Ian asked as Yeon nodded.
“Great! Some of the members are here too. Come in…” Ian offered as Yeon followed suit.
Yeon entered and saw a very spacious room, you’d think it would have been used as extra room for the cafe but no. At the side of the room was a table and eight seats. There was plenty of food and besides Yeon and Ian, there were two more girls.
“Well, since Jiwoo-unnie told someone was coming, we thought we’d have a small welcome party. Also, there’s Ana-unnie and Juun-unnie over there.” Ian said as she pointed to the two girls, the two girls waved back at them as Yeon bowed.
Yeon sat down as the four girls talked about the dance group. Truth be told, their dance group isn’t that big or anything, but they have a solid local fanbase still. As for Yeon, she only really knew Jiwoo as they were from the same neighborhood. The dance group is made up of both college and high school students, 7 students in fact. Jiwoo, Carmen, Yuha and Stella complete the members not present in the discussion of the 4 girls.
As the discussion continued on, Yeon made an astute observation, “Can I ask something?” The older girls nodded.
“Why are there eight seats here if there are only seven of you?”
“Well, we have an eighth member, a behind-the-scenes member, if you will.” Juun stated as the doors opened again.
“Why would you do that?!” Carmen shouted as a boy followed behind him.
“He was clearly hitting on you, Carmen.” The boy said in response.
“So what, Y/n?” Carmen asked, looking back at the boy.
“Well, he isn’t good looking. You deserve better. Maybe someone like me.” A smug face seen on Y/n. Yeon gasped, the other three just shrugged it off. It was as if she was viewing a romcom.
“You’re so RUDE!” Carmen said as she sat down, Y/n sitting beside her.
“Hey, if I was that rude, you guys wouldn’t have a place to stay.” Again, another provocative statement, it already felt like Yeon was also getting irritated with the young man.
Ian noticed Yeon’s annoyance, “Don’t, they’re always like that. And well, Y/n is also always like that.”
“Hey, hey… look at me.” Y/n said as Carmen ignored him and started eating the food that was prepared.
Yeon noticed that Y/n was starting to pout, a taste of his own medicine.
“A shame, I was thinking of giving free coffee today.” Y/n sighed as Carmen shifted moods and looked at him.
“Deal.” Carmen said as she stood up and dragged Y/n out of the room with the boy smiling, defeated. Again leaving the original four alone.
“So… Now I have more questions.” Yeon told the three as they all chuckled.
“Ask away.” Ana said.
“First, what did Y/n-oppa say about you guys not having a place to stay?”
“Well, this cafe is actually owned by his family. Y/n-oppa and Jiwoo-unnie are childhood friends and Y/n-oppa’s family has always been supportive of us.” Ana answered.
“Second, is Y/n–oppa the one you guys said that works behind-the-scenes?”
“Yeah, he’s the one that often handles the documentation and all. Also helps us with our social media pages, I guess that’s the benefits of being chronically online.” Juun responded.
Yeon nodded, “And lastly… What are they? Y/n-oppa and Carmen-unnie?” She asked.
“Friends?” The three older girls shrugged their shoulders.
“Lovers?” Another one with the same answer.
“Dating?” Again, silence.
“To be honest with you, we also don’t know what’s going on with Y/n-oppa and Carmen-unnie.” Juun spoke out.
“We think they like each other-” Ana continued.
“But, maybe the two are just in denial. Puppy love yet they’re also the two oldest people here.” Ian laughed.
“Did you guys ask them about it?” Yeon further interrogated, maybe a bit too good at gossip.
“Yeah, we tried, Y/n-oppa is the kind of person that would never give you a straight answer and Carmen-unnie just denies it outright.” Ana answered back, the other two girls sighing in defeat.
“To be fair, they look good together. And well, Y/n-oppa is just a very… Uh- how do you say this… very closed when it comes to his boundaries.” Juun said as Ian nodded.
“Yeah, while he’s very devious, he’s usually short-tempered to most people. It’s mostly Carmen-unnie and Jiwoo-unnie who he lets banter with him. Y/n-oppa teases people frequently, including us. But one true test to know if he’s alright with you is if he lets you tease him back. And for most of the time, only Carmen-unnie has that privilege. Hence, the idea of why we think they just like each other.” Ian theorized as the three others agreed.
After a few minutes, Y/n and Carmen went back to the room, hand-in-hand as Carmen held what seems to be a free drink from Y/n.
