I really liked your new Lynn oneshot! I was also wondering if you had any plans to update your Lynn series on Wattpad. That series is so good and I think Iâve read it at least 5 times over so far!
er like the other books probably not, im already past that point in math the ideas and themes lol sorry
Heavy Weather Superposition: The Effect of Thunderstorms on Relativity in Earth and its Consequences on Time and Space
tripleS Lynn x Male Reader
Time is a fine concept. In basic calculus, time is a variable of the distance function, to which it implies that time is a variable in speed and acceleration if we take in the derivatives. And if we go deeper to Einsteinian physics, time takes a weird turn.
Albert Einstein said time is relative, that time depends on the observer and where they are in that point of space. One person could experience time faster, one slower. In the minute scale of life on Earth we also know that moving things experience time slower but we move so slow that the difference is indistinguishable. Nevertheless, we experience the phenomena of time dilation.
But to bore you with physics is something I would never wish to you, nor to anyone, not even my worst enemy. I wouldnât even bore myself with it yet I study it. So let me tell you a story, maybe something, you could learn a moral or two.
*BOOM*
A thunderclap heard from nearby, âThis storm might take a while.â
Itâs rainy, a pretty unfortunate sight. It might be cuddle weather time but I have to finish some stuff up.
Newton's cradle swings, two beads to the left, two beads to the right. The notes on the whiteboard, ink of different colors scattered. This study of mine is a bit cramped, to be fair, it's not really a study, it's just a guest room I repurposed to have a table and a whiteboard, my books just lying on the table, no shelves within, even the walls are just white. And to top it all off a green plastic chair. The clock ticked, 3:00 as a knock on my door was heard.
âCome in.âÂ
It was my partner, Lynn, holding a cup of coffee. We have been living with each other since our undergrad years, and we have been in smaller apartments, but it feels like this one is gonna stay for a while. With both of us having work, me as a teaching associate in the nearby university while Lynn was a music performer, she has a band with a few of her friends and while she also works part time as an instructor in the same university as you, she prioritizes the career she has with her friends.
âHey, coffee break?â She smiled, itâs always that look of her that gets me. Sheâs cute yet also very alluring, mischievous yet comforting, different yet familiar.
I nod, I walked closer to her, getting the mug from her hand and exiting the room.
I sat down beside her, she was just watching the television.
âSo? How's your paper going?â She asked, starting the conversationÂ
âI'm stuck on one part, maybe now I'm starting to regret taking this specialization.â I joked as she sighed.
âWell, if only I can help you with that. But the only thing I know about Physics is that gravity was only invented when an apple fell on Newtonâs head.â
âFirst of all, itâs discovered, not invented. Second, it was never true that the apple hit him on the head, it fell near him, but not his head.â
âSee, even the most simple of the stories I couldnât grasp.â
I put my arm on her shoulder, âHey, I donât even know how to play the C major chord on the guitar. Iâd say weâre on equal footing.â
âHow did we even end up together? Weâre so different yet it clicked.â I asked her as she had a faint smile.
âReally? You wanna remember that? Remember the time when you got all wasted because for some reason you were alone.â
~Some time ago~
The bar, it's a noisy place. Mind you, I never liked going to the bar, it reeks of cologne, sweat, and alcohol all mixed up, the tables are all dirty, the thought of drunk people acting makes you cringe, the music was noisy supported by the bad dance moves of the majority. The bar life just isnât for me.
Besides that, you were always also too punctual. Always arriving early may it be parties, meetings, and other occasions. This also made you develop a habit of always asking your peers where they are and it might seem annoying for them, you donât mind. Youâd rather be the strict one than the late one. Itâs very disrespectful to be late since you are wasting someoneâs time after all.
It was already 10:05 PM, 5 minutes past the time we agreed upon.
You sent your customary âWhere are you guys?â message in the group chat but I was barraged by the worst messages I could've ever seen.
âSorry, bro. Got an emergency come up.â
âGirlfriend got me caught up. Maybe next time.â
âWhat they said.â
Those three messages solidified that I am gonna be alone in the bar. It's ten in the evening, and there's already an increasing number of people entering. The dance floor gets noisier as the DJ plays some trendy remix of an old song to appease the gen Zs.
I was hesitant, if I should stay or should I go. But, I thought about it, and maybe drinking alone once in a while seems good.
All the tables were occupied, well, it would also be a dickhead move to get a table when Iâm alone.
I scanned the area, too many beautiful girls, mind you, but sometimes appreciating is better than having, no? Like a Ballon dâOr, I know I'll never be a top football player but the trophy looks nice anyways.
I eventually made your way to the seats near the bartender, far from the music, and the seats at least leave a little room for Jesus. Luckily there was one seat with no one occupying it. I rushed, no problem there.
I asked the girl beside the vacant seat, âIs this seat taken?â
She looked at me, a devilish smirk, âNo, feel free to sit beside me.â
I smiled at her, offering my hand, âIâm Y/n. You?â
âStraight to the point, I like that. Iâm Lynn. But you can call me whatever.â Lynn responded.
I took a look at her outfit, itâs not the usual youâd see in this kind of bar. The bar reeked of overpriced alcohol and the bourgeoisie and her outfit was more grunge, she looked cool while looking like a spoiled brat that got a free car from his parents on his 18th birthday.
âHey, arenât you looking a bit too much?â Lynn said, breaking my train of thought and making me flustered as I stared back at her.
âI- Iâm sorry⊠Itâs your outfit, pretty out of place here but you look good in it.â I remarked, another chuckle on her face.
âWell, I donât really like this place. In fact, Iâm convincing people to get out of here. So what do you say? Wanna head out?â Lynn suggested, making me think, is she really one to move that fast?
âOh⊠uhm⊠arenât we missing a couple few steps?â I asked.
She laughed, âFor a guy that looked so boring, youâre pretty funny. See, thereâs another nearby drinking place, not as high end as this but I'm gonna perform later! I'm a guitarist and the more people we get there the bigger our pay will get from the owner. So, let's get out of here?â She said, with me not knowing if the first part was an insult or a compliment. part was an insult or a compliment.
I thought about it for a minute, âWell, I was looking to drink, would I get free beers there?â
âFine, Iâll put it on the tab of somebody else.â Lynn said as she grabbed my hand as we rushed, the bartender wondering why we never really drank any.
âSo, am I your first victim?â I smirked, as much as I wanted to believe that a beautiful girl is interested in me, she already revealed her motive.
âNo, I swooned a few guys before you, but youâre the only one tonight and the only one Iâm leaving with, if youâre that jealous.â She teased back, I rolled my eyes as we headed to the exit.
The place she talked about was 10 minutes away, we arrived and the place was smaller, and had fewer people. The vibe was certainly different, itâs like the bar for students seated at the back.
âFind yourself a place youâre comfortable with. Also, just get the beer and tell it's on Kotoneâs tab. I would love to share the first drink with you but we need to prepare. See ya!â Lynn said as she moved further into the backstage. And now, I'm all alone again.
I did what Lynn said, ordered a bottle and put it on the tab on whoever Kotone was. I found an empty table, there was a small stage with Lynn and a few other girls setting up. I took a sip of the beer and damn was it good, well, itâs just the one in stores but something about free beer always tastes good, no?
After a few more minutes, the mics turned on. Lynn and the other girls greeted, âHello, everyone!â
I stood up, chugging the bottle as I ordered another one. I got closer to where they were, mixing myself in the audience.
âIâm Lynn! The guitarist!â Lynn said, cool as ever.
âIâm Kaede, bass.â A bit more quiet but I guess thatâs just how bassists roll.
âIâm Mayu, the cutest member! And I also play the piano.â Something tells me sheâs the oldest out of the four of them.
âAnd Iâm the drummer, Kotone.â Oh, so itâs on her tab.
âAnd we are⊠QuadrupleS!â
Huh⊠If thereâs only three of them would it be TripleS? Or if thereâs five of them, could the name change to QuintupleS? Or maybe in the off chance that they have an infinite number of members, what would the name be? Maybe n-tupleS? Or MultipleS? InfiniteS? A- Anyways, corny hypothetical band names aside, the band started playing the opening notes.
The crowd was fairly small, it's probably already big for this place but it was also small enough that me and Lynn could exchange glances. It didnât take long for you to realize that the music was great. Some self made songs too, they played four songs, Girls Never Die, Baby Flower, Are You Alive, and Detective Soseol were the titles.
Looks like they were the opening act as they handed over the mic to the next performers. For a small place, small musicians love it here.
I was then met by Lynn, she sat beside me, âSo how was our performance? Was it worth it?â
âOf course! You all were great out there. I couldnât even play the most basic of chords on a guitar.âÂ
âWant me to teach you?â Lynn suggested.
I smirked, âIf you teach me, I might get too good and replace you in your own band.â
âYou might. Anyways, since Iâm all vacant now, Iâve been bugged on how easy you were to convince me to go here. So, could you tell me why you did go with me?â
âWell, I was supposed to go drinking out with my friends but for some reason all of them backed out at the last minute when I already arrived. Iâm not really a person who goes to bars but since I was already there, I might as well drink the night away.â
âRight person at the right time, then.â
âYou could say that.â
As me and Lynn were laughing, three girls went near us, it was Lynnâs bandmates.
âSo, whoâs the new boy you have here?â Kotone said as she and Mayu grinned.
âOh, this is Y/n. I told you guys I can use my powers to lure men in here.â Lynn responded as you looked at her.
âReally? Maybe Y/n here is just one dirty boy, no? Beautiful girl asking him to go somewhere he doesnât know, maybe he's dying to have something more happen tonight.â Mayu replied as a blush appeared on my face. Kotone and Mayu chuckled with Lynn smiling at me.
âStop teasing him⊠So, what do you do, Y/n?â Kaede asked.
âIâm a third year physics major in the university nearby.â I responded as the four girls looked at each other.
âWe study there too. Well, Mayu-nee and Koto-nee already graduated but they work there part time. Me and Kaede are in the same year as you though weâre studying music.â Lynn explained as I nodded, small world.
