“oh my gosh, y/n, can you chill? you’re making me anxious!” jack groaned, glancing up at his younger sister who’s been pacing back and forth for like an hour.
“yeah, why are you so freaked out? you’ve known mack for years, y/n, you’ll be fine. it’s not like you’re sleeping in the same room as him anyways!” luke piped up, and you shot your brothers, excluding quinn, a glare, and stop pacing for a moment.
“i know i’ve known him forever but like- we haven’t been dating for that long! now, he’s gonna see me when i’ve just woken up and in a bathing suit and-”
“so what?” quinn cuts her off. “macklin is head over heels for you, i can promise you that. everyone sees it but you.”
“maybe… but i’m still nervous! you guys would be nervous too if like your girlfriend was staying with us for the summer..” you huff softly, going back to your pacing and looking at your phone to see the time.
“i wouldn’t.” jack said, shrugging.
“of course you wouldn’t.” you mutter with a soft scoff.
a knock on the door pauses luke from what he was about to say, and you stop in your tracks.
after a moment of silence, ellen comes in the room and looks at you, but doesn’t bother questioning why you’re not getting the door and goes to open it herself.

later at dinner, you sat with mack on your left and luke on your right, across from you three was quinn and jack, and at each end of the table was your parents.
it’d been going fine, and you weren’t so nervous anymore now that macklin was here, his presence just reminding you that there’s really nothing to be nervous about.
the two of you kept giggling and whispering to eachother as if you were little kids, and luke poked your arm and whispered: “not so nervous now, told ya,”, earning an eye roll from you before you turned back to mack.
“wanna go out on the boat after supper, guys?” ellen asks, and everyone collectively nods. you do, too, but a bit hesitantly.
this day in age, it was almost more weird to not be insecure of your body as a teenager, especially a girl, and you definitely were.
yeah, you’d known mack a pretty long time, but you’d never really had to be in a bathing suit in front of him up until now.
of course he would never judge you. it’s macklin. the boy with the kindest heart you ever knew and the most comforting words. and you tried to remind yourself that as you changed in the bathroom later.
you pulled on a baggy, off the shoulder t-shirt after changing into your light yellow bikini, and pulled on your jean shorts. you left the bathroom and went back to your room to get your phone and mack was on the bed, wearing only swim trunks.
“you excited?” you ask him, and he grins and nods.
“of course i am. im gonna show luke that im wayyy better at wake boarding than he is,” mack smirks and you giggle quietly, sitting down next to him nervously.
“hey,” macklin mumbles. he’s like, the most observant teenage boy on this earth in your mind. “what’s up with you? you’re all anxious today.”
“nothing, nothing,” you mumble quickly, giving him a small smile after he places his hand on your lower back and rubs it a bit.
“you’re a shitty liar,” he chuckled gently, kissing your cheek. “just tell me what’s wrong. you know you’ll cave eventually anyways.”
you sigh, knowing completely well that he’s absolutely right. you’re a terrible liar and can’t lie to him as hard as you try.
“i just.. you’ve never really seen me in a bathing suit.” you mutter. “and well… i’m not like, the skinniest,”
his face softens noticeably, and you can practically feel it even though you’re avoiding eye contact.
“baby,” macklin whispered, wrapping one arm around your shoulder and the other around your waist. “okay, first of all, you should know i don’t care about that. i don’t expect you to be a super model, and we’re only fifteen, babe,” he said gently, still rubbing your back.
he presses a gentle kiss to your temple before speaking again. “second… you’re absolutely beautiful. like, out of this world beautiful, likeee, you’re a freaking goddess!” he grins, and you smile a little.
“what im saying is that i dont care about what you or your body looks like anyways. i love you for you. your beautiful face is just an addition to your beautiful heart,” he says, pulling away and kissing your forehead lightly.
he knows you’re not really good at taking compliments, so he just speaks before you can. “let’s get going to the boat. i gotta beat your brothers,”