The two sat down quietly, as if nothing happened earlier. Ian gave Yeon the look, a look saying something along the lines of “See what we mean?” to which Yeon understood immediately.
Carmen and Y/n took their respective seats besides each other and carried on as usual as Y/n opened her phone.
A few seconds and glances later, Y/n looked at Yeon, “Pardon me for not noticing you earlier but I'm guessing you're the girl Jiwoo was talking about? I'm Y/n, I don't dance but I help a lot here. More than the other girls would like to admit as well. Always underappreciated, the unsung hero of the girls.” He introduced with a smirk on his face, making the girls roll their eyes.
“I’m Carmen! The oldest here, and not one to act like a main character that’s for sure.” Carmen intervened, a punch from Y/n’s dialogue.
“Might I remind you who bought the coffee you’re holding?” Y/n looked back at her.
“For all I know, it’s your parents paying for this as you always get free drinks.”
“Also, stop with YOU being the oldest, just a few months before me. That’s negligible.”
The six waited for the others to show up, some smalltalk here and there. After a few minutes, the eight girls were complete and tried to dance a few songs. By the end of that, the seven older girls agreed to Yeon joining the group. To be fair, it really wasn’t a formal joining of the group, it’s more just the girls wanting to see how Yeon dances. And so with Yeon joining, the family just got bigger.
~The next day~
It was another day of Yeon visiting the cafe. No dance routines or practice today. No, nothing of the like. It’s just that the cafe is en route to her home from school and she decided to take a visit.
She walked, no more knocking needed, she argued maybe no one was there. Gently opened the door, surprised to see two people, Y/n and Carmen.
One thing Yeon kept in mind, however, was Carmen was asleep, leaning her head on Y/n’s shoulder while Y/n was just scrolling on his phone with the unaffected arm. For Yeon, the sight was cute, serene.
Y/n gestured with his arm to be quiet as Yeon nodded. The younger girl sat down, also noticing that the eight seats from yesterday became nine. She sat at the seat across Y/n, a direct view of the pair.
Yeon brought out her lunch box, Y/n chuckled, “Didn’t eat lunch?” The boy asked, Yeon nodded.
“You and me both, though, ever since I went to college, I think I’ve only had 2 meals a day. So you should make do with your lunch.” Y/n advised as Yeon continued eating.
Y/n tried to shift his body a bit, only to be proven futile as Carmen’s grip got tighter, making the boy sigh in defeat as Carmen continued with her sleep.
Yeon chuckled, “Are you comfortable there, Y/n-oppa?”
“I- I’m getting by, though maybe me being stuck in this position for more than half an hour now isn’t helping. But it’s her, so maybe I wouldn’t complain that much.”
“Could I ask you something, Y/n-oppa?”
Y/n nodded, “Sure, go ahead. Unless, it’s your assignment.”
“Do you like Carmen-unnie?” The statement, while as loud as a soft whisper, has echoed even at the deepest crevices of Y/n’s head. Yeon’s right, what even are they?
“I- I hope you realize I’m dumb at these kinds of topics. I’ve liked girls before, don’t get me wrong. But, this time, I don’t know. You know what, I’ve also asked myself that question. Because, it all just started with her being close to me. Y’know, I never knew how to reciprocate the affection and care so I just do what people do to me. And when Carmen ended up being touchy and all, I reciprocated it.” Y/n explained, deflecting the question by a bit.
Y/n stayed silent, a moment to think and reflect, “And now, I’m scared… I don’t want to make a move if this all turns out to be her innate caring self. I don’t want this to end, and that I’m sure of.”
“Wait… You want to make a move?” Yeon gasped, making Y/n realize the words he just dropped.
“I can’t believe this, out of all the people I’d talk to about this, somehow the fifteen-year-old was the one that got me.” Y/n laughed.
“Mhhmf…” The sleeping beauty suddenly groaned, making Y/n instantly get nervous from the sudden movement as the young girl in front of them was enjoying the scene.
“Another question, what did you like about Carmen-unnie?”
“She’s sweet, caring. While not the one leading the group when it comes to them performing, being the oldest of the group also carries some unsaid weight. She glues the group together, she’s the one not wavering, a rock unmoved. That’s a heavy burden yet she makes it look so easy. And me? I just want to help her in any way I can. Unfortunately for her, the best way I can think of is the constant teasing and whatever background stuff I do.” Y/n explained, a smug look on her face.