âWell, since Lynnâs taking a liking to you, might as well have you drink with us tonight. Bandâs not that rich but we could get a few extra bottles for you.â Mayu said. Not knowing youâve been putting the beer youâve drunk on Kotoneâs tab.
The five of us then drank the night away, even until now, my memories of that night are still hazy. All I know is that when I woke up, Lynn was in front of me.
âHuh? This isnât my place.â I said as I turned around and saw Lynn sleeping. My clothes are still on, whatever that may mean.
âCouldnât you have been a little more quiet?â Lynn whimpered as she looked at me. Our faces were too near, well I guess I wouldnât complain.
âGood morning, Lynn. Do you have any classes today?â Starting a conversation.
âOh, Y/n⊠One absence isnât gonna affect my grade.â She said, chuckling lightly.
âSo, how did I end up on your bed?â I asked, already sitting down and looking back at Lynn.
âYou were too drunk and we didnât know where you live so we had no choice. We couldnât leave you on the street, after all.â She stood up, going to the kitchenette of her apartment.
âWanna have coffee?â She asked, I nodded, a bit of hangover on my end.
She stood there for a few minutes as I checked the notifications on my phone, a bit of messages ignored by me but I digress, Iâll respond to it later.
After another minute of jogging your head, you stood up and went to Lynn.
âSo youâre really not gonna go to class today?â
âYeah, it won't matter that much. Arenât you a bit too studious? You must be the teacherâs pet.â She teased as you rolled your eyes.
âItâs just that I already have a few absences.â I admitted.
âOh, itâs still the first half of the semester, youâre a bad boy too huh? Why? Always going to the internet cafe instead of being in class?â
âSometimes.â I responded as she laughed, such a cute smile.
âDo you also want to eat breakfast? I can cook for the two of us.â She offered, of course, as someone who often just buys fast food, Iâm again taking the opportunity.
I sat down, drinking the bitter coffee that kept me awake as I watched Lynn make some omelettes and her reheating some leftover food she had. The place smelled so good that I was a little too excited to taste her cooking.
She plated the dishes and served them. An omelette, fried rice, and some leftover chicken with chili oil on the side. Truly, the way to a manâs heart is through his stomach, no?
I took a bite and it was the best hangover food Iâve ever eaten.
âIs it good?â
âLynn, itâs the best.â I said, sparkles appearing in my eyes.
âYouâre just saying that cause youâre hungry.âÂ
âWell, did you want me to say it tastes bad? Just admit that you cook great food. Canât believe youâve got a little bit of tsundere in you.â I teased as she averted her eyes, blushing.
I finished my food and got my things packed up, âThanks for today and last night, Lynn. I enjoyed it. Well, I hope I also enjoyed the parts I donât remember.â
I smiled at her, she smiled back as I opened her apartment door and went down.
I was about to call a cab until, âWait!â A voice shouted, I turned around and it was Lynn.
She ran as fast as she could and gave me a kiss on the lips, it lasted for seconds, and it was my first.
âAnd thatâs thanks for last night.â
~Back to present~
âYou were quite a loser back then, yâknow? Your retelling of events sadly put you in a cooler light. When in truth, you were so nervous talking to me.â Lynn said as I finished my story.
âFine, Iâll concede that point of interest.â I rolled my eyes as Lynn laughed.
âYouâre my loser, if that matters.â
âI could spend my whole life with you, yâknow?â
âDoes time feel much slower when Iâm around?â Lynn asked.
âIt- it doesâŠâ I stuttered as my eyes widened.
âWhy? Anything wrong?â
âCould you say it again?â I asked.
âWhat?â
âThe thing you just said!â
âUhm⊠Does time feel much slower when Iâm around?â And then eureka!
âI think you might have just been the key for what Iâm stuck in on my paper.â
âOh, really? So does that mean Iâm also a scientist now?â She teased.
âWell, your name is in all of my papers, this one is no exception. But Iâm probably gonna have an all nighter to finish it later. Hope you wonât mind.â
âIâve been used to it.â
The two of us finished our coffee as I went back to my study. I organized my books as I started writing the final part of my paper. Maybe it was luck that somehow Lynn said what I needed, but for some reason, for already so many years, she always knew what I needed. So maybe it isnât luck.
I spent the entirety of the day and the night locked up, even my dinner, Lynn just brought to the table. The only noise youâd hear is the electric fan and Lynnâs chatter as Lynn talks to her bandmates.
â... superposition, the concept of two states existing simultaneously in the same placeâŠâ
â... substitute this into thatâŠâ
â.. the club isn't the best place to find a loverâŠâ
â... focus, Y/nâŠâ
â... now if we take into account time dilationâŠâ
â... wait, the graph is sinusoidal or notâŠâ
â... when your legs don't work like they used to beforeâŠâ
â... focus, focus, focusâŠâ
â... does weather have anything to do with thisâŠâ
â... lightning just might be the key for us to experience time travelâŠâ
â... drivin' at ninety down those country lanesâŠâ
â... again, focusâŠâ
â... so does time really contract in this dimensionâŠâ
â... oh the consequences of Einsteinian physicsâŠâ
Iâve already lost track of time, but I knew I finished my paper, I set the books aside and just slept at the table. It was a well deserved rest but I never had the energy to go back to the bedroom.

*BOOM*
I woke up, another thunderclap to ruin my day, âThe stormâs not over?â I groggily said, this weather is not good.
My left cheek resting on the table, all red because of the rough surface. I reluctantly stood up, but Iâve gotten a realization. Gone are the small table and whiteboard, the sight I woke up to is not the room Iâve slept in. Thereâs shelves and books everywhere, wooden furniture that would cost a fortune, a Newtonâs pendulum beside a globe and a sundial, more life than the room Iâve been in.
I walked out of the room and saw not our apartment but our house, âLynn?â
She turned around, she looked more mature, in her 40âs, I took a look at my hands and arms, my arms have also gotten bulkier, my belly has gotten flabbier⊠was it all a dream?
âYouâre awake. Itâs already 11 in the morning, yâknow? Iâve already done the daily crossword, I hope you donât mind.â She responded, as if nothingâs wrong.
âBut yesterday we were just in our apartment? What is this place?â
âSit down, Y/nâŠâ She said as I obliged, she sat beside me on the sofa and pressed her hand on my forehead.
âNo fever, are you sure about what you saw yesterday? Did you forget to take your medicine again?â
âI- Maybe⊠Could you get it for me?â I said weakly as she nodded.
After a minute, Lynn brought me a glass of water and some medicine, âHere, drink up, honeyâŠâ
I swallowed the pulls and drank the glass, my head still hurts and I donât really know what to do. Maybe I shouldâve listened to my parents and got a medical degree instead.
âDo you feel better?â
âWell, the medicine isnât going to take effect immediately.â You joked as she chuckled.
âEven in your situation you managed to make a joke, huh? How are we gonna pick up Aimi if youâre like this? Did you even remember weâre supposed to go out later?â
Aimi, our daughter, written as æçŸ, meaning love and beauty. It was Lynnâs idea to name her that but I guess it was better than my ideas. Maybe Megatron would be a better name for our second kid.
âRight⊠weâre supposed to pick up AiminâŠâ
âYou know she has hated that nickname ever since she turned ten.â
âThen itâs for her to deal with it then. Anyways, youâve only done the crossword?â
âYeah, why?â
âThen letâs answer the other daily games, I hope Wordle would give us an easy word this time.âÂ
Me and Lynn started playing the daily games, it was fun until Connections gave us a headache.
âWow, I wouldâve not guessed that purple category.â Lynn said as she sighed in defeat.
âYeah⊠Alexa, Portobello, Meadow, SakesâŠâ How would you even guess that itâs words that start with alcoholic beverages?â I complained as Lynn laughed.
âWeâll get it next time, I guess.â
âBy the way, has the storm really never stopped?â
âNoâŠâ
âAlright⊠Weâve spent too much time on those games. Might be time for a bathroom break.â I said as I stood up and Lynn nodded.
I made my way to the bathroom, did my business, and washed my hands. I looked at the mirror, seeing my eyebags, seeing that for some reason time is passing by faster.
âIâm feeling weak againâŠâ
*BOOM*
Another thunderclap, âI- IâmâŠâ I said as I fell down, my legs giving up.
The last thing I heard was, âWhat was that, Y/n⊠Y/n?! Are you alright.â It was Lynn calling for me as I lost my consciousness.

âThank the heavens you woke up!â Lynn said as she hugged me, her hair was now starting to go gray, wrinkles now on her face, yet she still has the youthful smile to her. God knows what happened to me, I guess.
Iâm strapped to the bed, a hospital gown, and a tube piercing through my skin that no physicist would know what it would do.
âWhat happened to me, Lynn?â
âYou fell down. I heard a thud and rushed to you. The doctor said youâll be fine though.â Lynn said as she brushed my hair.
âHow about Aimi?â
âI told her to go here, didnât pick her up anymore.â
âBut her schoolâs far away.â
âSchool? Sheâs working now, Y/n. Again, you must be pretty tired of all the things that have happened to you.â
Suddenly the door opened, a girl looking like Lynn came to rush me. Of course, it was my very own daughter.
âDad! You got me worried!â She said as I sheepishly smiled.
âIâm fine. Just me getting a tad bit too tired.â I responded.
âStill, dad, you need to take caution. Weâre all worried sick about you.â
âBut-â
âNo buts! It was already hard enough to travel back here, but at least I get to spend time with you guys for a while.â
âFine⊠but Iâm so glad youâre back. Itâs been a while since I saw you.â I replied back, oh she got her motherâs way of bickering, alright.
After that short conversation with my daughter, we eventually made it out of the hospital. It was already evening by that time. The dinner we were supposed to go out on was rescheduled as we all went home. The rain continued pouring, oh, when will this end?
Time passed as we let Aimi rest since she was tired from the commute she made a few hours ago. Me and Lynn were watching the late night show⊠or whatever bizarre Japanese show would be live.
âI love you, Lynn.â I said as she looked at me.
âWow, you rarely say that.â
âWhat? Really? All these decades?â
âWell, you rarely say it out of the blue.â
âI love you, I love you, I love you. I know that wouldnât be enough to compensate for the decades weâve been together but you know I love you. Iâd love you even if it means Iâd get soaked in the rain, Iâd love you even if it means Iâd get deafened by the thunder, Iâd love you even if it means Iâd get struck by lightning. By all means, by all phenomena, I would love you. Because if it meant that Iâd end time and space to be with you, Iâd end it even faster than a planck. The thought that you exist is divine that no force of nature, no negative emotion, no immovable object could stop me from smiling when I think of you.â
âThis is why I love you, Y/n.â She simply replied as she kissed me on the cheek. Maybe I wouldâve asked for a longer response but given how over the years sheâd always make songs about me, Iâd say thatâs more than enough.
Me and Lynn continued watching on. Eventually, the both of us felt sleepy, mostly her, since sheâs been taking care of me for hours. We got ready to go to bed and as I kissed her forehead goodnightâŠ

âAackâŠâ I said, waking up and pressing my alarm clock. I looked at the time and it was 7 in the morning. The rain has subsided. I stood up, it was very hard to stand up. I took my cane and walked out of the room.
I saw Lynn beginning to make breakfast. âYouâre awake.â
âYeah, I would appreciate it if we do the crossword puzzle together this time so I woke up early.â
âBy the way, everyone's going here later.â
âWhat? Who? Why?â
âYouâre hopeless. Aimi, our grandkids, our great grandkids? I also invited my bandmates, they helped me with some of the preparations.â
âFor what? Is it special today?â
âItâs your birthday, dummy.â Lynn said as I realized the date.
âHeh⊠I'm grateful to have lived a long life. Because my birthday wish back then was to grow old with you, and Iâd say fate has given it to me.â
âWell, Iâm thankful my husband has been happy with me all these decades.â She said as she gave me a kiss on the cheek. Wrinkles, gray hair, skinny arms, it doesnât matter, she still has the same old charm.
As I helped Lynn with making breakfast, it was noticeable from the window that it was a sunny day. It always rained on my birthday, but maybe this yearâs different!
Itâs crazy⊠how time with people you love can feel so long, a fleeting moment you never want to end, a moment played infinitely many times in your head, a moment you want to stay in forever. But, time with people you love can also feel so short, in a blink of an eye, years have passed, buildings changed, empires fell, stars died, but forever and ever, love remains as the only constant in this ever-changing world.
Long answer: I just don't have energy and motivation left to finish my unfinished books. The ideas I had in mind for them back then was exciting... Until they weren't for me. This has been a problem where I often lose interest in my own ideas. That's why, to keep it safe, I just now prefer oneshots.
(Author's note: This was my first ever K-pop work so I decided to reupload it here. Yes, very bad writing.)
In a region not so far away, a Pokemon league was newly formed. Headed by one of the city mayors of the region, Park Jin-young, he has convinced 8 other cities to hold Pokemon gyms while his city, JYP city is gonna hold the elite four and the champion. However, there is one problem, there is still no champion, so one of the elite four must act as the de facto champion, and here comes L/n Y/n, the strongest of the elite four.
The elite four consists of four (obviously) strong trainers, these four have had experience outside their region as it was only now that they'll have their first league.
The first member of the elite four is a girl named Minatozaki Sana, while the weakest among the four, she is certainly not weak compared to other trainers. A grass-type trainer and specialist by heart, she is also an environmentalist supported by the fact that she has a Leafeon as her ace. She is also the most energetic among the four, her bubbly personality however is just a ruse as she gets serious when it's battle time.
The second member is Yoo Jeongyeon, a devious prankster, matching very well to her type specialty, the dark-type. She and her ace Krookodile have been together ever since Jeongyeon was a kid. She is also renowned as having a living pokedex, being a collector by heart. While very mischievous and serious, she is shown to be caring about the Pokemon she catches.
The third and youngest member is Kim Dahyun, don't let her cute face and fairy-type Pokemon fool you because she takes her Pokemon battles seriously. She and her Tinkaton will show you a ton of pain. She's also the richest of the elite four, hailing from a rich family. Many competitors' journeys end at her, not even getting the chance to meet the last member.
The final and strongest member is no other than L/n Y/n. He is also the de facto champion. It has already been 6 months since the league was instated yet no one has ever defeated Y/n. A part-time inventor has influenced his specialty, being an electric-type specialist with Raichu as his ace. He's the most quiet among the four. He was offered to be the champion all together after a month of being undefeated but he refused thinking that the appeal of the league would decrease with him as champion. He holds the record for most gym badges in a year with XX badges before settling back in his home region where the newest league was installed.
Sana, Jeongyeon, Dahyun, and Y/n make up the first ever elite four of the league yet are still finding the perfect champion for the region. In fact, the four of them is ranked as one of the hardest leagues to beat and that's even them without a champion.
The elite four were now logging in for another day at the job, waiting for more trainers to fight them. Y/n, Sana, and Jeongyeon were waiting at the lounge. Sana brought out Leafeon and started playing with the grass-type. Jeongyeon and Y/n just sat down, being the more serious and mature half of the elite four.
âDahyun's late again.â Y/n remarked as he snickered.
âAre you not used to it by now?â Jeongyeon chuckled.
Y/n sighed, âWell, it would be more suited for her to be present on time. Time is gold, time is the most essential thing-â
âY/n! You can't say that when you ditch lots of press conferences of the league. Most pictures of the elite four are just us three!â Sana exclaimed as she purred her cheeks against Leafeonâs.
âOoh⊠I think she got you good, Y/n.â Jeongeyon stated as she and Sana laughed. It was true, Y/n was also known as âthe missing eliteâ due to the fact that he is always missing on photoshoots. He never really liked the publicity but he guesses his job needs him to be a public figure of some degree.
âHey guys! I'm here!â A voice said as the longueâs door opened, it was Dahyun, finally completing the elite four.
âPerfect timing, Dahyun. Y/n here is dying for you to come.â Jeongyeon smirked and looked at Y/n who had an unamused face.
âDahyun, you really need to know how to be early.â Y/n scolded. He was the oldest among the four, and now he's scolding the youngest. Not a rare sight for Sana and Jeongyeon but funny nonetheless.
âI'll make it up to you next time!â Dahyun pleaded as she used her aegyo at Y/n.
It's super effectiveâŠ
Y/n digressed and changed his direction of glance, âFine, fine! Anyways, since we're complete, I'll message the staff to open the doors of the league now.â Y/n said as he sent a message.
âANNOUNCEMENT! The doors of the elite four have now opened, and the competitors, if any, are now allowed to go inside.â The speaker outside the building said but it was only heard by one pair of ears, a lone girl was standing behind the grand doors of the league. The girl was Im Nayeon.
Im Nayeon, a trainer that has already traveled to many regions. A seasoned trainer, she traveled with one of the elite four members when they journeyed through the Sinnoh region. A bit arrogant and self-confident but she also shows compassion and love for her Pokemon and the craft of battling. She's already made a name for herself, and today is the day her plethora of accolades be once more updated or will she fail against the hands of one of the most formidable elite fours of all time?
Nayeonâs team was composed of: Talonflame, Mamoswine, Delphox, Mimikyu, Sirfetchâd, and Jolteon.
âThis way, ma'am.â A staff member told Nayeon as she followed suit. A big part of the building is composed of 2 arenas, one for the elite four and one unused arena, saved for who will be the first ever champion.
The flow will be a gauntlet-type. Nayeon will go against Sana, Jeongyeon, Dahyun, and then finally Y/n. Nayeon can heal her Pokemon using her own items during breaks between the elite fours.
Nayeon followed the staff and healed her Pokemon one last time before she entered Sana's stadium. Once her Pokemon were all healed up, she entered the room where you could see floral designs all around, the walls were painted green, matching Sanaâs speciality, the grass-type.
âHi! I'm Sana! I use grass-type Pokemon! Many people think of grass-types as frail and weak but then again, many don't get past me, so I wonder why? Maybe it's a skill issue on their part.â Sana smirked, cute mode was now gone and it was time to battle.
âBoth the Challenger and elite four member will participate in a 4v4 Pokemon battle. Only the Challenger is allowed to switch Pokemons. Are both the Challenger and elite four member Sana ready?â The officiating referee said.
âYes!â/âYeah!â Nayeon and Sana said at the same time as they started the battle.
âBefore we start, why 4v4?â Nayeon asked as the other leagues permit 6v6 battles in the elite four.
âIt's because we're cutting time constraints. For the first months of the league, we were swarmed by trainers from all around the world. To keep it fast and quick we decided to just go 4v4 until the first champion is crowned. Lucky day for us because somehow, you're the only competitor.â Sana explained.
âFerrothorn, I choose you!â Sana said as she brought out her first Pokemon. Ferrothorn both has the steel and grass typing, a defensive juggernaut but is very susceptible to fire-type moves.
âWell then, Talonflame, it's time to fly once more!â Nayeon shouted as the red bird soared to the roof, a fire/flying-type Pokemon, it is in a big advantage against Sana's opener, Ferrothorn.
âI did a little bit of digging about you, Miss Nayeon! I never knew you were Y/nâs travel partner when he went to Sinnoh! I'm expecting a fight as grand as my exhibition fights with him! Don't disappoint.â Sana exclaimed as Nayeon snickered.
âI won't! Talonflame, Flare Blitz!â Nayeon said as Talonflame charged at Ferrothorn.
âIron defense, please.â Sana said as Ferrothorm braced for impact, it was a direct hit but due to Ferrothornâs defense, it wasn't enough. The contact also gave Talonflame a run for its money, getting recoil damage from its move and Ferrothorn's ability, Iron Barbs.
âStealth Rock, if I may.â Sana said as Ferrothorn began putting floating rocks around the arena.
âTalonflame, Fly!â Nayeon said as Talonflame soared high.
âSee, I'm not in the elite four for nothing.â Sana said as she smirked, making Nayeon's smug look break as she realized what Sana meant.