“I think she appreciates your efforts, Y/n-oppa. Don’t worry about it…”
That day, Yeon knew more about Y/n and whatever his relationship was with Carmen. Usually in these kinds of groups, it would take a long time for the new guy to find out things the old members hold deep as secrets in their heart. But no matter if Y/n would blame the wind or his mouth that couldn’t shut up, Yeon knew what he felt.
Eventually Yeon and Y/n’s conversation had to shift topics with Carmen waking up but with Y/n’s new found realizations, maybe the course of the following days would change drastically.
~The next day~
As tomorrow came, the trio were again the only one at the training room but Yeon noticed Y/n’s antics as a bit different. The usually cool and smug Y/n got more easily flustered, easily nervous, and while it was way funny for Yeon, it was also a sign that Y/n can show his vulnerable side more easily now to Carmen. Carmen noticed it too, it wasn’t a change of heart, Y/n had always been sweet on the right circumstances though she noticed that the usually contrarian and argumentative Y/n was quieter, maybe even just Carmen finding Y/n staring at her at random times and they break the eye contact awkwardly.
“You’ve been acting a bit too different today, Y/n. Got a fever?” Carmen asked, putting her hand on Y/n’s forehead. Now, Y/n doesn’t have a fever but the way he’s beet red you’d guess he’s got a bad case of an illness.
“No… I- I’m just gonna buy us some snacks…” Y/n denied, both Yeon and Carmen’s eyes
“What do you guys want?” Y/n sheepishly asked as the two girls said their orders. The boy left, leaving Yeon and Carmen alone.
“Carmen-unnie, can I ask you something?” Yeon asked, a need to quench her thirst for gossip.
Carmen smiled, “Yeah, ask away.”
“Do you like Y/n-oppa?” A straightforward question needing a straightforward answer.
“Of course! The altercation me and him had when you first got here was just me trying to get him jealous. But his dense brain couldn’t comprehend it. Everything to him is a competition, everything to him is unserious. And maybe that’s why even us have it so hard understanding his true intentions. But for what it’s worth, he’s been different lately, maybe softening up. I mean, that’s what I like about him. He says he doesn’t care but he really does, and he cares so much even the smallest of details most of the time it’s only him that notices it. He’s a big tsundere.” Carmen laughed to which Yeon agreed at the last statement.
Carmen told more about how she and Y/n met. Though, after a few minutes the conversation was cut short by Y/n arriving with yet again the free food and drinks. In any case, Yeon already has the story confirmed. A big news scoop, well, only if Y/n and Carmen were K-pop idols and Yeon be Dispatch.
~The next day~
As Yeon was now excited to see what developments her favorite romcom would have today, and by romcom she meant Y/n and Carmen, she again decided to go to the training room. Quickly she became a familiar face to the ones manning the cafe as she greeted them with glee. She gently opened the door of the training room and…
There she saw Y/n and Carmen, lips almost touching, a bit too fast in her head. She couldn’t comprehend it immediately as she left there staring. The distance between the two got smaller and smaller until they realized who was staring at them.
“It’s not what you think!” Y/n and Carmen said in unison but Yeon has already made up her mind.
“I’m happy for you two. I’ll be eating outside.” She smiled and slowly closed the door pretending nothing happened.
And so ends the first few days of Yeon being the newest member of the dance group, and while there was little to no dancing at all, Yeon picked up a lot of coffee and… tea.

The Haikus of a Dreamer tripleS Mayu x Male Reader
I am a dreamer
Back then, yes, I dreamed clearly
Story of a girl
I loved her so much
To the point that I loved her
Greater than myself
So, now let's begin
Hear the story of the damned
My story, of course
The beauty of her
Indescribable, I say
True love at first sight
Girl made in Japan
Charismatic and funny
Nice and mystical
In college we met
I gathered courage to talk
And her name she said
Her name? Royalty
Koma Mayu, my first love
Discreetly, of course
We did become friends
Feelings unsaid yet made felt
Everyday lovely
An exchange student
Fearing she go back eastward
Judgment day of mine
Everyday I loved
Everyday I yearned for you
Everyday I pained
She always told me
“I love you for you do not…”
“Do not what?” I asked
“Fall in love with me”
Heartstrings popped, in too deep now
Too dumb and reckless
Days turned into weeks
Getting lost, my heart hurting
My mind, lost in time
“I’m in love with you”
I blurted, she laughed, she smiled
“Maybe I’m Naive”
"I'm sorry." She told
"I love someone in Japan"
Sentence so cruel
And so I left her
College became gloomier
The days were ticking
Then she went back home
And never saying goodbyes
The blame is on me
So she’s a story
I grew older missing her
But now, I’m wiser
I Finished college
I’m working a nine to five
Right, a normal life
A normal life lived
I expected more back then
When I was younger
One day, mail, I got
Opened, it was from Japan
And it was Mayu
Invitation mail
Invited to a wedding
My heart sank deeper
Still though, I went there
The land of the rising sun
One mission in mind
I went to the place
She was in her wedding dress
Pulchritudinous
But as she walked near
And I saw she was happy
I had to let go
To be fair, I left
I was too lost and broken
Not saying farewell
The bride kissed the groom
It was my signal to go
Again, no goodbyes
And that’s my story
A story of a dreamer
An attempt in love
Moment near her heart
Is a whole minute of bliss
All that I could dream
So, my dear reader
What could you learn from all this?
None, nothing at all
Christmas Alone tripleS Chaeyeon x Male Reader
“Dude, you should try this rental girlfriend app!!!” Your friend shouted over the phone.
“What— Rental girlfriend? Do they actually exist? Also, why should I try them? I am NOT that desperate to find a girlfriend. Rather just focus on college for now.” You responded, a hint of disgust on how people would be desperate to rent people to play pretend to be their girlfriend.
“Hey, it wouldn’t hurt for you to try. Besides, you’re rich as fuck. But like, you have to try it. Nothing wrong with trying it and never ever touching it again, no?” He pleaded, you rolled your eyes. You can hear it in his voice, the persistence, the determination to make you fold into temptation.
“Fine, I’ll think about it. Anyways, why are you calling at 1 AM? There’s got to be a better reason.” You complain as you hear him laugh.
“Yeah, wanna play League?”
“Sure.” You said as you ended the call, turning your computer on as you and your friends stayed up until 4 AM to play. As you were playing, it may be the lack of sleep, or it must’ve been the wind, but you caught yourself downloading the rental girlfriend application. Truth be told, you were curious. You had girlfriends before, you were no stranger to relationships. But this is just essentially a blind date where you pay more, right?
You set up an account, you just hope no one you know sees this account, nor sees someone you know as a rental girlfriend. But before you could really explore the application, you fell asleep, maybe you could dream of your ideal girlfriend before you choose one tomorrow.
~one sleep later~
You woke up, it was already 10 AM. No classes since its Christmas break. You walked out of your room, trying to find your mother. Well, the search was over quite fast when you saw the note on the refrigerator.
I’ll be back tonight. - love, mom.
Sitting at the table, you ate breakfast, the food already cold. You again looked at your phone, you always had all applications on organized folders. But you forgot to organize the rental girlfriend app.
Well, to be fair, where would you even put the said application. You never used dating apps. Anyways, you put it in the entertainment folder, because it might amuse you. Corny? Yeah, that sums up your sense of humor.
You scrolled and saw a plethora of girls. And they were all beautiful, mind you. You started to understand why your friend spends his time here a lot.
“Lots of girls…” You murmured under your breath.
You scrolled, seeing some girls who really look like an ideal type of yours.
“Kotone? Ooh, a Japanese one too.” You said as you moved on to the next.
“Hmm… Yooyeon? Well, she’s beautiful but that’s an age gap. Would I even imagine dating someone not the same age as me?” Another remark as you moved on to the next.
“Next one, Kaede? Wow, lots of Japanese girls here.” At this point, maybe it's a personality issue, the way you’re talking about random girls like this. But in your defense, if you’re gonna use this app, might as well find the best one, right?
On your next scroll, you’ve been brought to a girl named Yubin. She looks beautiful, maybe the most beautiful that you've ever seen.
You contemplated for a few minutes. In the end, it never really hurts to try. You pressed continue and you saw lots of details need to be filled in, as if you didn't fill up lots of information before you fell asleep last night.
You had to fill in what time you would request, and a somewhat detailed description on how the date would go. It's a bit nitpicky, and you don't even know if the girl would know about the plan or it would just be for the company to know that the girls aren't being trolled. But, nevertheless, you made it, after an hour of gruesome thinking, that is.
You pressed click, a substantial amount of money out of your bank account. You weren't one of the wealthiest families in Korea, but you'd argue you can buy a building or two if you really wanted one. Also, it's Christmas, the best time to splurge money.