âHe may not be the best special attacker but just in case of situations like this, Thunder!â Sana said as Ferrothorn obliged, the lightning strike hit Talonflame who was up above. Talonflame fell down and hit the ground. The smoke cleared and revealed that Talonflame fainted.
âTalonflame is unable to battle! 3v4, with elite four member Sana with the advantage.â The referee said as Nayeon groaned.
âThunder is such a bad move for Ferrothorn yet you used it, if it weren't for the flare blitz's recoil damage, Talonflame would've survived. You took this from Y/nâs textbook, no? I remembered him using that strategy once.â Nayeon pointed out as Sana smiled. Nayeon said, reading the situation like a book.
âMamoswine, I choose you!â Nayeon said as the gigantic ground/ice-type showed up. Sanaâs Ferrothorn was already weak and she accepted that itâll be down next turn.
âUse Iron Defense, bud.â/âEarthquake!â Sana and Nayeon both said as the ground shaked, by the end of it, Ferrothorn was already down.
âFerrothorn is unable to battle!â The referee announced as Sana took Ferrothorn back to its Pokeball.
âTime to shine, Breloom!â Sana said as her second Pokemon came out, the grass/fighting-type, Breloom.
âMach punch!â Sana said as Breloom swiftly hit the Mamoswine, not giving it time to react.
The two exchanged blows and hits as Nayeon also now brought out Mimikyu and her final Pokemon, her starter, Delphox. Sana also brought out her remaining Pokemon, Roserade, and Leafeon.
It was now down to Delphox and Leafeon, 1v1 but of course Nayeon played it strategically, she has the type advantage and is ready to end Sana.
âFlamethrower, letâs end it once and for all!â Nayeon shouted as Delphox obliged, directly hitting the already injured Leafeon. The smoke cleared and showed that only Delphox was left standing.
âLeafeon is unable to battle! Elite four member Sana is out of usable Pokemon! Challenger Nayeon wins and moves on to the next fight!â The referee said as the two competitors put their final Pokemons back to their Pokeballs.
âYou know, the good thing about being the first member is I can watch the otherâs fight those who beat me! You earned it, Miss Nayeon! Jeongyeon is up next, she specializes in dark-type Pokemon. Iâm gonna watch your battle with her! Be careful, sheâs very sly with her moves.â
âI know Jeongyeon. We trained at the same academy.â Nayeon exclaimed as she started healing her Pokemons while a staff member took Sanaâs and healed her mons right up.
âOoh, Iâd argue your fighting style is somewhat a mix of hers and Y/nâs. Iâm still curious though, how was Y/n when traveling? Heâs so quiet around us. Is he perhaps different around you?â Sana asked as Nayeon smiled.
âHeâs no different from how he was with me. I quite liked his quiet side. But donât be fooled. Heâs a softie. Push the right buttons and youâll see a new side.â Nayeon said as she reminisced about her time with Y/n in Sinnoh, a nearby region.
âAnyways, letâs wait for Jeongyeon.â Sana said as she replaced the officiating referee, it was always a custom for them that they be the referee if they lost. After five minutes, the door opened and Jeongyeon appeared. The walls of the stadium changed from green to black as Dark-type motifs also changed the floral patterns.
âNayeon! I was watching your fight at the lounge. Itâs been a while.â Jeongyeon said, getting Nayeonâs attention.
âReady to lose, old friend?â Nayeon retaliated as Jeongyeon chuckled.
âLast time we fought, you won against me. Iâm in the mood to change that.â Jeongyeon said as she, Sana, and Nayeon went to their respective positions.
âThe battle between Nayeon versus elite four member Jeongyeon will now begin. Same rules apply.â Sana said as she signaled the two.
âShow them how we roll, Honchkrow.â Jeongyeon said as the dark/flying-type bird appeared in front of her.
âJolteon, time to shine!â Nayeon said as the electric-type Pokemon revealed itself.
âDischarge!â Nayeon commanded as Honchkrow got a direct hit.
âYou ok? Use Snarl!â Jeongyeon responded back, also hitting the Jolteon, lowering its special attack stat.
âI donât have a solid counter against her Honchkrow besides my Jolteon, I canât let it go down yet. I need to brute force out of Jeongyeonâs team.â Nayeon said to herself, analyzing the situation.
âJolteon, volt switch!â Nayeon said as Jolteon hit Honchkrow who actually fainted from the move. This move, however, makes Nayeon have a free switch.
âLucky!â Jeongyeon shouted.
âSkuntank, show your best.â Jeongyeon said as she revealed her second Pokemon.
âMimikyu, time to shine!â Nayeon said as they continued battling.
Skuntank defeated Mimikyu, Mamoswine defeated Skuntank. Jeongyeon revealed her 3rd Pokemon, Cacturne which in turn defeated the Mamoswine. It was now a 2v1 with Nayeon in the lead.Â
Jeongyeon brought out her ace, Krookodile. Nayeon knew that Jolteon can't do anything against the ground/dark-type so she's essentially in a 1v1 situation.
âSirfetchâd, bring us glory!â Nayeon said as she brought out the fighting-type Pokemon.
âFirst impression!â Nayeon shouted as Sirfetchâd hit the Krookodile.
âAerial ace!â Jeongyeon countered as Krookodile hit the Sirfetch'd with precise moves.
The two exchanged blows, with the two Pokemon showing such resilience. Nayeon always knew that Jeongyeon would never back down from a fight. She knows that if Sirfetch'd loses, she loses the entire match.
âTime to end this, Sirfetch'd. Final gambit!â Nayeon said as Sirfetch'd charged to the Krookodile, causing the two of them to faint in the process.
Nayeon has now defeated the second member of the elite four. Nayeon brought out Jolteon as proof that she still had one more.
âElite four member Jeongyeon is out of usable Pokemon. Nayeon wins!â Sana announced. Jeongyeon closed her eyes and smiled. She knew she was yet again bested by one of her closest friends.
Nayeon began healing her Pokemon yet again as Sana and Jeongyeon walked closer to congratulate her.
âYou've already defeated the two of us. Two more to go.â Sana remarked as Nayeon smiled.
âI'd take it that Nayeon thought it was easy to beat the two of us, Sana.â Jeongyeon teased Nayeon.
âI'd disagree, you guys put me with only one Pokemon remaining. Some elite four members of other regions can't even take down one of my Pokemons. It's so bizarre that the newest Pokemon league is also considered the hardest. But fighting you two made it make more sense.â Nayeon said, complimenting the two.
âWell, better prepare yourself. The next member is Dahyun, she's the youngest but she's proven that age is just a number. Think about it, she's the second strongest trainer of the entire region! Her fairy-types are no joke in combat.â Jeongyeon stated, giving Nayeon precautions when it came to Dahyun, her next opponent.
âSo, Jeongyeon⊠Howâs Y/n?â Nayeon asked out of the blue.
âHmmm⊠He scolds Dahyun for being late. Heâs a great leader. Not only is he the final elite four member but heâs also incharge of this building. He takes care of maintenance and the tech stuff.â Jeongyeon stated, answering Nayeonâs question.
âY/nâs great! He also treats me to lunch from time-to-time! Thereâs also that time when-â
*CLANG*
The elite foursâ door opened, cutting Sanaâs talk off. Suddenly the dark walls of the arena changed to shades of pink, now equipping a butterfly motif.Â
âMiss Nayeon! Good thing you defeated Jeongyeon so that we can fight! But Iâll spoil your reunion with Y/n. Itâs time to trip over butterflies.â Dahyun smugly said getting the attention of Nayeon, Sana, and Jeongyeon.
âGoodluck, Nayeon!â Sana said as she moved to the bleachers while Jeongyeon moved to the officiating spot.
âMiss Dahyun, while we arenât familiar with each other, I'll give you a match worth remembering.â Nayeon taunted.
âWe'll seeâŠâ Dahyun simply said as Jeongyeon sighed in defeat from the remarks of the two.
âThe battle between Challenger Nayeon versus elite four member Dahyun will begin shortly! Same rules apply, please bring out your first Pokemons!â Jeongyeon stated as the two prepared.
âAlolan Ninetales, show them how it's done!â Dahyun said as the ice/fairy-type appeared in all its beauty.
Nayeon knew her team didn't have much coverage against the Fairy-type, Dahyun's specialty. So her strategy now is to go after their secondary typings.
âI'm counting on you, Delphox!â Nayeon said as the most grueling fight of the gauntlet began.
Delphoxâs fire-typing defeated the Alolan Ninetales. Dahyun brought out Togekiss who made quick work of Delphox.
It was again even with a 3v3 but the hot potato like game was not over.
Togekiss was easily defeated by Jolteon but Jolteon was swept away by Florges, Dahyun's 3rd Pokemon.
Florges was a pure fairy-type, Nayeon couldn't handle it's secondary typing due to it- well it doesn't have one. She had to brute force this one out.
âTalonflame, time to shine once more!â Nayeon said as fire-types resist fairy-type moves which at least she didn't need to deal with the STAB damage.
Lots of brave birds were used by Nayeon, eventually chipping on Florgesâ health until it went down. Dahyun was now at her final Pokemon, her ace, Tinkaton.
Tinkaton easily dispatched the Talonflame as Nayeon brought out her final Pokemon, Mamoswine.
Tinkaton is a fairy/steel-type while Mamoswine is a ground/ice-type. Mamoswine is weak against steel-type moves while Tinkaton is weak against ground-type moves.
They exchanged moves until Dahyun felt that it was enough.
âTime to end it, Gigaton Hammer!â Dahyun said as Tinkaton raised its hammer and ran to Mamoswine.
âDig!â Nayeon simply said as the enormous monster dug under the ground and fully concealed itself even though it was a big Pokemon.
Tinkaton was confused with Mamoswine out of sight. Nayeon and Dahyun waited. Not until Nayeon noticed that Tinkaton stood on a part of the ground which was swelling, she already knew she won.
âNow, Mamoswine!â She said as the 8 feet tall Pokemon bursted from the ground, knocking the Tinkaton up and it fainting on impact.
âTinkaton has fainted. Elite four member Dahyun is out of usable Pokemon! Challenger Nayeon has won!â Jeongyeon announced as Dahyun put Tinkaton back on its Pokeball.