Shortly after that, you received a message that Yubin has confirmed your reservation.
“It's a date then.” You said, finishing up your breakfast as you started wondering on how the date will be tomorrow.
Going back to your room, you turned on your computer. Immediately searching how to handle first dates. Sure, you've had 3 girlfriends before, 2 in high school and 1 during freshman year but this is essentially a blind date.
Also, it's been almost a year and a half now since you had your last date with your last ex, your charisma skills might've gotten rusty, too rusty.
“Flowers always work, right?” You nodded in agreement with yourself.
A short look at your wardrobe, and while you could buy more clothes, maybe jeans and a short-sleeved polo would do. You tried fitting it on. The last time you wore it was a few months ago, and it was evident it's now more fitted on you.
The date you planned was simple, just a get together at the mall. Maybe even buy the girl some clothes since it is Christmas after all. Well, you thought the girls in the app might get many gifts from their clients but it doesn’t hurt to give more, right?
~the first date~
You’re now at the mall, 5 minutes early. Well, it’s better to be early than late. You looked at your phone, and you received a message from Yubin herself, about 10 minutes ago. You read it, it wasn’t really the best of messages.
Yubin: Hello, Y/n! There’s an emergency on my end. I couldn’t come. However, I found a substitute for me. She’s beautiful, higher rated than me, even. I’ve already sent back your money, and don’t worry about her. She said she’ll do this for free. I apologize for the inconvenience. Her name is Chae, long hair and is wearing a gray coat. Let's meet again some other time!
The message read, you sighed, you really wanted to meet her. But I guess you can’t complain, money’s refunded after all. But now you are on an actual blind date. Yubin didn’t leave any details besides her name and what she’s wearing for today. But you digressed. Before you went to the meet up spot though, you ought to buy the flowers you planned.
You don’t know what girls actually like, so you just bought camellias, the one in-season. After that, you started looking for Chae. You wonder what she looks like. Does she resemble Yubin? Or maybe even resembling the girls you passed on in the application? Thoughts flurried inside your mind. In fact, the mystery made it even better. The thrill of not knowing who you’re gonna face.
You tread lightly, the Christmas crowd was crazy but you found your direction to the meet up place. In the vicinity, you saw a long-haired girl standing, looking back. You assume it was Chae.
“Hello? Do you know Yubin?” You asked, not really wanting to ask somewhere along the lines that would expose she’s a rental girlfriend nor would you ask something that would expose you as someone renting one.
She turned around and the moment you saw her face. It was then that you realized you should’ve not downloaded the app at all. That there were bad omens circling around you yet you decided to not listen to it.
“You- Chaeyeon? I- I’m baffled.” You stuttered, her cheeks turning red.
And lo and behold you are now on a date with your ex. It was as if you were just trying to remember what dates you two went to as a plan you sent out to the application.
“Y/n… It’s been a while.” A soft and uncertain voice. Sure, she was quiet but the silence was loud.
The two of you didn't end on good terms. Her soft voice now was the complete opposite of the last time you spoke to her. She shouted at you, screamed at you, berated you with insults.
Well, you couldn't blame her. It was your fault the relationship failed. You got tired, you cheated, you betrayed her.
“I got you a flower, by the way.” You initiated, trying to break the ice.
“A flower on the first date? I remember the same old trick. You still use that to hit on girls?” She sarcastically asked, still taking the flower off of your hands though.
“Mind you, this is the first time I went on a date after we broke up.” You pointed out, a frown still on her face, maybe you should avoid talking about your shared past.
“Anyways… Yubin didn't tell me anything about the date. So, I guess, I'll be in your care.” Chaeyeon bowed.
You took her hand, holding it for the first time ever since that final night.
“What are you doing?” She asked due to your sudden touch.
“We still have a date, y'know? Is there a problem?”
“No, I would’ve expected for you to just call this off.”
“Well, I wouldn’t want my plan to be ruined. But if you're uncomfortable with this set up. It’s fine as well. I also wouldn’t take it against you and Yubin on the app. I know practices like these have shady businesses. So I’d leave her a good review nonetheless.” You reasoned out, it was a somewhat baseless accusation given you don’t know much of the ins and outs of this particular business field, however, you wouldn’t want any of the people getting hurt now, do you?
Chaeyeon stared at you, “That’s so… out of character for you.” A rather harsh but understandable remark.
“So, should we still go on the date? It’s your call if you’d take a chance with the guy who’s miserable enough to try the application.” You joked, she laughed.
“Oh, in that case, I’m already used to miserable guys. So, where will you take me, Y/n?” She accepted, a smile crept in your face for in your mind the moment you saw her you knew it was over.
“I was thinking of just checking out some clothes. You guys do accept gifts, right? Or is there like any company policy that would forbid you guys from receiving things you guys can use outside the date?” You asked as Chaeyeon shook her head.
“Great! Let’s go to the department store.” Guiding the way. For the first time in almost 19 months, you and her walked side-by-side, hands intertwined.
While walking with Chaeyeon, lots of thoughts came into mind. What if some of your friends see you with her? They'd probably laugh at you. But if some of her friends see this? You might get slapped at.
Eventually, you reached the men's section. Lots of clothes you've never really cared about until now. Usually, your mom is the one that picks your clothes for you but you argued it's time to grow up. By growing up, you mean finding another woman to be dependent on when it comes to your fashion sense.
“So, Chaeyeon, what'd you think would fit me?” You asked, a light chuckle came from her.
“Even until now you still don't know how to pick your own clothes.”
“I- just pick for me, alright? I'm thinking of polos similar to the one I'm wearing now. I mean, this suits me, right?” You gestured as she nodded.
Chaeyeon took a look at the array of clothes. Eventually she found one that she thought you may like. It was green, your favorite color.
“I think this would look great. I also took the next size on your usual size of clothes back then. Because, well, do you need me to say it out loud?” She asked, giggling to herself as you rolled your eyes.
“Very funny, Chaeyeon. But you’re right, I’ve gotten a bit flabbier. Anyways, let’s also get you something nice.” You said, she smiled at you, holding your hand again as she gave you the polo.
After a short walk to the other side, you were now at the women’s section. While the men’s section for some reason had a hardware section adjacent to it, to which you could easily smell wood and metals, the women’s section was adjacent to the section with perfumes, make-up, and other things you have never understood even with your 21 years of living.
“You choose a dress for me, Y/n.” She said, making you look at her.
“Can’t you do that by yourself? Like old times.” You blurted out, so much for not talking about the past.
“I thought it would be nice for you to pick one for me. It’s your treat after all.” Chaeyeon insisted, to which she is right.
Now you’re given a choice. What dress suits her the most. Lots of dresses and one man. This is way harder than your college examinations. It took you a while, taking the dresses one by one off of the rack as you inspected them. At the side, Chaeyeon was smiling, close to laughing as she had never seen you this dumbfounded.
“You’re enjoying this a bit too much, Chaeyeon.” You said, still struggling to pick a dress.
Eventually, you found a white dress that you felt would suit Chaeyeon well. You looked at her, and then back at the dress. It would seem that you like the idea of her in this dress and as a man, you deem that as a fit enough reason.
“I found the perfect dress, Chaeyeon.” You smiled.
“Great! We can head to the counter now.”
“You aren’t gonna try it on? See if it fits?”
“I trust your eye, Y/n. You have a knack at staring and observing girls’ bodies.” Chaeyeon teased, stopping you at your thoughts.
“You’ve become wittier. I like it more when a woman has a lot to say. Anyways, let’s not get off track.” You diverted, making your way to the cashier.
After paying for the clothes, the two of you made your way to the nearby cafe. Most of the talk you had with Chaeyeon now was just small talk. The elephant in the room hasn’t been addressed yet.
Why is she a rental girlfriend?
The moment you realized it was her, something within you snapped. She wasn’t your obligation anymore, no. But still, you’re thinking Chaeyeon shouldn't be this desperate for a job, no? But who are you to judge? You aren’t the nicest person ever. In fact, rental girlfriends are just trying to get a job.
The two of you found a vacant table, you gave your orders to the waiter and the two of you stared at each other. For once, dead air. But maybe that’s what the two of you needed. You waited for your cup of coffee, a solid five minutes of silence.
Once your orders arrived, you decided small talk was over.
“Chaeyeon, can I ask something?” You asked, breaking the tense atmosphere, she nodded.
“About Yubin… Well, I know you’re a rental girlfriend based on your answers earlier but… When and how? Does your family know about this? Does Chaewon know? But please don’t answer if you’re uncomfortable.” You dropped, curiosity kills the cat.