After that, Dahyun walked to Nayeon and offered her hand, waiting for Naueon to handshake it.
âGood game, miss Nayeon. Looks like you're one step closer to greatness.â Dahyun said as Nayeon accepted her handshake.
Sana and Jeongyeon walked closer to the two with Nayeon again healing her Pokemon yet again.
âThree out of four! It's been a while since anyone went past Dahyun!â Sana exclaimed, amazed by Nayeon and her Pokemonsâ prowess.
âReady to meet Y/n?â Jeongyeon teased as Nayeon blushed.
It's been months since Nayeon saw her former travel buddy. But travel buddy would be an understatement, the two were inseparable back at Sinnoh. Not until Y/n abruptly left Nayeon, left her without a warning. Left her for the job as an elite four. Nayeon was angry, she wanted revenge but at the same she couldn't, she's half the trainer she was now if it weren't for Y/n. Y/n was the better battler and Nayeon knew that, many of Nayeon's strategies are just copied or improved from what he learned from Y/n. She always had a sweet spot for him, it'd be a lie if she says she hasn't fallen for him when they were traveling together.
Y/n would take care of her, protect her, cuddle with her when staying at Snowpoint City was too cold. Gave her medicine when she was sick and they were stuck in the woods. Y/n has always been there for her yet he left without a warning.
Suddenly, the door for the Challengers opened, an employee of the league.
âIâm sorry for the inconvenience but Sir Y/n is in an emergency meeting with the Mayor. Sir Y/n has requested the meeting be done immediately even though he has an upcoming fight. We apologize for the sudden postponement but the Challenger may partake in her lunch first before battling against sir Y/n.â The employee said as he left shortly after.
âWell, looks like Y/n had to talk about something important. Wanna go get lunch with us, Nay?â Jeongyeon asked as Nayeon looked at her.
âAs long as Sana and Dahyun are fine with me joining.â Nayeon responded.
âOf course, weâd love to have lunch with what looks like the future champion!â Sana said as Dahyun nodded in agreement.
âWell, sounds like a plan! Letâs go!â Jeongyeon said as she led the way, the four girls exited the building and made their way off to lunch.
~One hour later~The four girls returned to the building and as they entered the arena, it already had a yellow wall, sparks were showing up at the sides, finally, Y/n was here.
âNayeon, it's been a while.â Y/n said as he smiled, he rarely smiles, this hasn't gone unnoticed as Sana and Dahyun also took note of it.
âY/n, don't you feel a little guilty of leaving me all of the sudden?â Nayeon said, reminiscing back the day Y/n said goodbye, or in this case the lack thereof.
Y/n thought about what Nayeon said, of course he was guilty. It's not like he had a reasonable excuse for it. He always regretted not saying his goodbye to Nayeon. He always hoped for a chance of reconciliation with Nayeon and now heâs given that chance. A chance not everyone gets in their lifetime.
âIâm sorry, Nayeon. I know what I did was wrong, so put me through hell in this battle of ours. Please do not hold back.â Y/n said as he continued on with his smile. Nayeon squinted her eyes and looked fiercely at Y/n⊠Fiercely cute.
âIâll make history by defeating you today, Y/n!â Nayeon said as she and Y/n went face-to-face, albeit on different sides of the arena. Sana and Jeongyeon sat at the bleachers while Dahyun went to the officiating spot.
âWin or lose you make history! Win and become the first ever champion, lose and be added to my win streak, as simple as that.â Y/n smirked, it was game time.
âThe battle between Challenger Nayeon and elite four member Y/n will now commence! Same rules apply! If the challenger wins, she will become the first champion of this league.â Dahyun said as Y/n nodded.
âY/n, if I win can you do a favor for me!â Nayeon shouted as Y/n looked at her.
âWhat is it?â Y/n wondered.
âDon't ever leave me again!â Nayeon said as Y/n blushed, after a minute of composing himself once more, he regained composure and focused.
âTime for us to crush the competition. Magnezone, I choose you!â Y/n shouted as he brought his Magnezone, the robot electric/steel-type.
âSirfetch'd, etch your name in glory.â Nayeon said as she brought out her fighting-type Pokemon.
âFirst impression!â/âIron defense!â Nayeon and Y/n shouted respectively as Sirfetch'd made contact but made no dent to the Magnezone.
âMy turn! Metal sound!â Y/n said as Magnezone followed, lowering the special defense of the Sirfetch'd.
âClose combat!â Nayeon retaliated as Sirfetch'd hit Magnezone.
âTch, thanks for letting Sirfetch'd go near! Zap Cannon!â Y/n remarked as the usually inaccurate move had a direct hit on Sirfetch'd, with the lowered special defense. Sirfetch'd couldn't take it and fainted.
âZap cannon? Really? Wouldn't you have preferred Thunderbolt, a more accurate move?â Nayeon teased as Y/n smirked.
âI love taking risks!â Y/n shouted.
âFine, I'll do you one better! Talonflame!â Nayeon commanded as the bird came out of the Pokeball.
âA flying-type on my electric-types? That's what I like to see!â Y/n said as he laughed.
âFlare blitz!â Nayeon said as the braced impact took down the Magnezone, again maming it an equal fight.
âFine, Wash Rotom, time to see the light!â Y/n said as the electric/water-type revealed itself.
âSunny day!â Nayeon shouted as the sun revealed itself.Â
âSunny day on Talonflame? Doesn't Nayeon know that Wash Rotom has no water-type moves even though it's a water type?â Y/n thought to himself as he thought Nayeon made an oversight.
âHex!â Y/n replied.
âDodge and use fly!â Nayeon said as Talonflame evaded Wash Rotomâs attack and instead Talonflame hit Wash Rotom for damage.
âSee, Y/n⊠I learned a few tricks from you.â Nayeon chuckled. As Y/n saw her chuckling, he realized that the sunny day wasn't a mistake.
âSolar beam!â Nayeon said as because of the sun, it was able to charge quickly. A beam of light directly hit Wash Rotom, deeming it fainted. Nayeon now has the lead, 3v2.
âManectric, I choose you!â Y/n said as his penultimate Pokemon was released.
âTalonflame, Flare blitz!â/âDouble team!â Nayeon and Y/n said respectively as clones of Manectric scattered around the field making Talonflame miss the attack.
âThunderbolt!â Y/n said as the bird was struck mid air, Talonflame was unable to battle.
âMamoswine, show them!â Nayeon said as she now also revealed her penultimate Pokemon.
âEarthquake!â Nayeon said as it had a direct hit at Manectric but he was still alive and well.
âThanks for the Sun! Overheat!â Y/n said as he took advantage of the sun that Nayeon set up. It was a direct hit to the Mamoswine, even receiving more damage because of the Sunny Day a while back. The Manectric did big damage in sacrifice for it's special attack stat.
âEarthquake again!â Nayeon said as the weakened Mamoswine used it's attack, taking down Manectric.
Y/n was now down to his last Pokemon, it was time to bring out his ace, his Raichu.
âLet's show them why we're undefeated, Raichu!â Y/n said as the mouse revealed itself.
âIron tail!â Y/n said as the Raichu swiftly made work of the Mamoswine, bringing it down. It was now a 1v1.
âDelphox! Let's be number one, one more time!â Nayeon said as she brought out her starter.
Nayeon's journey, it all comes down to this.
âFlamethrower!â/âDouble team!â Nayeon and Y/n said as Delphox unleashed flames burning the multiple copies of Raichu but not finding the actual one.
âIron tail!â Y/n said as the closest Raichu copy hit its tail on the Delphox, doing chip damage.
âMud shot!â Nayeon countered as Delphox hit a super effective move against the electric-type.
The two exchanged more hits as every second it became more intense.
âDouble team, Raichu!â Y/n said as he created more clones of the mouse yet again.
âSwift, Delphox!â Nayeon said as the attack cleared all illusions but hit only the air.
âSee, Nayeon⊠You won with this your last fight, how can you fall for it? Dig is such a nice move!â Y/n smirked as Nayeon gasped.
âNow, Raichu!â/âGet out of that spot, Delphox!â The two said as Raichu rose above the ground hitting Delphox and raising it into the air.
âTime to end it! Thunderbolt!â Y/n shouted as the thunderbolt connected. Causing Delphox to faint.
âDelphox has fainted, challenger Nayeon is out of usable Pokemon. Elite four member Y/n wins!â Dahyun announced as Y/n and Raichu walked closer to Nayeon who was walking to the downed Delphox.
âYou guys did well, I'm sorry we couldn't win it allâŠâ Nayeon said to her Delphox as she withdrew Delphox and met eyes with Y/n.
âIt was the closest this league was having a champion.â Y/n said to Nayeon as she smiled.
âI failed to beat you, Y/n-â
âStop pitying yourself, you've shown exemplary talent. Besides, I forgot to ask a favor before the fight started.â Y/n stated as Nayeon squinted her eyes.
âWhat is it?â Nayeon asked.
âIf I win, don't leave me.â Y/n said, chuckling on how cheesy his statement was.
âWh- What?â Nayeon blushed, still wondering what Y/n meant.
âI was in a meeting, right? That's why our fight was postponed. The mayor asked me yet again to be champion after being undefeated for half a year, and I accepted it. Because I already found my replacement as the final member of the elite four. You. Please accept the offer so that we can be together, no more abrupt leaving, promise!â Y/n said as he held Nayeon's hands.
âOf course! I'd love to be in the elite four!â Nayeon said as she kissed Y/n in the lips taking him aback and the three girls watching them were also taken aback, in fact they were probably more taken aback than Y/n himself.
âAfter Sinnoh, we were supposed to go to Kalos together, right? To Lumiose City, I was supposed to confess to you there⊠But you left all of a sudden.â Nayeon explained as she broke the kiss, leaving Y/n in a trance.
Y/n gained his composure back and looked at Nayeon.
âI- I love you, Nayeon. Day by day, as we traveled together I just couldn't help it. I'm sorry I made you feel pain, made you feel lonelyâŠâ Y/n said as the other girls wooed, getting the attention of the two.
âIf Nayeon's gonna be the new elite four member, what's gonna be her specialty?â Jeongyeon asked.
âI always liked fire-types! I brought two of them in my team after all!â Nayeon said as Y/n smiled.
The newly formed league has now completed its lineup, with Nayeon as the newest addition. Sana, Jeongyeon, and Dahyun continued to tease Y/n and Nayeon even after they exited the arena. A new champion calls for a celebration after all. Y/n being a champion means he gets more screen time from the public but it doesn't matter anymore because Nayeon is now by his side.
Yeon's Coffee and Tea
Hearts2Hearts Carmen x Male Reader
âUh huh, so this is the place Jiwoo-unnie told meâŠâ Yeon said, a big door in front of her. In the middle of the door, a text read training room. The sign wasnât all formal, in fact, it was just a piece of cardboard and black marker text. The place was in a good spot, it was behind a cafe, yet it all feels sketchy and improvised.
A few days ago, Yeon was invited by Jiwoo to come and dance with them, a part of a dance group.Â
Yeon knocked three times, a cute yellow ribbon tied around the door knob for God knows why. After waiting for a few more seconds, the door opened, revealing one of the members.
âHello! You must be the girl Jiwoo-unnie was talking about!â Another girl said with glee as she offered her hand, Yeon accepted the handshake.
âOh, uh⊠Sorry! My name is Ian. You must be Yeon, right?â Ian asked as Yeon nodded.Â
âGreat! Some of the members are here too. Come inâŠâ Ian offered as Yeon followed suit.
Yeon entered and saw a very spacious room, youâd think it would have been used as extra room for the cafe but no. At the side of the room was a table and eight seats. There was plenty of food and besides Yeon and Ian, there were two more girls.
âWell, since Jiwoo-unnie told someone was coming, we thought weâd have a small welcome party. Also, thereâs Ana-unnie and Juun-unnie over there.â Ian said as she pointed to the two girls, the two girls waved back at them as Yeon bowed.
Yeon sat down as the four girls talked about the dance group. Truth be told, their dance group isnât that big or anything, but they have a solid local fanbase still. As for Yeon, she only really knew Jiwoo as they were from the same neighborhood. The dance group is made up of both college and high school students, 7 students in fact. Jiwoo, Carmen, Yuha and Stella complete the members not present in the discussion of the 4 girls.
As the discussion continued on, Yeon made an astute observation, âCan I ask something?â The older girls nodded.
âWhy are there eight seats here if there are only seven of you?â
âWell, we have an eighth member, a behind-the-scenes member, if you will.â Juun stated as the doors opened again.
âWhy would you do that?!â Carmen shouted as a boy followed behind him.
âHe was clearly hitting on you, Carmen.â The boy said in response.
âSo what, Y/n?â Carmen asked, looking back at the boy.
âWell, he isnât good looking. You deserve better. Maybe someone like me.â A smug face seen on Y/n. Yeon gasped, the other three just shrugged it off. It was as if she was viewing a romcom.
âYouâre so RUDE!â Carmen said as she sat down, Y/n sitting beside her.
âHey, if I was that rude, you guys wouldnât have a place to stay.â Again, another provocative statement, it already felt like Yeon was also getting irritated with the young man.
Ian noticed Yeonâs annoyance, âDonât, theyâre always like that. And well, Y/n is also always like that.â
âHey, hey⊠look at me.â Y/n said as Carmen ignored him and started eating the food that was prepared.
Yeon noticed that Y/n was starting to pout, a taste of his own medicine.
âA shame, I was thinking of giving free coffee today.â Y/n sighed as Carmen shifted moods and looked at him.
âDeal.â Carmen said as she stood up and dragged Y/n out of the room with the boy smiling, defeated. Again leaving the original four alone.
âSo⊠Now I have more questions.â Yeon told the three as they all chuckled.
âAsk away.â Ana said.
âFirst, what did Y/n-oppa say about you guys not having a place to stay?â
âWell, this cafe is actually owned by his family. Y/n-oppa and Jiwoo-unnie are childhood friends and Y/n-oppaâs family has always been supportive of us.â Ana answered.
âSecond, is Y/nâoppa the one you guys said that works behind-the-scenes?â
âYeah, heâs the one that often handles the documentation and all. Also helps us with our social media pages, I guess thatâs the benefits of being chronically online.â Juun responded.
Yeon nodded, âAnd lastly⊠What are they? Y/n-oppa and Carmen-unnie?â She asked.
âFriends?â The three older girls shrugged their shoulders.
âLovers?â Another one with the same answer.
âDating?â Again, silence.
âTo be honest with you, we also donât know whatâs going on with Y/n-oppa and Carmen-unnie.â Juun spoke out.
âWe think they like each other-â Ana continued.
âBut, maybe the two are just in denial. Puppy love yet theyâre also the two oldest people here.â Ian laughed.
âDid you guys ask them about it?â Yeon further interrogated, maybe a bit too good at gossip.
âYeah, we tried, Y/n-oppa is the kind of person that would never give you a straight answer and Carmen-unnie just denies it outright.â Ana answered back, the other two girls sighing in defeat.
âTo be fair, they look good together. And well, Y/n-oppa is just a very⊠Uh- how do you say this⊠very closed when it comes to his boundaries.â Juun said as Ian nodded.
âYeah, while heâs very devious, heâs usually short-tempered to most people. Itâs mostly Carmen-unnie and Jiwoo-unnie who he lets banter with him. Y/n-oppa teases people frequently, including us. But one true test to know if heâs alright with you is if he lets you tease him back. And for most of the time, only Carmen-unnie has that privilege. Hence, the idea of why we think they just like each other.â Ian theorized as the three others agreed.
After a few minutes, Y/n and Carmen went back to the room, hand-in-hand as Carmen held what seems to be a free drink from Y/n.
The two sat down quietly, as if nothing happened earlier. Ian gave Yeon the look, a look saying something along the lines of âSee what we mean?â to which Yeon understood immediately.
Carmen and Y/n took their respective seats besides each other and carried on as usual as Y/n opened her phone.
A few seconds and glances later, Y/n looked at Yeon, âPardon me for not noticing you earlier but I'm guessing you're the girl Jiwoo was talking about? I'm Y/n, I don't dance but I help a lot here. More than the other girls would like to admit as well. Always underappreciated, the unsung hero of the girls.â He introduced with a smirk on his face, making the girls roll their eyes.
âIâm Carmen! The oldest here, and not one to act like a main character thatâs for sure.â Carmen intervened, a punch from Y/nâs dialogue.
âMight I remind you who bought the coffee youâre holding?â Y/n looked back at her.
âFor all I know, itâs your parents paying for this as you always get free drinks.â
âAlso, stop with YOU being the oldest, just a few months before me. Thatâs negligible.âÂ
The six waited for the others to show up, some smalltalk here and there. After a few minutes, the eight girls were complete and tried to dance a few songs. By the end of that, the seven older girls agreed to Yeon joining the group. To be fair, it really wasnât a formal joining of the group, itâs more just the girls wanting to see how Yeon dances. And so with Yeon joining, the family just got bigger.
~The next day~
It was another day of Yeon visiting the cafe. No dance routines or practice today. No, nothing of the like. Itâs just that the cafe is en route to her home from school and she decided to take a visit.
She walked, no more knocking needed, she argued maybe no one was there. Gently opened the door, surprised to see two people, Y/n and Carmen.
One thing Yeon kept in mind, however, was Carmen was asleep, leaning her head on Y/nâs shoulder while Y/n was just scrolling on his phone with the unaffected arm. For Yeon, the sight was cute, serene.
Y/n gestured with his arm to be quiet as Yeon nodded. The younger girl sat down, also noticing that the eight seats from yesterday became nine. She sat at the seat across Y/n, a direct view of the pair.
Yeon brought out her lunch box, Y/n chuckled, âDidnât eat lunch?â The boy asked, Yeon nodded.
âYou and me both, though, ever since I went to college, I think Iâve only had 2 meals a day. So you should make do with your lunch.â Y/n advised as Yeon continued eating.
Y/n tried to shift his body a bit, only to be proven futile as Carmenâs grip got tighter, making the boy sigh in defeat as Carmen continued with her sleep.
Yeon chuckled, âAre you comfortable there, Y/n-oppa?â
âI- Iâm getting by, though maybe me being stuck in this position for more than half an hour now isnât helping. But itâs her, so maybe I wouldnât complain that much.âÂ
âCould I ask you something, Y/n-oppa?â
Y/n nodded, âSure, go ahead. Unless, itâs your assignment.â
âDo you like Carmen-unnie?â The statement, while as loud as a soft whisper, has echoed even at the deepest crevices of Y/nâs head. Yeonâs right, what even are they?Â
âI- I hope you realize Iâm dumb at these kinds of topics. Iâve liked girls before, donât get me wrong. But, this time, I donât know. You know what, Iâve also asked myself that question. Because, it all just started with her being close to me. Yâknow, I never knew how to reciprocate the affection and care so I just do what people do to me. And when Carmen ended up being touchy and all, I reciprocated it.â Y/n explained, deflecting the question by a bit.
Y/n stayed silent, a moment to think and reflect, âAnd now, Iâm scared⊠I donât want to make a move if this all turns out to be her innate caring self. I donât want this to end, and that Iâm sure of.â
âWait⊠You want to make a move?â Yeon gasped, making Y/n realize the words he just dropped.
âI canât believe this, out of all the people Iâd talk to about this, somehow the fifteen-year-old was the one that got me.â Y/n laughed.
âMhhmfâŠâ The sleeping beauty suddenly groaned, making Y/n instantly get nervous from the sudden movement as the young girl in front of them was enjoying the scene.
âAnother question, what did you like about Carmen-unnie?â
âSheâs sweet, caring. While not the one leading the group when it comes to them performing, being the oldest of the group also carries some unsaid weight. She glues the group together, sheâs the one not wavering, a rock unmoved. Thatâs a heavy burden yet she makes it look so easy. And me? I just want to help her in any way I can. Unfortunately for her, the best way I can think of is the constant teasing and whatever background stuff I do.â Y/n explained, a smug look on her face.