“No, it’s fine. I’m actually glad you asked. It’s a long story. I’ve been here for 15 months now. My family doesn’t know, I just tell them I’m working part time in a bookstore. Shortly after we broke up, the family got into debt. Our small business was struggling to make ends meet. Thankfully we’re in a much better position now but Chaewon is now in college too. I have to help my parents fund it. She’s such an intelligent girl, It’d be a waste if she can’t go. And there’s also my personal things too. Y’know, find the right clients and this job pays more than well. And with that, I can easily pay off the things I need to take care of and still have something left for myself.” She explained, you understood. After the two of you broke up, you never really heard from her again. You tried asking her friends how she had been but all you got was angry stares and them telling you off.
“I- I don’t know what to say. I mean, I’m glad you’re safe and all but as we were finding clothes earlier I can’t help but overthink that some clients aren’t the nicest of guys. I hope you haven't had experiences with that.” You replied, it must’ve been the most sincere thing you’ve said this year.
“Well, you’re right with that. There’s some disgusting men I’ve encountered. I really don’t want to talk about it that much. But thanks for the concern.” Chaeyeon forced a smile.
And when it all comes down, you were always the problem, no? You’re the protagonist of the story, an annoying protagonist, mind you. You always had that savior complex, wanting to save the day. Chaeyeon knows it all too well, that suffocating personality of yours when you two were a thing.
“I- Why didn’t you tell me? I could’ve helped you, Chaeyeon.” You said, trying not to tear up. You didn’t know what to feel. The only thing you knew is that learning she had it hard, it felt like it was unfair and that made you angry.
“You were my ex, Y/n. Don’t you know how bad that would’ve sounded if people found out I begged help from you?” She said as she started crying. You grabbed your handkerchief and wiped off her tears.
“I- I’m sorry, I shouldn't have said that. But, it just hurts me hearing that. You’re special to me, Chaeyeon. And I hate that you’ve experienced those things.” You cried out, leaving your seat and sitting beside her to comfort her.
“It’s fine, Y/n. You were always the brash one. I liked that about you, y’know? You were never afraid to voice things out, even if it meant hurting someone’s feelings. But I guess it really does hurt now that I’m at the receiving end of it.” She chuckled, forcing out a smile.
“Chae, I failed as a boyfriend back then. I won’t fail you as a human being now. If you want to cry, cry it all out. The world will judge you no matter what you do anyways. I mean, even me, I was skeptical about this at first. But if I would’ve known I’d meet you here, I would’ve downloaded the app immediately.” You told her as she looked at you, the frown disappearing.
“Thanks, Y/n. I- I guess this wasn’t the date you planned but life works mysteriously, no?”
“It does, and I’m glad it’s with you I got to experience this. So, I’m sorry for everything, for back then, it was so dumb of me.”
“Mhm… For someone as smart as you, you were really dumb back then. Always needing me to keep you in check.” She joked, seeing her go back to her normal self again.
“You’re right, now I still need someone to keep me in check.” You said, making her blush.
“Wh- What does that mean?” She asked.
“Well, I never really dated after we broke up. And I just tried this cause my friends told me to try and it wouldn’t hurt, right?” You said as you looked at your phone, the time you asked for at the planned date is coming to an end.
“You know, we could still talk even if the time of rent passes.” She remarked, noticing the time as well.
“No, you might need to do something later. I shouldn’t take up much of your time. Also, our coffee is almost empty.” You pointed out as the two of you laughed.
The two of you stood up, trying to catch up more as you offered to bring her home.
As you reached her home, “Here’s payment for today, Chaeyeon.” You brought out the money from your wallet, a hefty sum.
“Oh no! You shouldn’t, Y/n.” She said, declining.
“No, I insist. You gave me your services, of high quality too. Just take it.” You rolled your eyes, she laughed as she finally took the bills from your hand.
“Thank you, Y/n. See you around.”
“No problem, Chase. Hope to see you around and have fun during the holidays.” You said, waving goodbye as you started driving off. The whole car ride was you trying to get your mind off of her but persistently failing.
And now you’re alone again, in your room, trying to think of what’s next for you, what’s next for chaeyeon, what’s next for you two, together.
You stared at your phone, the date was so good you forgot to take pictures or save each other's contacts. To be fair, she probably only has you blocked because of what happened a long time ago.
But staring at your phone, you realized, the application isn’t a one time use. You opened the app, searching for Chaeyeon.
And as soon as you know it,
“This is a message of confirmation from Chaeyeon who agreed to the date.
Below are the details of the date you’ve given and written:

And maybe you won’t be spending Christmas Alone this year.