âI think she appreciates your efforts, Y/n-oppa. Donât worry about itâŠâ
That day, Yeon knew more about Y/n and whatever his relationship was with Carmen. Usually in these kinds of groups, it would take a long time for the new guy to find out things the old members hold deep as secrets in their heart. But no matter if Y/n would blame the wind or his mouth that couldnât shut up, Yeon knew what he felt.
Eventually Yeon and Y/nâs conversation had to shift topics with Carmen waking up but with Y/nâs new found realizations, maybe the course of the following days would change drastically.
~The next day~
As tomorrow came, the trio were again the only one at the training room but Yeon noticed Y/nâs antics as a bit different. The usually cool and smug Y/n got more easily flustered, easily nervous, and while it was way funny for Yeon, it was also a sign that Y/n can show his vulnerable side more easily now to Carmen. Carmen noticed it too, it wasnât a change of heart, Y/n had always been sweet on the right circumstances though she noticed that the usually contrarian and argumentative Y/n was quieter, maybe even just Carmen finding Y/n staring at her at random times and they break the eye contact awkwardly.
âYouâve been acting a bit too different today, Y/n. Got a fever?â Carmen asked, putting her hand on Y/nâs forehead. Now, Y/n doesnât have a fever but the way heâs beet red youâd guess heâs got a bad case of an illness.
âNo⊠I- Iâm just gonna buy us some snacksâŠâ Y/n denied, both Yeon and Carmenâs eyes
âWhat do you guys want?â Y/n sheepishly asked as the two girls said their orders. The boy left, leaving Yeon and Carmen alone.
âCarmen-unnie, can I ask you something?â Yeon asked, a need to quench her thirst for gossip.
Carmen smiled, âYeah, ask away.â
âDo you like Y/n-oppa?â A straightforward question needing a straightforward answer.
âOf course! The altercation me and him had when you first got here was just me trying to get him jealous. But his dense brain couldnât comprehend it. Everything to him is a competition, everything to him is unserious. And maybe thatâs why even us have it so hard understanding his true intentions. But for what itâs worth, heâs been different lately, maybe softening up. I mean, thatâs what I like about him. He says he doesnât care but he really does, and he cares so much even the smallest of details most of the time itâs only him that notices it. Heâs a big tsundere.â Carmen laughed to which Yeon agreed at the last statement.
Carmen told more about how she and Y/n met. Though, after a few minutes the conversation was cut short by Y/n arriving with yet again the free food and drinks. In any case, Yeon already has the story confirmed. A big news scoop, well, only if Y/n and Carmen were K-pop idols and Yeon be Dispatch.
~The next day~
As Yeon was now excited to see what developments her favorite romcom would have today, and by romcom she meant Y/n and Carmen, she again decided to go to the training room. Quickly she became a familiar face to the ones manning the cafe as she greeted them with glee. She gently opened the door of the training room andâŠ
There she saw Y/n and Carmen, lips almost touching, a bit too fast in her head. She couldnât comprehend it immediately as she left there staring. The distance between the two got smaller and smaller until they realized who was staring at them.
âItâs not what you think!â Y/n and Carmen said in unison but Yeon has already made up her mind.
âIâm happy for you two. Iâll be eating outside.â She smiled and slowly closed the door pretending nothing happened.
And so ends the first few days of Yeon being the newest member of the dance group, and while there was little to no dancing at all, Yeon picked up a lot of coffee and⊠tea.
âDude, you should try this rental girlfriend app!!!â Your friend shouted over the phone.
âWhatâ Rental girlfriend? Do they actually exist? Also, why should I try them? I am NOT that desperate to find a girlfriend. Rather just focus on college for now.â You responded, a hint of disgust on how people would be desperate to rent people to play pretend to be their girlfriend.
âHey, it wouldnât hurt for you to try. Besides, youâre rich as fuck. But like, you have to try it. Nothing wrong with trying it and never ever touching it again, no?â He pleaded, you rolled your eyes. You can hear it in his voice, the persistence, the determination to make you fold into temptation.
âFine, Iâll think about it. Anyways, why are you calling at 1 AM? Thereâs got to be a better reason.â You complain as you hear him laugh.
âYeah, wanna play League?âÂ
âSure.â You said as you ended the call, turning your computer on as you and your friends stayed up until 4 AM to play.
As you were playing, it may be the lack of sleep, or it mustâve been the wind, but you caught yourself downloading the rental girlfriend application. Truth be told, you were curious. You had girlfriends before, you were no stranger to relationships. But this is just essentially a blind date where you pay more, right?
You set up an account, you just hope no one you know sees this account, nor sees someone you know as a rental girlfriend. But before you could really explore the application, you fell asleep, maybe you could dream of your ideal girlfriend before you choose one tomorrow.
~one sleep later~
You woke up, it was already 10 AM. No classes since its Christmas break. You walked out of your room, trying to find your mother. Well, the search was over quite fast when you saw the note on the refrigerator.
Iâll be back tonight. - love, mom.
Sitting at the table, you ate breakfast, the food already cold. You again looked at your phone, you always had all applications on organized folders. But you forgot to organize the rental girlfriend app.
Well, to be fair, where would you even put the said application. You never used dating apps. Anyways, you put it in the entertainment folder, because it might amuse you. Corny? Yeah, that sums up your sense of humor.
You scrolled and saw a plethora of girls. And they were all beautiful, mind you. You started to understand why your friend spends his time here a lot.Â
âLots of girlsâŠâ You murmured under your breath.
You scrolled, seeing some girls who really look like an ideal type of yours.Â
âKotone? Ooh, a Japanese one too.â You said as you moved on to the next.
âHmm⊠Yooyeon? Well, sheâs beautiful but thatâs an age gap. Would I even imagine dating someone not the same age as me?â Another remark as you moved on to the next.
âNext one, Kaede? Wow, lots of Japanese girls here.â At this point, maybe it's a personality issue, the way youâre talking about random girls like this. But in your defense, if youâre gonna use this app, might as well find the best one, right?
On your next scroll, youâve been brought to a girl named Yubin. She looks beautiful, maybe the most beautiful that you've ever seen.Â
You contemplated for a few minutes. In the end, it never really hurts to try. You pressed continue and you saw lots of details need to be filled in, as if you didn't fill up lots of information before you fell asleep last night.
You had to fill in what time you would request, and a somewhat detailed description on how the date would go. It's a bit nitpicky, and you don't even know if the girl would know about the plan or it would just be for the company to know that the girls aren't being trolled. But, nevertheless, you made it, after an hour of gruesome thinking, that is.
You pressed click, a substantial amount of money out of your bank account. You weren't one of the wealthiest families in Korea, but you'd argue you can buy a building or two if you really wanted one. Also, it's Christmas, the best time to splurge money.
Shortly after that, you received a message that Yubin has confirmed your reservation.
âIt's a date then.â You said, finishing up your breakfast as you started wondering on how the date will be tomorrow.
Going back to your room, you turned on your computer. Immediately searching how to handle first dates. Sure, you've had 3 girlfriends before, 2 in high school and 1 during freshman year but this is essentially a blind date.
Also, it's been almost a year and a half now since you had your last date with your last ex, your charisma skills might've gotten rusty, too rusty.
âFlowers always work, right?â You nodded in agreement with yourself.
A short look at your wardrobe, and while you could buy more clothes, maybe jeans and a short-sleeved polo would do. You tried fitting it on. The last time you wore it was a few months ago, and it was evident it's now more fitted on you.
The date you planned was simple, just a get together at the mall. Maybe even buy the girl some clothes since it is Christmas after all. Well, you thought the girls in the app might get many gifts from their clients but it doesnât hurt to give more, right?
~the first date~
Youâre now at the mall, 5 minutes early. Well, itâs better to be early than late. You looked at your phone, and you received a message from Yubin herself, about 10 minutes ago. You read it, it wasnât really the best of messages.
Yubin: Hello, Y/n! Thereâs an emergency on my end. I couldnât come. However, I found a substitute for me. Sheâs beautiful, higher rated than me, even. Iâve already sent back your money, and donât worry about her. She said sheâll do this for free. I apologize for the inconvenience. Her name is Chae, long hair and is wearing a gray coat. Let's meet again some other time!
The message read, you sighed, you really wanted to meet her. But I guess you canât complain, moneyâs refunded after all. But now you are on an actual blind date. Yubin didnât leave any details besides her name and what sheâs wearing for today. But you digressed. Before you went to the meet up spot though, you ought to buy the flowers you planned.
You donât know what girls actually like, so you just bought camellias, the one in-season. After that, you started looking for Chae. You wonder what she looks like. Does she resemble Yubin? Or maybe even resembling the girls you passed on in the application? Thoughts flurried inside your mind. In fact, the mystery made it even better. The thrill of not knowing who youâre gonna face.
You tread lightly, the Christmas crowd was crazy but you found your direction to the meet up place. In the vicinity, you saw a long-haired girl standing, looking back. You assume it was Chae.
âHello? Do you know Yubin?â You asked, not really wanting to ask somewhere along the lines that would expose sheâs a rental girlfriend nor would you ask something that would expose you as someone renting one.
She turned around and the moment you saw her face. It was then that you realized you shouldâve not downloaded the app at all. That there were bad omens circling around you yet you decided to not listen to it.
âYou- Chaeyeon? I- Iâm baffled.â You stuttered, her cheeks turning red.
And lo and behold you are now on a date with your ex. It was as if you were just trying to remember what dates you two went to as a plan you sent out to the application.
âY/n⊠Itâs been a while.â A soft and uncertain voice. Sure, she was quiet but the silence was loud.
The two of you didn't end on good terms. Her soft voice now was the complete opposite of the last time you spoke to her. She shouted at you, screamed at you, berated you with insults.
Well, you couldn't blame her. It was your fault the relationship failed. You got tired, you cheated, you betrayed her.
âI got you a flower, by the way.â You initiated, trying to break the ice.
âA flower on the first date? I remember the same old trick. You still use that to hit on girls?â She sarcastically asked, still taking the flower off of your hands though.
âMind you, this is the first time I went on a date after we broke up.â You pointed out, a frown still on her face, maybe you should avoid talking about your shared past.
âAnyways⊠Yubin didn't tell me anything about the date. So, I guess, I'll be in your care.â Chaeyeon bowed.
You took her hand, holding it for the first time ever since that final night.
âWhat are you doing?â She asked due to your sudden touch.
âWe still have a date, y'know? Is there a problem?â
âNo, I wouldâve expected for you to just call this off.âÂ
âWell, I wouldnât want my plan to be ruined. But if you're uncomfortable with this set up. Itâs fine as well. I also wouldnât take it against you and Yubin on the app. I know practices like these have shady businesses. So Iâd leave her a good review nonetheless.â You reasoned out, it was a somewhat baseless accusation given you donât know much of the ins and outs of this particular business field, however, you wouldnât want any of the people getting hurt now, do you?
Chaeyeon stared at you, âThatâs so⊠out of character for you.â A rather harsh but understandable remark.
âSo, should we still go on the date? Itâs your call if youâd take a chance with the guy whoâs miserable enough to try the application.â You joked, she laughed.
âOh, in that case, Iâm already used to miserable guys. So, where will you take me, Y/n?â She accepted, a smile crept in your face for in your mind the moment you saw her you knew it was over.
âI was thinking of just checking out some clothes. You guys do accept gifts, right? Or is there like any company policy that would forbid you guys from receiving things you guys can use outside the date?â You asked as Chaeyeon shook her head.
âGreat! Letâs go to the department store.â Guiding the way. For the first time in almost 19 months, you and her walked side-by-side, hands intertwined.
While walking with Chaeyeon, lots of thoughts came into mind. What if some of your friends see you with her? They'd probably laugh at you. But if some of her friends see this? You might get slapped at.
Eventually, you reached the men's section. Lots of clothes you've never really cared about until now. Usually, your mom is the one that picks your clothes for you but you argued it's time to grow up. By growing up, you mean finding another woman to be dependent on when it comes to your fashion sense.
âSo, Chaeyeon, what'd you think would fit me?â You asked, a light chuckle came from her.
âEven until now you still don't know how to pick your own clothes.â
âI- just pick for me, alright? I'm thinking of polos similar to the one I'm wearing now. I mean, this suits me, right?â You gestured as she nodded.
Chaeyeon took a look at the array of clothes. Eventually she found one that she thought you may like. It was green, your favorite color.
âI think this would look great. I also took the next size on your usual size of clothes back then. Because, well, do you need me to say it out loud?â She asked, giggling to herself as you rolled your eyes.
âVery funny, Chaeyeon. But youâre right, Iâve gotten a bit flabbier. Anyways, letâs also get you something nice.â You said, she smiled at you, holding your hand again as she gave you the polo.
After a short walk to the other side, you were now at the womenâs section. While the menâs section for some reason had a hardware section adjacent to it, to which you could easily smell wood and metals, the womenâs section was adjacent to the section with perfumes, make-up, and other things you have never understood even with your 21 years of living.
âYou choose a dress for me, Y/n.â She said, making you look at her.
âCanât you do that by yourself? Like old times.â You blurted out, so much for not talking about the past.
âI thought it would be nice for you to pick one for me. Itâs your treat after all.â Chaeyeon insisted, to which she is right.
Now youâre given a choice. What dress suits her the most. Lots of dresses and one man. This is way harder than your college examinations. It took you a while, taking the dresses one by one off of the rack as you inspected them. At the side, Chaeyeon was smiling, close to laughing as she had never seen you this dumbfounded.
âYouâre enjoying this a bit too much, Chaeyeon.â You said, still struggling to pick a dress.
Eventually, you found a white dress that you felt would suit Chaeyeon well. You looked at her, and then back at the dress. It would seem that you like the idea of her in this dress and as a man, you deem that as a fit enough reason.
âI found the perfect dress, Chaeyeon.â You smiled.
âGreat! We can head to the counter now.â
âYou arenât gonna try it on? See if it fits?â
âI trust your eye, Y/n. You have a knack at staring and observing girlsâ bodies.â Chaeyeon teased, stopping you at your thoughts.
âYouâve become wittier. I like it more when a woman has a lot to say. Anyways, letâs not get off track.â You diverted, making your way to the cashier.
After paying for the clothes, the two of you made your way to the nearby cafe. Most of the talk you had with Chaeyeon now was just small talk. The elephant in the room hasnât been addressed yet.Â
Why is she a rental girlfriend?Â
The moment you realized it was her, something within you snapped. She wasnât your obligation anymore, no. But still, youâre thinking Chaeyeon shouldn't be this desperate for a job, no? But who are you to judge? You arenât the nicest person ever. In fact, rental girlfriends are just trying to get a job.
The two of you found a vacant table, you gave your orders to the waiter and the two of you stared at each other. For once, dead air. But maybe thatâs what the two of you needed. You waited for your cup of coffee, a solid five minutes of silence.
Once your orders arrived, you decided small talk was over.
âChaeyeon, can I ask something?â You asked, breaking the tense atmosphere, she nodded.
âAbout Yubin⊠Well, I know youâre a rental girlfriend based on your answers earlier but⊠When and how? Does your family know about this? Does Chaewon know? But please donât answer if youâre uncomfortable.â You dropped, curiosity kills the cat.
âNo, itâs fine. Iâm actually glad you asked. Itâs a long story. Iâve been here for 15 months now. My family doesnât know, I just tell them Iâm working part time in a bookstore. Shortly after we broke up, the family got into debt. Our small business was struggling to make ends meet. Thankfully weâre in a much better position now but Chaewon is now in college too. I have to help my parents fund it. Sheâs such an intelligent girl, Itâd be a waste if she canât go. And thereâs also my personal things too. Yâknow, find the right clients and this job pays more than well. And with that, I can easily pay off the things I need to take care of and still have something left for myself.â She explained, you understood. After the two of you broke up, you never really heard from her again. You tried asking her friends how she had been but all you got was angry stares and them telling you off.
âI- I donât know what to say. I mean, Iâm glad youâre safe and all but as we were finding clothes earlier I canât help but overthink that some clients arenât the nicest of guys. I hope you haven't had experiences with that.â You replied, it mustâve been the most sincere thing youâve said this year.
âWell, youâre right with that. Thereâs some disgusting men Iâve encountered. I really donât want to talk about it that much. But thanks for the concern.â Chaeyeon forced a smile.
And when it all comes down, you were always the problem, no? Youâre the protagonist of the story, an annoying protagonist, mind you. You always had that savior complex, wanting to save the day. Chaeyeon knows it all too well, that suffocating personality of yours when you two were a thing.
âI- Why didnât you tell me? I couldâve helped you, Chaeyeon.â You said, trying not to tear up. You didnât know what to feel. The only thing you knew is that learning she had it hard, it felt like it was unfair and that made you angry.
âYou were my ex, Y/n. Donât you know how bad that wouldâve sounded if people found out I begged help from you?â She said as she started crying. You grabbed your handkerchief and wiped off her tears.
âI- Iâm sorry, I shouldn't have said that. But, it just hurts me hearing that. Youâre special to me, Chaeyeon. And I hate that youâve experienced those things.â You cried out, leaving your seat and sitting beside her to comfort her.
âItâs fine, Y/n. You were always the brash one. I liked that about you, yâknow? You were never afraid to voice things out, even if it meant hurting someoneâs feelings. But I guess it really does hurt now that Iâm at the receiving end of it.â She chuckled, forcing out a smile.
âChae, I failed as a boyfriend back then. I wonât fail you as a human being now. If you want to cry, cry it all out. The world will judge you no matter what you do anyways. I mean, even me, I was skeptical about this at first. But if I wouldâve known Iâd meet you here, I wouldâve downloaded the app immediately.â You told her as she looked at you, the frown disappearing.
âThanks, Y/n. I- I guess this wasnât the date you planned but life works mysteriously, no?â
âIt does, and Iâm glad itâs with you I got to experience this. So, Iâm sorry for everything, for back then, it was so dumb of me.â
âMhm⊠For someone as smart as you, you were really dumb back then. Always needing me to keep you in check.â She joked, seeing her go back to her normal self again.
âYouâre right, now I still need someone to keep me in check.â You said, making her blush.
âWh- What does that mean?â She asked.
âWell, I never really dated after we broke up. And I just tried this cause my friends told me to try and it wouldnât hurt, right?â You said as you looked at your phone, the time you asked for at the planned date is coming to an end.
âYou know, we could still talk even if the time of rent passes.â She remarked, noticing the time as well.
âNo, you might need to do something later. I shouldnât take up much of your time. Also, our coffee is almost empty.â You pointed out as the two of you laughed.Â
The two of you stood up, trying to catch up more as you offered to bring her home.
As you reached her home, âHereâs payment for today, Chaeyeon.â You brought out the money from your wallet, a hefty sum.
âOh no! You shouldnât, Y/n.â She said, declining.
âNo, I insist. You gave me your services, of high quality too. Just take it.â You rolled your eyes, she laughed as she finally took the bills from your hand.
âThank you, Y/n. See you around.â
âNo problem, Chase. Hope to see you around and have fun during the holidays.â You said, waving goodbye as you started driving off. The whole car ride was you trying to get your mind off of her but persistently failing.
And now youâre alone again, in your room, trying to think of whatâs next for you, whatâs next for chaeyeon, whatâs next for you two, together.
You stared at your phone, the date was so good you forgot to take pictures or save each other's contacts. To be fair, she probably only has you blocked because of what happened a long time ago.
But staring at your phone, you realized, the application isnât a one time use. You opened the app, searching for Chaeyeon.
And as soon as you know it,
âThis is a message of confirmation from Chaeyeon who agreed to the date.Â
Below are the details of the date youâve given and written:
Name: L/n Y/n
Rental Girlfriend: Kim ChaeyeonDate: December 25, 2025

And maybe you wonât be spending Christmas Alone this year.
